When Viscount Ascham’s House’s eldest daughter, Adele von Ascham, became 10 years old, she remembered everything with an intense headache.

Her previous self, Kurihara Misato, 18 years old Japanese, lost her life when trying to help a young girl, and then she met God…

A somewhat capable person burdened by the many expectations of the surrounding people, Misato, who couldn’t live as she wanted, pleaded to God.

“In the next life, please make my abilities average!”

Yet, somehow the story is wrong!

The girl with 3 names, being careful to not accidentally become a S-rank hunter, lives normally.

I mean, I’m just an average, common girl. No, seriously.

Reading for pleasure. Something like afternoon teatime.
Nothing to elevate your blood pressure like those boring.. Ouch.. Killing god xianxia.

Simple plot. Funny episodes. No cliff hanger.

The whole story is clearly described in the description. Do not expect deep and convoluted plot, characters. Just reading for pleasure, OK?

3.0/5.0 because it's averaged between 1.0 and 5.0

But translation quality is good. So (+0.5) bonus.
Original language is simple & easy for Google sensei. So another (+0.5) bonus.

An immensely long story following the life of an Isekai protagonist who asked to have the elements of her capabilities that drive her isolation and impostor syndrome minimized, and instead get them turned into the Middle Value of all adult sophonts on the planet she is destined for. The story goes at its own pace, mixing in fascinating worldbuilding of a world ravaged by great filter events as we follow Misato/Adele/Mile/Miami through life as first as a cinderella clone with her 3 friends who form The Wonder Trio, and then... more>> her life as an adventurer with the Crimson Vow.

As with all FUNA works, it took a little over a year for FUNA to find the initial concept for what the story was actually about. That first year consists of the Pre-Crimson Vow Lesser Nobles Academy of Brandel story, which does not overstay its welcome too much as Adele struggles with making friends and maintaining her finances while going to boarding school in her nation's capital. Then once it shifts with the "Heroes Forced Eviction" to the Crimson Vow, the story becomes much more a story about 4 friends having fun as they explore the world, later even going out to find weird adventuring tasks to complete rather then traditional subjugations and bounties.

Mile is one of the more compelling cases of an Op character just being useless to the group until the last minute. Paulina, Mavis, and Reina enjoy her company and appreciate her contributions to the party, but unless the Crimson Vow are in mortal danger, the other 3 members want Mile to act moreso as their Adventuring Tutor, Intelligence Officer, and THE GOD OF PORTERS, because their own goals and ideals disallow them from solely relying on their ditzy goddess to overwhelm adversity. While Mile might only get a little bit of character growth over the course of the story, that is not the case for Reina, Paulina, and Mavis who have to temper their insecurities and weaknesses and forge their ideals into peerless weapons so they can stand besides their mutual mentor/bestfriend/infinite fountain of insanity/goddess.

Argument about Mile being a goddess:
Spoiler

and yes, Misato was reincarnated to become the planetary manager of the world of Average Abilities. Adele/Mile is a goddess, and the Crimson Vow, Wonder Trio, and that one merchant-knight's daughter that she has personally taught are her 7 archangels. One of the adventuring groups who show up later is named "The Servants of the Goddess" and who shows up of the non-archangels first, swearing absolute fealty to the divinity that looks to face the apocalypse ahead of them but the Servants.

also halfway through book 18, due to the final battle being broadcast in HD to every village, town, and city on the continent, the Crimson Vow achieve most (except for Mile's) of their goals as the supreme commanders of the army to cancel the apocalypse. Mavis is the Holy Knight of the Goddess recognized by all nations, Paulina cannot fail to make profits on her business ventures just by the value of her name being associated with the product. Reina has immortalized the Crimson Lightning in history and is a best selling author. All 3 of them are Independent Countesses of Tils, and Mile is beloved by all, ordained as a goddess, and has her own holy state contributed by 3 different nations being built as her own. The Vow determine victory is boring, and run away from their success.

Anime Commentary: the anime for this series does well in understanding the chapter to chapter style of FUNA and interpreting it to animation, but failed to understand the overarching plot and characterization.

Anime Criticism:
Spoiler

the is most significant direct issue is with Mavis, where the longrunning gag in the story of Mavis being a chick magnet was taken at face value rather then an emotionally disconcerting influence on the Knight-aspirant and the physical representation of her conflict between her personality and ideals, In the Novels, rather then played as a joke, Mavis' first kiss comes at the climax of her personal arc when she becomes a knight in all but title, having rescued a princess and using some absurdly dangerous combat stimulants to create a healing potion for the currently bleeding out princess. This is further after the Crimson Vow intentionally attempted to sabotage Mavis' best prospect at a marriage she would agree with and succeeding because the prospect didnt actually care about Mavis but just her major traits, of which there is someone vastly more qualified in the Crimson Vow at all times as a political partner when ignoring height and breast size.

