Ruan An An, who came from a family that had tens of billions worth in net value, returned to her alma mater to donate a building but fell in love with a college student there.

The boy wore a brilliant white shirt. His figure was slender and tall. With black hair, light-colored pupils, and a beautiful jawline, he looked incredibly handsome.

Ruan An An was dazzled by his charm when the two bumped into each other. The college student picked up the file Ruan An An had dropped on the ground and smiled: “Fellow student, watch your step.”

His voice sounded as clear as spring water and the person was as handsome as jade.

For the first time in her life, Ruan An An was in love.

She created an opportunity for herself by changing her identity.

As the story goes, a sweet girl with financial difficulty who constantly strived for self-improvement quickly fell in love with another poor yet handsome male college student. The two were in tune with each other in all aspects and got married in just half a year.

Although they were hard-pressed for money even after marriage, it did not affect their relationship.

On the night before their wedding anniversary, Ruan An An was dressed in one of her exquisite skirts at work, as usual, to attend a private meeting to meet the so-called behind-the-scenes major shareholder.

“Ms. Ruan,” the secretary introduced: “This is Gu Jue, Mr. Gu.”

Ruan An An stared at the man with whom she shared the same pillow in a 100 square meter apartment every night. He was impeccably attired, looking very sharp and honorable.

…She almost broke her high heels.

“An An,” He said as a warm smile melted into his face like snow: “Let us move to Lin Jiang Mansion, I have built a garden for you.”

Ruan An An: “…”

Damn you, the poor and handsome college student! It was all a set up!

It started out to be quite entertaining, but the more I read, the more it dawned on me how highly out of touch the author was with reality. Everything about this novel just screams how inexperienced the author was, in writing, in romance, and in life.

All of the super cliched plotlines were dumped here from amnesia, wife ran away with the ball, super genius overbearing game company CEO, cheating scumbag father who married his mistress, brainless arrogant stepmother and stepsister who could only bully people with no real power. It's... more>> like the author just took all the popular plots and combined them into one big pile as she liked, unsuccessfully at that. Reading this novel is like tasting the first dish made by a grade schooler who thinks that combining every tasty ingredients without any proper knowledge of cooking is the best recipe.

Some of the biggest red flags were how the author explained that the prestigious family companies all had their focus on developing online games, how the two people who spent years in the US were so extremely naive that they made a big deal of drinking from the opposite sex's water bottle, how a 3rd gen crazy rich heir managed to get a PhD when he was still under 25 years old (it was implied that he finished his master and PhD degrees in under 2 years in total, I can't even...) at an Ivy League university while leading a company at the same time, and I haven't even talked about how the MC and ML are such perfect mary sue and gary stu with extreme wealth and knowledge yet have been saving themselves without dating or even fancying anyone until they're 20+ pining over their childhood crushes when they didn't even have any clue about the other party borderline obsessed filling out their diaries constantly about the person they only met a few times more than ten years ago while spending their youth in one of the most liberated countries out there. Simply said, eveything about this novel is highly illogical and can make your brain cells curl.

The author explained how the MC and ML came from this prestigious old money families which have been controlling the business world for generations, and you're telling me their main products are games??? Name one game company that is family run and have a bigger profit than companies in strategic industries, I dare you.

It would've made sense if the companies mainly do real estate or construction since those are the ones that usually got inherited and have the biggest profits, but no, the author just happen to choose a game company because they seem cool without even having any idea about how the industry works at all. Like seriously, established family companies led by grandpas are developing games?? Not distributing, but DEVELOPING, and the heir who had a PhD in FINANCE from Stanford was super concerned on the gameflow and bugs of ONE online game??? As a real computer science student who have spent a year studying business management and have been scouted by an actual game development company before, this made me cringe so so sooo hard. Let me tell you a secret, even in a small focused game development company that only handles one game, the CEO would never be the one who directly handles the bugs and manages the gameflow. If all upper level executives are like that, there won't be any need to hire any developer and QA. And you're telling me that a multinational company CEO is single handedly handling miniscule bugs in an online game???

Basically all details about business and the industry illustrated here are total nonsense, it's like it came from a grade schooler who imagined her father's work.

It's seems to me that the author just wanted to jump into the genius game company CEO bandwagon following A Slight Smile is Very Beautiful, yet she neither had the same level of writing, experience, nor knowledge on the topic as that novel's author so this one failed miserably. The author of this novel doesn't even understand anything about the game industry, yet she tried to immitate ASSIVB, it's very laughable.

Not to mention MC and ML's character building. Sigh, it was so poorly executed I can't even begin...

