Story:ML's half sister passed away due to the fault of FL's step brother. Originally ML wanted to find FL's half brother to take revenge but since he can't find the guy, he decides to drag the FL into his plan to bait her brother, by making her fall in love with him then ditching her in hopes that will tear the FL's brother heart apart.

ML is a scum. Can't be redeemed. He dragged the innocent FL into his revenge plan like an idiot high schooler. I thought he was a... more>> gangster boss with high IQ but nop. Bit*h you're a boss doing high business stuff yet you can't deal with this yourself? You just HAD to drag down the FL. At the end, how does that make you feel? That's right, like an idiot.

FL is a lonely individual. Girl just needed someone, even if she knows she's a tool. Now that is a level below lonely and sad. It's heart breaking. Girl can't catch a break.

This novel is angsty as all hell. Read if you want to feel the pain. I must love pain because I'm loving this novel!!! TY for the awesome translation!!! <<less

They both are flawed (yes, the FL, too). And two wrongs dont make a right. So they had to separate. (At some point)

And props to the Author for achieving that without writing about mindless abusive scenarios or setting up dumb characters as Leads.

And now for the part why I think they both messed up-

Girl didnt have much going on about her. Was a victim to her circumstances, big time. A social outcast.

To give an example, out of a total of only 2 contacts saved on her phone, one belonged to her decade old dead Mother. So yeah.

And that is why when the ML (re) enters her life, she finds a life-saving straw.

Things were going good. Until she fell for him. Hard, that is.

I mean, you're meeting him almost after a decade and he's practically a stranger now (being ex-schoolmates) but it doesnt take you even a month to mindlessly fall in love? Without the ML doing anything special to woo you or relate to you?

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲.


She just needed affection, the source? Doesn't matter. Now, were the ML a degenerate psycho approaching her masked as a friendly guy next door, what would be the difference between FL and her Mother who re-married blindly & hastily for financial reasons and successfully sabotaged her own and her child's life forever?

Hence this also explains the Title of the book "Even if its not love (its unhealthy attachment) ".

I mean yes, her circumstances were bleak already and then the ML messed her up, leaving her having suicidal thoughts.

But the ML didnt know she was this pitiful and that messing with her will totally break her psyche.

*Sigh* That is why mental health is so important. Take lessons, kids.

But when all's said and done, Yoo-Hwa is still one of the better FLs I've come across in BG novels so far.

And now the ML: Desperate Times call for Desperate Measures. But when dangerous people are desperate, they wreak havock left, right and centre. And I am not justifying him for approaching the FL with malicious intent here, no no.

He catches feelings right after they separate lol. Serves him right.

Clichéd guilt-ridden, regretful character in romance genres.

A plus point though, unlike many MLs who make the FLs/MCs "submit" via their evil ways.. Thankfully that didnt happen here. So I dont really understand the sheer amount of hate on the ML? Like he had the intent, but he didnt force her or manipulate/gaslight her to fall for him though?

His decision to involve an innocent bystander was pretty tr*shy and childish.

The Author did a good job of not wasting their ink delving into tags like smut and melodrama as it would have defeated the purpose of careful character interactions and plot. (For example any further ML-FL involvement would have made their break up messier, the evil organisation clean-up sloppier etc) <<less

Both FL and ML had tough childhood, tough life and not really healthy relationships with their family. FL was really unlucky and sad and ML only added salt to the wound.

I didn't hate him or think he was iredeemable tr*sh like some MLs, and I actually cheered for him to break her walls again and heal her heart.

It's so sad T-T but so good^^...... but the chapters are getting shorter and shorter T-T... but I love it anyway.....^^.... highly recommend for those who love sad and depressed love story..... I'm addicted.....I keep reloading the page every day even though I know it won't be updated......T-T

Just couldn't vibe with this kind of FL. I understand she's the victim of her circumstances, but honestly a woman in her position would still retain her self respect. She barely gained her freedom and worked on herself before a little bump in the road caused her to take back the scummy ML. Grovel where? All he did was continuously show up in front of her against her request and say that he regretted things over and over again. Literally the bare minimum and he couldn't even do any of... more>> what she asked of him. And yet because the FL is so starved of love and dignity she just accepts it.

The angst was nice, but personally the leads were insufferable. Especially the FL. <<less

Now this is a true angst story, big fat tears dropped at times, our female lead is tragic and there are several books where the constant tragedy feels like tragedy p*rn designed to make us sympathise with the character but what ends up happening is you get desensitized to it. I will say this book at times comes close to touching that line but really doesn't if this had another set of chapters then maybe that would have happened. If you are reading reviews you surely found out about the... more>> mixed feelings for the male lead but I feel the synopsis sets that expectation already so if the very idea of a ML being out to destroy the FL bothers you I would say this is an easy skip. So tldr is, read if you like angst and can read a romance novel where the ML makes a morally wrong decision with respect to the fl. <<less

What I like most about this novel is that author present the story from multiple point of view, where from minor to minor characters thought were given. As for the guard Woo-Nam, or the boy Seong Woo who was working with Yoo Hwa. From this versatile point of view we can judge out ML and FL more accurately who they really are.

As for ML and FL they both are victims of their ill-fated circumstances and unable to avoid those and fall into hellhole, but we know they overcome the hardship.

Most... more>> of the story was good, in a melancholic tone combining with dark reality, but the ending kinda get bland. It was alright not satisfactory. <<less

I have read the manhwa and some of the novel I can say that its a 4/5 story

its good but the feeling its angsty.... u get a depressing feeling

the FL is one of the most tragic FL I have read at least in modern stories.

The ML is good but he did mistakes and he paid them

in the end we have happy ending ... more>>

but I liked the detail in manhwa that the ML said lets marry in then novel didn't say the Marry word though he say that they belong to each other and they are together.

One of the very dramatic novels that I read on Novelupdate, I liked it, I didn't dislike the protagonists as usually happens in this type of story, obviously at the beginning the ML approaches with bad intentions but, and as the FL and the ML admit, of course Otherwise, they would not have met again, I liked the Fl, she is not the typical s*upid girl who suffers, but the ingenious girl who suffers, I also liked how the ML makes the FL her everything, I would have liked to... more>> see the ML and FL like potatoes <<less
