I'm a big fan of the villainess romance trope, so I was excited to read this novel. After 20 chapters, I still think it's a good read for its trope, but just not my cup of tea. The story is about the villainess being an ice-cold lady who is slowly charmed by the MC because of his genuine kindness. The author focuses way too much on this 'cold' aspect and uses it to describe every other action of hers. Thankfully she starts to warm up to the MC by around... more>> chapter 10.

Two of the things that made me drop this novel were the overly flowery language and the snail's pace of the plot. With flowery language, the issue is that it ends up spending a lot of text to describe what is often very mundane. In particular, the author keeps repeating himself about the character's feelings and you end up just waiting for the next piece of dialogue to come and move the story forward. Not to mention that the translation loses a lot of the intended flow and beauty of the sentences, making them awkward. No fault to the TL, it's just bound to happen.

The snail's pace is partly for the aforementioned reason, but also because the author does a lot perspective switching between the MC and fl. It's nice at first because of you can see the fl's true feelings, but it's been happening every 3-4 chapters and sometimes it just becomes a recap of what has happened. Personally just reminds of those tryhard FanFiction one-shots that try to capture a character's inner thoughts and end up saying the same rehearsed line in reality.

Four stars because it's a cute slow romance but it tries too hard and ends up being repetitive in how it handles descriptions.

TL;DR: If you like watching an extremely cold villainess melt and prefer romance over action then this is for you. <<less

It was a cute story with good character development although the writing was a bit rough at points. The fights are just awful. Chapter 61 was where the author basically Deus ex machina the situation. Unexpected powerup for the protagonist to fight an unnecessary foe. World building is okay but everything just seems to be a bit "rough" for lack of a better word.

IcyD3 was also on point when discussing the repetition of conversations and information. Very repetitive.