Let's just skip the part where the two of them are like literal saint and saintess with OP stats because it's just too much to discuss. It honestly made me gag everytime it was said that the ML graduated with a PhD in Finance at Stanford when he was just 25 years old when he entered the college at a normal age. The author clearly did not have any idea on how a PhD degree is obtained, and obviously did not even bother to do any research on it.

Reading this left me wondering if the author even know the purpose of taking a PhD. The ML, MC, and her friend basically only took PhD because they're rich, smart, and had a lot of time in their hand even when they do not have a strong interest in research or education. It's extremely laughable for me because my father is a professor and one of my sisters is a researcher who had a PhD degree from an ivy league university, and I can tell you that their doctoral research took so much effort it left them so unkempt. It's really, really hard to get a PhD from a good school, let alone an ivy league one. Nobody in their right mind would get a PhD just for fun and to keep their family pride when it's not even relevant to their career. (Edit: There's a Korean singer who actually got a PhD from a low tier university on vocal just because her father's a university professor and she was relatively young in her early 30s running her own small company on the side, but it was later found out that all of her thesis were plagiarized works and her degrees got revoked, so I guess it is possible if they did the same thing) A PhD won't help you run a business, that's why you don't see CEOs with PhDs except if he/she works in education/research. It was like the author just love throwing jargons everywhere because she thought a PhD sounds cool.

The ML graduated with a PhD degree from an Ivy League school and finished all his postgrads (master's plus PhD) in under 2 years, which is obviously not humanly possible even if you are a super genius who spent 24/7 on campus, let alone someone like the ML who has a job on the side. There's also MC's friend, who's a PhD candidate yet her everyday activity is consisted of either playing MMORPG games or partying until late at night until she's dead drunk. And of course, the super genius ML not only completed his postgrads at an impossible speed and managed a multinational company on the side, he also had the time and capabilities to develop a very popular game without having to take any computer-related courses on the side!! What is he, a robot superman??

It was also clear that the author did not have any idea of how extremely wealthy Chinese students who study overseas behave.

You see, I previously studied in both the US and UK, and I met lots of Chinese students there. The one thing I can say is, no matter how studious they are, there is no way in hell that they would be that naive and reserved after years living in the US when they're in their 20s while not adopting any western culture. I have a Chinese friend who is on full scholarship at Harvard and is studying his ass off, even that guy still date around and live with his gf, let alone 3rd gen rich students who don't have to care about not getting their tuition paid if their grades slipped. Middle schoolers in the US even do more hand stuff than the MC and ML in public. I cringed so hard when reading the part where they made such a big deal of ML drinking MC's water bottle. Like seriously, IT'S JUST A WATER BOTTLE, THERE'S FREAKING NOTHING REMOTELY ROMANTIC ABOUT IT YOU 5TH GRADER!!

And it's even funnier how they were pictured as these perfect chaste god and goddess with many people lusting over them but they, especially MC, could never handle people flirting with them well. The inconsistencies are just baffling.

Basically, read it if you can gloss over the highly unrealistic settings and characters here. For me though, no matter how funny this is, I really regretted spending my weekend reading this. It honestly felt like I lost a few brain cells because of this novel. <<less

5 stars for the happiness and cuteness of this story, not to mention the ML here is so amazing there is no way anyone reading this can have complaints.

this is cuteness overload and full of fluff.

the story is exactly how it says in the description, they both pretended to be poor only to be children from the top wealthy families. As the both of them already had feelings for each other when they met their whole relationship was pretty fast and mostly smooth-sailing. There was never anyone who got in... more>> between them nor any s*upid cannon-fodder characters.

however, in a more critical evaluation, the story has quite some flaws, things that prevent this from being top quality goods. The novel has a lot more potential to be even more amazing but a lot of things are not written well or included. Eg I would have loved it if apart from their journey and show-off of their love there was more enrichment of the plot by adding more business matters and allowing their high level of education to play a part. More family interactions would have been great too. Quite some past issues are just brushed off eg the thing about FL's mom+dad+step-dad, FL's past-after mom's 'death' and issues with her biological dad.

there definitely is a lot more elements that could be added to make the plot more interesting but this story has a lot of advantages itself.

-hidden identity romance

-campus romance

-large scale dog-food distribution

-top-grade ML who dotes and pampers MC

-cute friends & family dynamics

-fluffy couple banters

i really recommend you to read this, but don't expect strong plot-some things are silly XD but I love it. <<less

MC is supposedly a beauty with very high standards and who has received many confessions from guys, but when ML gently flirts with her, all she can do is blush and look away shyly. This is an annoying contradiction. Plus MC seems very insecure and lacks the courage to confess or respond to his flirting, even when she confirms that he is courting her. This just does not make sense, considering that she literally decided to go back to uni and pick the same faculty as the guy, just because... more>> she saw him once and fell in love. She has the courage (or foolishness) to do this, but when she gets close to him, she can't do anything. Lame. Plus, her and her friends seem quite shallow and annoying. They are in their early twenties but they act like little school girls. This, plus the fact that the plot was slow and boring, was the reason why I dropped this novel. <<less

3 stars, because despite how unreal and illogical the whole novel is, the author managed to make to somehow make it cute.

