“Go Yohan, you really are a terrible bastard.”

“I can’t help it. Bullying is more fun than being bullied.”

Despite his outer appearance of a kind model student, Kang Jun was filled to the brim with an inferiority complex.

As he advanced into his second year, he grew closer to Go Yohan, who was in the same class as him.

“I’ll treat you especially different.”

At some point, as if it were only natural, Go Yohan claimed his seat at the very summit of the pyramid inside the school.

He, whose second nature seemed to be ignoring and suppressing others, showed interest in Kang Jun.

Kang Jun, who was subtly ignored by his friends for being weak, didn’t dislike Go Yohan’s interest, but…

Eighteen, the period where one’s pride took the lead and held fear of crossing the line.

Kang Jun had to make a choice to survive.

A very wise choice.

Because there's so many reviews that pretty much cover everything I'll keep it brief.

Main story; 3 stars. Awful/rushed ending.

Spoiler

ML isn't really a regretful ML, he's just super manipulative and never actually apologised for the regret making scenario/it's insinuated he set up the acid event to garner MCs sympathy... I saw it coming ngl.

Also the author literally didn't complete the actual story in the main story section- you had to read all the side stories to get there?!

Absolutely ridiculous.

[collapse]

Side stories; 3.5 stars.

Spoiler

Way more enjoyable than the main story, but the author does retcon some of the MC and MLs behaviour from the main story to make their relationship work/make them falling in love seem reasonable.

Aka, MC becomes a stereotypical Korean doormat of a bottom (wow are we surprised?) and the ML becomes even more "pitiable" so his terrible behaviour is 'excusable'...

Sorry but author-nim, you could have just left it as is, you made it clear you didn't know what to do with MLs family issues originally.

[collapse]

The Omegaverse side story; 0 stars do not read, please save yourselves from whatever horror that nonsense was.

The "actual ending"; 1.5 stars, couldn't tell if it was a weird extension of the Omegaverse side story or not...

Spoiler

No seriously, why did the MLs behaviour regress so much? Also, super unsatisfactory ending that just means the novel ended up not really progressing anywhere.

translator here, thought I might as well write a review since its been so long and so that people can get a better idea of the story before reading

in short, they're just horrible people, almost all of the characters except for maybe like two. it's like they hit a low and then keep going lower 😭 anyhow, I think thats the most interesting part of this story, the dynamics of the relationships (love, hate, love and hate repeatedly fluctuating between each other) and the way some of them think. its... more>> one of the more famous korean bls, and it relies heavily on kang juns mentality and development throughout the story because, surprisingly enough, that man does change!!

kang jun is a horrible narrator though dont let his development fool you, whatever he says should not be trusted. the story isnt fully told when you're in his pov, I guess

about go yohan... speechless. this motherf*cker left me speechless and sent me through a spiral of at least 27 different emotions. like what the hell is his problem?? what the hell is everyones problem??? but he is definitely a very well developed and fleshed out character. the more hints and facts you gather along the story allow you to piece together his sh*t storm of a life. the author does a good job of giving the characters dimension and not making them flat and basic

some people probably find this too dramatic since "they're just in high school its not that serious" which well yes is true but this is also korea with horrible bullying problems. still, kang jun didnt need to do all that idk what he was on but its still reasonable considering hes a high school student and everything is infinitely more dramatic in his eyes (even he thinks he was doing too much later on)

honestly the reason why I didnt write a review up until now is just because all I have to say is I love this novel to death and its just interesting just read it if you want to see the downfall of a**holes

Spoiler

go yohans also a regretful ml??? because of the most headache inducing misunderstanding arc where he just lets kang jun fall from grace but honestly kang jun held a grudge for that and even after they 'reunited' he didnt really forgive him (and then poured coffee over his head and told him hes always f*cking hated him)

which actually that arc did something for kang jun I mean he sent a dude to the hospital 😭😭 unlocked the inner idgaf in him it was crazy

If you're looking for a novel with complex characters, intense relationships, and just the right amount of insanity, then you need to read this. But fair warning—this story is not for everyone.

The main story takes place in an all-boys high school, where hierarchy, caution, and power plays rule the social scene. It might seem excessive at times, but if you've ever been around teenage boys, you'll know that dominance and superiority are basically their lifeblood. And this novel captures that perfectly.

The Characters – Deeply Flawed, Deeply Human

The characters in this... more>> novel are complex and morally gray. They aren't perfect, but realistic. You might empathize with them, then hate them later on. That's what makes them so fascinating.

