Unwilling to accept a business marriage arranged by the family, Wen Ruan, the precious daughter of a wealthy family knew that she had to be independent, so she left home carrying a stack of credit cards.

Unfortunately, she got entangled with a few human traffickers as soon as she stepped off the train but luckily she was rescued by a handsome man. Obsessed with pretty boys and captivated by his looks, she pretended to be poor, clung to him, and wormed her way into his house.

“I am from out of town. I’m poor, lonely, and helpless and the traffickers are keeping their eyes on me. If you drive me away, I’ll be sold.”

Fu Zhihuan glanced at the limited edition red Hermes suitcase that Wen Ruan was carrying and fell silent.

Wen Ruan: Isn’t a five thousand dollar dress considered cheap?!

Wen Ruan: I only bought two bags this week……only two bags! !

Trigger warning: bullying, kidnapping, violence, su*cide...

Honestly surprised that this novel is more than the MC's desperate pretence at being poor. The mystery is gripping. Both protagonists appear ironic, but written well. I especially liked that part near the ending when MC was asked about justice; her answer rings true even in real life settings. Would've honestly given a 5-star review but the misunderstandings went overboard for me. You're lawyers, loves! You could've solved and avoided most of the misunderstandings through proper communication, but guess not. Either way, worth a try.

Start was good. Although Wen Ruan is spoiled little miss she still capable and smart. Loved both of them. Than she just turned into unreasonable hysterical woman. His lie shouldn't be tolerated but her should be forgiven right away. After she knew that it her phone that had problems she still continues to throw tantrum. She complained that it hard for her to love but she never considered how hard to love for him. He ran after her right after hospital. And his injuries not some scratches.

Author seems to enjoy... more>> spreading dog blood but for me it ruined this book, that actually was very promising. Can't read it anymore. <<less

I wasn't about to write a review until I saw Lokilaki"s review. I read this very casually, started last year and left it untouched for a long time. I only finished it because it's bookmarked and I want to feel 'completed' before I remove the bookmark. The dog blood is boring, and the MC that is supposed to be a lawyer behaves more like a junior high schooler (personally I really dislike FL that are childish, or dumb and loud. The MC here is not loud, but still too childish).... more>> I finished it by skipping all the boring dog blood parts. However, to my surprise, the background story of ML's tragic little sister grabbed my attention, maybe because there are not many stories that dare to describe the fate of kidnapped children. I was stunned, and felt very sad, and I itched to know how they are going to take revenge. It's kind of a pe*verted enjoyment when we think that children kidnapping is real and it's still happening in real world, but in this case I just want to say the background story actually makes the novel more interesting, Apologies. <<less
