Zhao Mian, the Crown Prince of Nanjing, encountered an ordinary passerby while traveling incognito.

Very charming story with a lot of chemistry between the two leads. There's a lot of plots and political intrigue but it never feels heavy and it's a very breezy read. Imo this is an improvement from the previous story in the series which features MCs parents.

I still think pikabi is a coward for writing all these omegaverse adjacent stories without actually just having an omegaverse story though haha.

My main criticism is how there is non stop references to how people with darker skin is unattractive. MC even says he... more>> can't eat in front of people who are dark and ugly. It'd be a much more pleasant story without it.

I also wish there was a bit more stuff to tie up the loose ends around some of the antagonists. But the author said they didn't want to post it in case it dragged down the main story and will post it as free extras so we'll have to wait and see. <<less

I was really excited to read this story since it contains a lot of tropes that I enjoy, but I honestly had to drop it because of the beginning batch of chapters. The amount of blatant colorism is incredibly disconcerting, and makes the entire experience of reading unpleasant. The ML in disguise being referred to as ugly and disgusting because he has “dark skin” and the MC is constantly sneering and spewing hatred at him because of it. Granted, I know beauty standards are different everywhere. The story has a... more>> historical setting, but it still made for an uncomfortable read, especially because it was happening every few sentences. I’m sure that the story has potential to get better once the ML gets rid of his disguise, but I truthfully don’t want to have to sit and read through that to get to that point. <<less

Really fascinating novel with a lot of potential.

Quite enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers/conflict-style trope with lots of questioning, mystery, distrust, and banter playing out.

Translation left a LOT to be desired.

I swear all of Webnovel translators don't proofread their own translations and just solely rely on MTL -> ChatGPT to edit.

So many endless pronoun errors every chapter, mistranslated and confusing language (like "Kyoto" which btw is completely wrong, it's Jingdou, which just means "Jing, the capital", pls Dongling =! Japan okay), super flowery AI writing, redundancies, and more...

I was intigued by the novel's unique blend of genres: royal romance, BL, and mpreg. I think everyone should give this novel a chance, even if they're not usually into BL or mpreg. The characters are well-developed and the story is engaging, and I think it has something to offer everyone.

I was swept away by the novel's passionate love story. The characters are so well-developed and the plot is so engrossing, I couldn't put it down.

This was a good read, I felt that it kinda drag on a bit but still a good read!

The ML and MC aren’t so showy with their love that you will feel like you’ve eaten a bunch of sweets

No! That’s not the kind of love they have

I love how they love each other but they also know their responsibilities and the responsibilities of their partner!

YASSSS on sooo many levels

This came to me at such a perfect time. MPreg, action, adventure, court intrigue, humor, awesome characters and so so much more.

This made me so happy and I kept wishing it wouldn't end. MC is a bit tsundere but also surprisingly honest about his needs and wants for affection. ML is a perfect match for him.

... more>> The story, despite its setting, reminded me so much of a harlequin or paperback historical romance lol like the vibe was just so perfect.

The translations aren't perfect, and there is no explicit smut scenes, and almost 90% of the writting is pretty much purple prose lol I don't know if it was because it turned out to be because of the MTL the translator based their translations on or the translator gave like 10000% effort.

Besides that, this was entirely enjoyable for me. <<less

This novel was actually way more interesting than I imagined it would be. I feel like so many people dislike the mpreg tag because it's filled with nonsense a lot of the time. However, I think this novel managed to find a fairly plausible explanation for it that doesn't necessarily go against the world building.

i loved loved loved the characters so much. I loved mianmian and WZ and I loved a lin and xiao rang. I loved how well written they were.

its interesting, because reading this novel, felt like a... more>> continuation of the last novel I read from this author, (Thrice married to a salted fish).

If I had to say one thing against this novel, it's that it feels like rather than finding a pleasant ending where all the loose ends were seamlessly tied together, it was more like the author just needed it to end quickly and made up some unsatisfactory knots here and there and washed their hands of it.

For example, the empress of Dongling was said to have disappeared? Yet they considered it to be a successful takeover but just like with Xixia, if left alone won't they too rebuild especially since I'm assuming the lunatic doctor disappeared with them since there was no mention of his ending.