Spoiler

It started off cute, I liked it. But thier entire relationship was based off on both of them lying, about how rich they are and thier education level. They met and got married within 3 months (that isnt actually a problem), the major problem is, they didnt know anything tangible about each other. They have never met eachother's friends or families. The first time they introduced family to each other was after a year of marriage. She finds out about who he is in chapter 67 and he found put in chap 64.

[collapse]

It seems like the the backstory of all those novels with the s*upid FL who agrees to be with the ML w/o knowing much about him and he ends up mistreating her and then she gets a rebirth and wises up. I had to skip to the ending just to know what happens, so that I can drop the book. Quite frankly, I'm just gonna treat the book as a parody, ah, because I dont want to analyse it too deeply. So if you are the type that dislikes novels that are hella unrealistic, this aint for you. <<less

This seems really promising, the humor is great and it's full of fluff! It seems like a story with likeable leads that seem to be on the same page, comedic scenes, and very fluffy. I mean... the nickname she has for him is Perky Butt... lol. Maybe I'm being to fast to leave a review but I've been enjoying every update, if anything upsetting happens I guess I will edit this, but so far it's a novel I crave for and I might consider MTLing it, but it's too good... more>> to be ruined by MTL.

Edit: I ended up MTLing, it wasn't my intention to, I just wanted to read ahead a bit and then re read the translation but I couldn't control myself. It was somewhat hard to MTL because I'm a n00b at it but I had to use Baidu and Google's translator at the same time, so it also took me a bit longer to finish. Some parts were hard to grasp but d*mn, now that I'm done I feel empty. What will I do without this? I still expect to read the translation even though I already know what will happen, it is worth it.

I cried through like, most of the extras, if not all, and in the special emotional occasions too. I just cried a lot. It is a fairy tale I guess (I mean of course it is, it's a romance novel lol), it's a pretty unrealistic love, this sort of stuff doesn't happen irl, but it is way too cute! The humor is great, the ML loves bragging about the FL and it is hilarious, their love is so cute it makes me cry.

I somewhat agree with Amatullah's review, but tbh even the description says that they get married in half a year. So be prepared for a somewhat rushed relationship. Not that some people don't rush into relationships like that, but most of them fail. And of course there's no such thing as fated lovers imo, but in this novel's world it does so just enjoy it.

Honestly if I were in her shoes I wouldn't rush so much, and I guess the author knows that too. The people in forums made a lot of sense and were pretty sane, they were just like us. But hey! it worked out and they were pretty much fated lovers. This whole story was full of fated love, it is an unrealistic love, but it seems to me that the author just wanted to write good fluff but was still pretty self aware. At first I was also a bit unconvinced by them lying about their identities, honesty is a must! but well they both hid their identities and well... just read it! I ended up changing my mind lol. It's something I'd definitely not do but it's fun to sit and enjoy and cry of happiness.

The story is pretty much just fluffy humor, the highlight is the MLs um... hobby of bragging about the FL, it's so funny! The side characters were good too. Although there were some insane villains they weren't the focus of the story, they barely made an appearance. After all the ML doesn't even give other women a glance and is VERY open about his love for the MC.

This is not really a face slapping novel. It's ummm... a humorous fairy tale, a bunch of fairy tales. But it's a fairy tale for adults that want to enjoy some fluff. It's not cringey, it is funny and the humor suits university students well. Even though the relationship was pretty unrealistic and irl you shouldn't just follow your heart like that; they were pretty good characters and the relationship was pretty modern (they had a pretty normal modern relationship except that it was rushed and that they hid their background). I liked it! Many novels have a very weird romance that you can't even picture irl, this one... although it's like a fairy tale, their interactions and personality seem very real. Their sense of humor, their straightforwardness, it was refreshingly down to earth. Which gives it the feeling that the novel's world is normal and the characters are normal, it's just that those relationships were miraculous. The odds were in their favor and it gives you the idea that maybe there could be fated love and some people are just natural main characters.

Only one part irked me.

Spoiler

When Ruan Lin said her mom committed s*icide and Ruan An'an laughed about it, I get that she was a vicious step mother and Ruan An'an never did anything to them, the step mom was truly bad, but I don't think that it's cool to laugh about that. Well I don't rlly remember if she laughed or if she just made a sarcastic comment but I still found it pretty insensitive, of course it wasn't her An An's fault but... the comment was not cool.