Paulina is also essentially mishandled, as Paulina is almost outright a psychopath when it comes to earning money. This is the girl who came up with the plan to force an army invading the Aschem Vicounty to buy their own rations at incredible markup while retreating. She is "The Great Saint" because she has the highest natural affinity for healing magic of the Crimson Vow, butthat doesnt make her a good person.

the Lost Researchers mission is mishandled. The prisoner escape makes up a large portion of that mission, and its the first time the Crimson Vow start using Tactical Warcrimes, draining enemy spellcasters and crippling every combatant they encounter even after they surrender. Further they downplay just how injured Mile is, as well as the contributions of the Crimson Vow, as well as introduce the 00% series spells. Spells designed with modern physics, chemistry, and philosophy to create vastly more capable and dangerous weapons, but that Reina and Pauline are not allowed to utilize outside of situations where there is 0% chance of Survival and 0% chance to suceed. The next time we see them, Reina's first 00% Hellfire Dragonbreath nearly kills a dragon with White Phosphorus, and Paulina's cripples another by impaling it with hundreds of granite drills that explode into shaped charges and push molten capciasin into another dragon's internal organs. These are the spells the Crimson Vow uses in case Mile gets hit by another attack like that first dragon tailwhip, where Mile's lungs were eviscerated by her shattered ribcage and she was only alive by shear force of will and the nanomachines keeping blood oxygenated in her skull while they rebuilt her.

Theres also the fact that the Roaring mithrils were demoted but their association with the vow is weak, which is why they do not arrive in novel 17 early to the "The Goddess' Legion United" scene as well since the material where they reappear in had not been written at the time of storyboarding.

This starts off decent, but by v4 it becomes really bland and boring. It turns out that the author also wrote Potions, which I also ended up dropping because it was really f*cking boring. It seems the author isn't very good at keeping reader interest, for me at least.

The concept of this novel isn't really that original, a typical OP character than wants to remain low-profiled because of some dumb reasons. In her previous life, due to her being smarter than everyone around her, she never made any friends and were lonely, so now she wants to be average after being reincarnated. Since she is not actually average and is very OP compared to other humans, she tries to be low-profiled and hides her abilities. Despite finding many friends easily even after exposing some of the abilities... she... more>> still tries to maintain this attitude... like why?

It was fun to read in the beginning, but some things just don't make any sense. I've decided to stop reading at ch. 91.

Spoiler

The part that doesn't makes any sense beside Miles reason for hiding her powers is the poor scenarios that defies logic. So I just read up to the part about the Wyvern called Low Breath and the Mad Scientist called Clift. The Wyvern appears out of nowhere and steals the livestock of the village 3 times within a span of 36 days. Clift claims that it is normal for Wyverns to attack villages in it's territory so the fact that several people dying to the wyvern were just natural and in self-defense??? Um... obviously it's not the Wyvern's territory since it only appeared 36 days ago. The Wyvern was not killing in self-defense due to it being attacked, the people was attacking the wyvern to defend the village from the thieving of the wyvern. In the end, why didn't Clift just buy the animals instead of allowing it steal from the village? This scenario just doesn't make any sense, the characters in the story are blind and dumb. This f-face Clift sneaks attacks the girls while spilling nonsense about killing Miles with replacing your heart with a dogs heart gets a second chance after he is captured?... like that whole garbage conversation which spanned 3 whole chapters was a complete waste of time... Miles should have just accidentally using too much force and smashed this guys his head. It would've been a more justified and entertaining end.

[collapse]

I'm not sure why there are so many non logical scenarios in this story, I've read reviews of people that have read more chapters than me. It seems the author lacks the knowledge to real life situations and is very naïve to life. <<less

I wonder how people could manage to read isekai novels if they were to give only a 1 star to this one! Yet I would post both postive and negative points of the story.

  1. Female Protagonist without Romance, Comedy, Strong Female Lead. A good overhaul of the world description. A slice of life with an overpowered Protagonist, so most people could read the book quite lightly.
When you read iseakai novels, you want your main character to be strong. To be acknowledged. To be smart, perhaps benevolent. Maybe such characteristics may make... more>> the story too naive and straightforward, which is why the author of this book added comedy features as a spice.

Though a bit childish from time to time, aren't all isekai novels the same.

