Kwak Eunho (shou), who has worked as Ji Hyeon’s (gong) manager for seven years, one day receives an offer to appear on “Introducing my Manager”. “Introducing my Manager”, commonly known as “My Housemate,” is an observational variety show that showcases the chemistry between celebrities and their managers.

“I don’t want to make Ji Hyeon do something he hates.”

Knowing that Ji Hyeon dislikes revealing his private life, Eunho initially puts the offer on hold. However, contrary to expectations that he would refuse, Ji Hyeon readily agrees to appear on “My Housemate.”

“Because you might disappear again.”

“…….”

“If you’re on TV, I’ll hear about what you’re up to, wherever you are.”

Ten years ago, Eunho went into hiding, though not intentionally, due to unavoidable circumstances. No matter how much he tried to explain that it wasn’t on purpose, Ji Hyeon wouldn’t listen.

And so, the two appear on “My Housemate.” Fans start calling them “JiKwak,” as they appear excessively close for just friends…

The only reasons that made me give this novel a chance were the number of chapters and the plot, which reminded me of Alison Cochrun's The Charm Offensive. It's crazy to think that two somewhat silly reasons led me to discover my favorite novel of 2025 (with just 13 days left until the year ends) .

I won't lie, there were long hours of reading with a heavy heart because of the manager's and the actor's pitiful childhoods. So, if anyone thinks about giving up on the reading because of... more>> the actor's (initially) spoiled personality, I ask from the bottom of my heart that you keep reading and don't hate him.

The story is written from the manager's point of view, but there are chapters that show the actor's perspective on everything that happened throughout the story, and this is an important piece for us to understand his behaviors. Of course, no justification turns the actor into a saint, that's the last thing he is (in more than one sense of the word).

Personally, I think the manager is a protagonist with a life story that many people may relate to. He had to give up school, adolescence, leisure, and comfort out of the need to earn money. As the manager himself said: It's unfair how people put a price on life. Don't blame him for not asking for help; asking for help after spending so long keeping everything to yourself is really hard, especially as a teenager.

But anyway, everything improves from the moment the actor starts to understand his own feelings. It took so long that when it finally happened, I was in the hospital and still almost burst with happiness like fireworks. The wait is worth it, totally worth it, really.

The passage below is a dialogue (so I'll mark it as a spoiler) between the couple that moved me deeply and made me fall in love with the relationship between the manager and the actor:

Spoiler

KE: "Just push it in with force."

JH: "......."

At the sudden words, Ji Hyeon stopped moving, thud. He seemed to have stopped breathing as well, which was a reaction Eunho could not understand. Just as he was about to check his face, wond-ering what was wrong with him, he mumbled with his face still buried.

JH: "Eunho-yah, I may have never-had s*x before......"

JH: "But I know that's not how you do it."

I think only those who had a troubled first time and know what it's like to have an organ forced inside you without any patience will feel how deeply touching this line from Ji Hyeon is. Every little piece of my heart was put back together one by one after reading this. (I cried for five minutes)

Please, give Eunho and Hyeon a chance and love Introducing My Manager! ♡ <<less

TLDR: Green flag ML, strong MC, no SA/rape, rewarding read

Really good. The MC and ML are interesting, realistic, and fleshed out, and they definitely change over the duration of the novel. The conflicts between them are also handled realistically, and I think the angst:sweetness ratio is handled really well. The ML has mental issues that I think are tactfully handled as well; you get a general gist of his childhood to explain why he is the way he is, but both MC and CEO hold him accountable to his words... more>> and actions, advocate for him getting medical help, and ML is also determined to do what he can do become better.

I also really liked the fact that both MC and ML don't take unnecessary sh*t from each other. In the beginning, the ML is rather abrasive and rude, even to MC. And while MC does hold back his temper in those moments, he doesn't take it lying down, either. The ML doesn't really cross any lines during this, he's just kind of an ass, but when he does later cross the line he sincerely apologizes for it, and it never happens again (yay, character development!). The ML also calls out MC when he's being unfair too. So this isn't a situation where MC is a weak/timid bottom and ML is an overbearing/verbally abusive top. When they fight, you really understand both their respective sides, and it's rewarding reading them have a mature conversation and reconciliation after the fact.

I would say the main conflict/build-up is that, despite really caring for one another, they are both circling around each other without really talking. MC likes ML, but for various valid reasons doesn't believe it could lead to an actual relationship, so he says nothing, and tries to distance himself from ML as being just his friend/manager. ML (who clearly likes MC too) doesn't even realize he likes MC until later in the story, and he also has some reflecting and maturing to do in the meantime, which has a good payoff. However, once they do finally have The Talk, it's smooth sailing, romantic, wholesome, fluffy--you name it. They are absolutely smitten with each other, especially ML.

The s*x is also very good, not just in terms of writing, but in depiction. There's no coercion, SA, r*pe, none of that. ML tells MC he won't do anything he doesn't want to do, and sticks by that, and same can be said of MC, as he doesn't want to do anything to make ML uncomfortable (who has mysophobia). The first time they do it, it's hard and painful for MC, and ML really goes out of his way to take it slow and be good to MC. MC even tells him to just ram it all in, which ML refuses. Everything after that is very hot and pleasurable... ahem.

Cons:... The story ends ;-;

8.4/10

i found this novel pretty great and I definitely enjoyed it plenty!

personally, I think the beginning parts of the story were kinda just going back and forth and a little draggy because the ML was just super annoying to deal with (and im not blaming him for that as there are reasons later told in the story), but as soon as the ML realised his own feelings for the MC, his slow pursuing arc was really nice to read. Theres a lot of build up as its a slow burn... more>> and its really satisfying to finally see the two get together and bond with each other.

for the characters, they were both fleshed out quite well and were really interesting to read. I wouldnt say I adore them but they are well written as there is a lot of development between both those two and them individually.

some of my favourite scenes were the smut scenes and its just really well written and beautiful to see the two truly express their love for each other and share each others warmth while also being very very smutty.

overall, you can definitely give this novel a chance if ure into satisfying slowburns which have a great payoff. <<less