I missed reading CN josei novels so much and I didn't have much free time in between my board review so I decided to try this one. I wanted to read a fluffy short romantic novel and this one definitely satisfied my craving.

I like this novel a lot for a lot of reasons. Sure, the romance in this novel is too idealistic, like a fairy tale where everything happened so smoothly and ended in a happy ending. It's just that the ML and FL are too lovable!!! FL is truly... more>> pure to the core but she is determined to get ML after falling for him at first sight (well, yes... but also a no lol). I like how she does get shy often from ML's love attacks but she knows when to confront ML and tell him about what she thinks or feels. ML is well, perfect, you could say. He is handsome, extremely smart, extremely wealthy (FL is the same btw), and is just the ideal boyfriend/husband/dad. He is in a way extremely black-bellied but his actions towards FL are all sincere. The most important part about him is that he loves to brag about the FL and their relationship and would always spare some time to spread dog food to his single dog friends and be hated about it. Lol so cute.

Their relationship is extremely fast that it reminded me of the "I AM SPEED" meme but it was extremely fluffy and adorable. Truthfully, I also love this one because it reminds me of my relationship with my long-time one and only boyfriend (*shy*). He might not be as handsome (still handsome tho) and as perfect as Gu Jue but the way he acts like a boyfriend is so similar (even the Perky bu*t too!). Both are equally shameless and really good at making love talks even though it's their first love lol. So I really enjoyed reading the FL's perspective cause I can totally relate. (I really also just wanted to brag and spread dog food hehe)

Definitely recommended 10/10!!! Hope I'd have a happy ending with my Gu Jue in real life too! <<less

This story is really fun!

The FL doesn't seem like the type to downgrade herself by getting a boyfriend just because of any other reasons.

She stays true to her preferences although she hadn't found a guy that could satisfy her standards until she met the ML.

... more>> Their interactions are really fun to watch. We get to see the FL fangirling (?) over him.

Both of them use dating tactics (?). As a regular person, I didn't know there was so much mechanics happening between two people that are trying to get in contact with the other XD.

Her friend group is also a sight to see. They tease and mock each other and also swear a lot. But, we could see that they have a very good relationship.

I give 5 stars because I think the rating of 4.4 is not good enough for this story. I thought of some people that don't like overrated tings and wanted to give a 4 star. But, the rating of 4.4 is just not high enough for me! <<less

Honestly this is more like a ‘You are the only one I like’. Where the Main couple have no relationship what so ever because they are not attracted to anyone. I think this is a good story to pick up since it has a comedy vibe to it and it’s got an interesting plot. I wonder if the plot will stay on track though. If you like a sweet plot twist kind of romance, then this novel is for you!

A good read. Quite a lot of fluff which is nice. It's really amusing, the number of clever ways they both hid their identity and lifestyles from each other. I like how both the leads are trying to be considerate towards each other while at the same time adding more white lies haha.

A very smooth and satisfying read for sure.

I wish it went more in-depth with what happened between the FLs mother and biological dad. Like he's scum but it was real vague about how (it was mtl so maybe that's why). I also wanted to see more interactions between the FL and her mum and step-dad (?). Like it felt so sudden how she just accepted the step-dad right off the bat, this mysterious gun-wielding man out of nowhere. I wanted to see them bond more since both, mother and a father figure, have been absent from her life. Aww, I wanted a cute father-daughter moment :') The ML and the step-dads interactions were hilarious tho

Very fluffy. Pretty much no drama or obstacles to their relationship. I love stories where we have a black-bellied lead who pretends to be something they're not thereby causing chaos and hilarity. This one started out that way, but ultimately just became a lovey dovey saccharine story. For a better story about black bellied leads faking their life, I recommend After the White Lotus Fell Off the Horse.

This story has a great humor, fluff and romance. I am not going to get to deep into details as that will spoil story for you so I will be brief.

What I liked about story:

... more>> 1 Fluff (ML is not some cold person as in many cn novels)

2 Humor (Story has a lot of humor and most importantly it doesn't make you feel forced.)

3 Some modern day plot (Like how MC chats with her friends and actively seek her love interest)

What I did not like:

1 There are some minor loopholes

2 Something could have been better handled

Overall, I am satisfied with the novel and enjoyed it greatly. It kept me hooked until the end.

Warning: MTL is not hard but take quite a lot of effort. I will recommend reading translated story as translator did a great job. I just got impatient and end up MTLing before I even knew it I read it end. ROFL <<less