The MC: Kang Jun – Unique, Selfish, and Realistic

He's not your typical naive, cutesy bottom. He's selfish—consciously, repeatedly selfish—and he fully acknowledges it. He makes bad decisions, sometimes terrible ones, and he knows it. But that's what makes him interesting. He does good things, but not because he believes he's a good person—rather, his actions are often driven by personal gain or the desire to feel better about himself. And honestly? That's real. Who hasn't done something good with a selfish motive, even if it's just for peace of mind? To me, as long as a good deed is done, the intent behind it doesn't matter. Yes, he's also calculative to the point you can call him opportunistic. He's also terrified of his sexuality being found out in an all boys school which adds another layer of realism to his character.

What makes him so compelling is how realistically written he is. He's not a saint, not even close. He's calculating, pragmatic, and fully aware of his flaws. But at the same time, you can't help but root for him because his personality makes sense, or atleast to me. That being said, Kang Jun will frustrate and annoy the hell out of you at times. If you need to like the MC to enjoy a story, this might not be for you. But if you're willing to be patient with a deeply flawed character, it's worth the read.

The ML: Go Yohan – Attractive. Insane. Unpredictable.

And then there's Go Yohan—the obsessive, dangerously alluring love interest. The top. He's the type of character that gets under your skin and refuses to leave. Raised in a strict Catholic family, he carries a rosemary bracelet at school, but don't be fooled—religion is more of a game to him than a guiding principle. At first, he's difficult to understand. His actions seem confusing, even contradictory. But as you read further into the novel, things start making sense. There's something about him that just keeps you interested.

Just like Kang Jun, he's not perfect. He's not a nice good person, but he's not a complete psycho either. (Atleast to the MC) He is a deeply flawed human being with his own fears and desires. And that's what makes him so damn interesting. Also if you've seen the manhwa and seen how he looks, maybe his insanely attractive looks are a factor into why you can't help but keep wanting to know about him and want to keep reading about him.

At first, he seems like the obvious better choice compared to Kang Jun's initial crush, Han Junwoo. But as the story unfolds, Go Yohan will reveal exactly who he is.

He's insanely attractive, but also insanely insane. He is both the angel and the devil.

The Romance – Slow Burn, Angsty, and Absolutely Worth It

MINOR SPOILERS:

Spoiler

Now, let's talk about the romance. This fool, Go Yohan, was OBSESSED with Kang Jun. And yet, despite so many chances for them to just get together in secret, (In my opinion those were chances and not in the character's opinions) he still manages to mess it up. Why? Because he's an idiot. I wanted to shake some sense into him so many times.

This man had everything served to him on a silver platter in the romance department and still failed to appreciate it. Sigh. This fool really had to make things difficult.

But hey, I get it. I understand why the story had to play out the way it did.

So my personal gripes are solely because of my personal feelings on the matter.

Their actual romance doesn't happen until university, and let me tell you—it is so worth the wait. Go Yohan will repent for his sins against Kang Jun, and he will do it in a very holy way (wink wink). Oh, and if you're wondering about the smut, it's in the epilogues—and yes, it's very, very sexy.

[collapse]

The Vibe – Painful, Dark, and Beautiful

This is a novel that's hard to describe because of all the different ways the drama unfolds. The characters f*ck around and find out lol.

The novel doesn't try to make you cry for the sake of drama. It just is what it is—raw, messy, and brutally honest. And despite all the frustration, I still found myself completely captivated.

And yes, they're both privileged rich kids, and you might think, "Ugh, rich people problems." But the novel also deals with realistic, universal issues—ones that make you forget their wealth even matters.

Final Thoughts – Is It Worth Reading?

It's interesting, it's dark, it's insane, it's obsessive, it's hot, it's sad—it's basically a Taylor Swift song, a Lana Del Rey song, and 'Heaven' by Troye Sivan all rolled into one.

Would I recommend it? Yes—if anything I mentioned piqued your interest, read it.

Do I have any regrets about reading it? None.

This novel drove me insane, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. If you love intense, character-driven stories, you'll be hooked. If you're willing to stick with the story, the payoff is worth it. Give it a try—you won't regret it. <<less

TLDR: Great writing with a heavily character-driven story, focused on deeply flawed, fascinating leads. Recommended if you can stomach heavy reads.

There's something very claustrophobic about being inside the protagonist, Kang Jun's head. He's neurotic, a calculative opportunist, equally self-possessed as he is insecure. He's not especially likable, but he is relatable, and he embodies teenage angst to its fullest. These petty fights jockeying for position to be the top dog at school, hiding his sexuality, the desire to avoid becoming a social pariah - these concerns are all amplified by... more>> being from the perspective of an eighteen-year-old, and Jun is far too aware of it, but can't help being s**ked into the muck regardless.

