ML is a sociopath.

While psychopath can't feel empathy to anyone, the do have a range of feelings/emotions but TO themselves. Most of them replace empathy with logical thinking and so they abide by laws, moral rules and social cues without a problem because for them staying out of trouble is the most logical thing to live by. Obviously there are exceptions.

Sociopaths do feel empathy but they process it differently than most people (they also have a wide range of emotions and intensity too! Some less, some more), is the social phobia that makes them disregard social cues, rules, law, morals or people in power when they don't get any benefits OUT of them. And what they consider benefits (or power dinamics) comes with their moods.

Both Personality Disorder doesn't feel regret or remorse for their bad actions. But Sociopaths will analize the social implications AFTER the deed, whilst psychopath will analize it BEFORE the deed.

We see all through the novel how ML is capable of unmoral things following his mood swings so bad his agency and manager are very used to do the media cleaning. It gets into lawless when ML one-side imprinted with MC, because drama's director, staff or agency boss doesn't matter as long as he gets back with MC. He only toned down when he empathize with MC hurtful/scared feelings and his own father "pathetic life" (out of love/bond to them).