The main character has the power equivalent of that of the average of a normal human and a god. Yes, almost invincible if you say so. It's main plot revolves around Mile the protagonist who tries to live a normal life as possible, yet bizarre as it seems the plot doesn't mess up even till the ninth volume.

2. I can give two negative factors. The overpowered protagonist would 'meh' most individuals. Those who does not see is as comedy might drop off.

The second is, Mile's prejudiced speeches. You know how protagonists sometimes seem to be very selfish, yet being benevolent to only partial characters in the story. The feature is magnified as the story goes on. <<less

Well, long story short, I love how funny this serie is, thought it's just a lightheaded one. Srly, just read it 4the fun~ a cute girl doing ailly things with her friends n' that's the plot. Don't rly need to overthink.

Well, most people here are complaining about the translator n' not about the series, affecting the rate of the novel, but I must say... Rly guys? Can't u just review the novel? N' though Estelion's Secret Imouto isn't rly the best translator group out there, I dont think it's bad... more>> at all, why don't u guys just translate instead? I mean... English is not remotely my main language, but! I've never had any problem reading on Estelion's at all! <<less

I find that the story varies between highly amusing and extremely serious with a bit of high tension at times. It is truly a good read, (though I truly do wish there was a bit of romance at times - but I doubt that will be forthcoming as it lacks that being listed in the genre). I like reading about the development of Adel/Mile's friendship with others as the story progresses.
Even though it is tagged as 'Dense Protagonist', and there are comments that lead to that belief as well, I generally feel that Adel/Mile's actions and thoughts are only a result of conflicting knowledge of her previous world with the current one, and lack of common knowledge for the current one as she hasn't really been taught or focused on learning it as she is extremely fearful of worse-case scenarios. Plus quite a lot of knowledge comes from experience, some of which she didn't even experience in her previous life, so it is not really dense, but more lack of knowledge and experience.
Also the translations after chapter 49 which are done by 'Estelion's Secret Imouto' may be poorer quality compared to previous translations; however, I find that it is less detailed/descriptive but it is still understandable and easy to follow, as compared to worst to translations (which tend to translate the words but not reform the grammar/punctuation with relevance to context).

*****EDIT*****

Once it gets to around chapter 56 the translations certainly do decrease in quality, constantly switching between point of view, first person and third person. The grammatical structures of the sentences also get a bit crappy, sometimes taking a bit of thought to understand what is being said.

If you would like to read a slice - of - life comprising of cute heroines novel and you can bear with the boredom of no actually interesting action scenes or cliffhangers, then I would recommend this novel to you

The novel is mostly about a 4-girl group travel from city to city, explore ruins, fight bandits, dragons, etc. Such premises fail in developing an interesting story, including cliffhangers where you can always easily guess the results and then our author would try to give several explanations about the protagonist's added... more>> abilities, half-s*upid half-cute conversations between supporting characters (yeah sometimes very cute I admit), incomprehensible 100% fonding from other characters to the protagonist, hardly any comedic situation that makes me laugh out loud, and emotional scenes are not really emotional after all, you can just basically smile throughout those ones.

About the positive side of this novel that make me endure up to chapter 129, that was basically because the characters were so cute. For this and only this I give 3-star :)) <<less

Well well well ain't this a good funny adventure story? To me it is good, dunno what/why the 1 or 2 star (s) rater (s) questioning this simple fun WN? (Oh if it's for the translation, I'd ave to agree wid them) Yeah they are naive, yeah they are OP but the adventure of them and the story of friendship is very well managed. Not to mention it's super hilarious. (Actually to say the MC team OP is not really true, they took quite a beating in fights. The concept... more>> is pretty interesting tho, how they got to the current them. Dunno how to say this exactly but you'll get what I mean after reading the WN)

There's nothing really not to like about this WN. Unless you are expecting a realistic, serious and aggressive drama kind, welp I guess this WN is not your type. But if you are into a funny and easy going action adventure naive OP MC then I suggest you to give it a go :) <<less

This novel is great.

The protagonist is the main reason I love this one.

She is reliable, considerate, and in full control of herself and her surrounding.

... more>> Well, I've always love OP protagonist which is in full control of her power and people around her.

This LN is recommended for those who hate "welp, my power is so OP. Shit, it goes out of control. Shit, shit. I guess it's time to be edgy. My heroines -whom I supposed to protect- HELP MEEEEE!!!!" kind of development.

Geez, who in the world is not in full control of her body <<less

Go mile Go.

This is a funny look through the eyes of an 'average' character. This is a great addition to over powered Japanese trying to play around in alternate world of swords and magic. This is more serious then a lot of books in this field but still light hearted and funny.