As we're talking about Dongling, let me also mention here, that while the translation was good enough, a simple read over as the translator could have done a lot of good. Why do i, as the reader, have to mentally go back and forth changing the pronouns of the characters or even questioning whether the character is supposed to be male or female?

The empress for Dongling was a huge example of that. They were referred to as a female, yet also as a senior brother. Having to figure out if the names were right or the pronouns was the problem was very tedious.

Anyway, now that I've gotten that out of my system. I'll just conclude by saying this novel is really good. It's not as heavy as most palace intrigues with meticulous scheming and rebellion, but it's also not as one dimensional as a slice of life maybe be.

If you're in an impasse with no hood stories available I'd say take a look at this. It'll definitely be interesting if nothing else.

It's been a while since I wrote any reviews.

First of all I rate and recommend +10000000/10

This is such a unique novel with unique premise. One thing I do warn you new readers is that the translation is bit more old Englishy romantic formal, if you know what I mean. If you have read any Victorian Era Romances, it's like that, I don't see any issues with that as one point in time I was alll obsessed with that.

Now moving to the Novel, this is about 2 princes from different Nations who meet under different circumstances looking for the same thing in another nation while in disguise, which leads them together under the guise of poison, mystery, past, and revelry of Power. Both their characters are very interesting and did have quite a bit of development especially towards romance aspects, getting along with each other. Otherwise this is a very lovely novel!!

This is a second book to another novel, which I haven't read, but that is about the parents generation, and this their kids, You are welcome to read that prior to this but you won't miss much as the pregnancy context is kind of covered in that novel, as well as some mystery about a few side characters.

AFTER A VERY VERY LONG TIME I FOUND MYSELF A BOOK THAT COULD SATISFY MY CRAVINGS!

and guess what its from the same author who wrote marries thrice to the sakted fish...*screams*

This book is so good! You definitely have to give it a try

And I think there must be a story about the two fathers of our MC hope someone would pick it up tooooo!!

This novel is really too amazing, despite having only 100+ plus chapters, it still covered many essence of genres. (⁠๑⁠♡⁠⌓⁠♡⁠๑⁠) MC was the definition of Tsundere. He was one of a kind of character so was ML. They perfectly blended together creating a best couple. Both had their own responsibility but they carried out that well without one leaving other.ʕ⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴥ⁠ꈍ⁠ʔ

All characters were enjoyable some had bittersweet ending. The extras were healing.U⁠ ⁠´⁠꓃⁠ ⁠`⁠ ⁠U

I'm so goddamn confused 💀Maybe it's a translation issue, but I can't seem to pick up on any consistency on the MC and ML's understanding of each other. Sometimes, it seems like ML doesn't know who MC is, but then all of a sudden he calls him by his real name. At one point in an earlier chapter, I thought ML acknowledged that he's Wei Zhen Feng in front of MC and that MC recognized him from their childhood encounters, but later in chapter 18, he was suddenly shocked that... more>> the man he's tied to by Gu is Prince Heng Wei Zhen Feng?? Absolute cow dung. Would shoot myself but I want to read the mpreg part <<less

Honestly this was an UP and DOWN ride for me. The story is interesting and unique and got potential but I somehow got bit bored halfway (Maybe reader's block, I have been reading too much). Also at some point I kinda lost interest to continue reading this........ took me a whole week to complete this. Still I enjoyed it but not to the fullest.

I really love the chemistry between MC and ML and the lovely family relationship of MC. It's the best thing about this novel. Also MC... more>> and ML as a Character is written so well.

I actually got this recommended by my friend and I kinda had a little bit of high expectations from this novel but well..... still it's a good read. Read it for the Romance and chemistry between MC and ML....... totally a chief's kiss 😘

Super fun! Good chemistry between the leads. The extreme colorism MC has might put some people off but it’s a Chinese novel after all, I’m not very surprised. Otherwise, the political intrigue is there but it gets resolve in a speedy manner, not allowing it to drag on. Haven’t gotten to the mpreg yet though.
