So far this is one of my favorites. The beginning writing style took a minute to get used to as it seemed like reading a diary rather than a story. But you could still feel everyone’s emotions and inner thoughts. I like that it shows multiple point of views, but mainly stays with the FL’s POV. FL knows the original story but seems a little OP in knowledge, and maybe some plot armor for both FL and ML.

This has all your typical tropes of Duke of the North, FL runs away, cute second ML, and crazy emperor. But it’s been original in the side characters and the plot progression. There’s a lot of moving pieces that keep the story interesting. The story is more than your typical “FL tries to run away, but doesn’t when she realizes she loves ML”. She actually executes her plan to run away, and then we learn more about the whole reason the ML’s life is like that.

It seems every character has a back story interesting enough to be its own novel. The other characters are more fleshed out than your typical Rofan. (Other than the ML who’s mainly just there to obsess over the FL. He’s your typical “only listens to FL” ML with a cute face. But I like that, so I don’t mind.) Plus FL is pretty intelligent and doesn’t fall for petty tricks. Most of what she does seems reasonable.

As a side note, her maid is crazy 😂

TLDR: Read the story. Smart FL, obsessive and cute ML, interesting plot.