The atmosphere that the novel creates is thick and oppressive. We're constantly the witness to the calculations that Jun is making to take advantage of each situation - things that, in the grand scheme of things, feel so small - but that, for him in that moment, feel like dire matters of survival. The writing does such a wonderful job of maintaining tension throughout, with this heavy, gloomy mood. You'd think romance might lighten the mood, but nah, not here. Jun's relationship with Go Yohan is fraught with ambiguity and uncertainty.

Go Yohan himself is endlessly fascinating. He begins the story as an untouchable, but charming enigma, and as events unfold, you see him lose the veneer of effortless dominance and uh... show his true colors?
Spoiler

For me, the moment I thought, 'oh no, this is veeeery uncomfortable' did not come from when he smashed a metal chair on Junwoo (It's a Korean all boy's school; I expect violence, though, yes, that is genuinely insane). It came from when Jun discovers Yohan's stalking hobby and Yohan just completely loses his shit, screaming 'no' over and over like a child. The way he reacts to losing control is so raw, and when you see him fly off the handle in other scenes, it's unsettling in a way other red flag MLs aren't, because it feels equally vulnerable as it is terrifying. In the final side story, you get a glimpse of his perspective and it's very raw. The author did a great job of fleshing him out in all his strange and jagged edges, and his wildly swinging emotions and strange thoughts are believable.

The heavy atmosphere definitely loosens up in the side stories, where Jun goes off to college. Minus the occasional flare-ups from Yohan, they honestly have a weirdly... cute relationship? It's nothing to aspire to, sure, but they really match each other's freak. My standards may be all whack from reading too many red flag stories, so take my assessment with a grain of salt. But Kang Jun definitely loosens up and his prissy, uptight attitude even comes across as cute, later on. You can tell that he's grown into a more self-confident person, no longer needing to rely on others' validation and it feels like an exhale from a long-held breath.

[collapse]

This was a surprisingly captivating read. I don't usually like school life stories as I find them a little boring, but here, there's so much psychological meat to cut through and the writing is so enjoyable that it works. Highly recommended. <<less

I love this story so much 🥲

When I first read this I actually thought I'd just drop it after reading a paragraph. I didn't really feel like reading anything and I didn't usually read these stories... but then I ended up finishing the prologue and became interested. Then I kept reading more and became obsessed!!!

The main characters are very well written. Especially the main character. He's written in a way that makes it seriously seem like he's an actual person. He's clearly not a saint, which I like a lot.... more>> He's really calculating and on the selfish side. It's nice to read about him because that's exactly the type of personality that makes sense with the information given about him.

as for the male lead, he is crazy. What I liked about him was that he wasn't the perfect male lead that you'd normally expect. He also has struggles and flaws, and his character is written very well. He seems like this tough, almighty perfect guy, but he is still a troubled teenager with his own issues too. The novel shows that quite well.

the translation is really well done and it's easy to read. Although I'm not sure why it's stopped, I'm hoping that it is continued somehow because I can't read a word of Korean 😭 and the MTL actually makes zero sense to me..

but it's still an amazing book. The characters really seem like troubled teens (not just the main characters but everyone around them too), the story is really interesting, and everything is laid out in really nice foreshadowing. You can get an idea of what's going to happen, but you just can't be sure because the author leaves out some details until the very moment they want to reveal something. Otherwise, I don't think being a detective would be a good career choice for me...

It's seriously good and I love it sm. Definitely one of my favoritesss ❤️

this is some perfect angst. The characters are so well thought out that it makes you cringe as if you yourself are in the story. And I'm shallow so I like GYH bc he's hot lol. The MC is an extreme pushover and technically a loser imo but the story is still good. Good job on the translation

All the characters are quite literally awful people. It makes for an excellent story, though I have to admit, it left such an uneasy feeling in my gut.

Everything just keeps going downhill. MC is selfish for once and I like that, and ML definitely isn’t the best person to exist.

I was and am very invested in this. While they all suck, you can’t help but root for and empathize with many of the characters. Writing was really good. I’d say I enjoyed it a lot.

PLEASE head this warning: THE ML IS A RED FLAG, their relationship remains toxic throughout the entire story but gets slightly better during the side stories (the second to last side story is really the only time it's healthy.)

ok now onto my rant of a summary:

the novel is very good and keeps you 100% on the edge of your seat, it does an EXCELLENT job at it with our MC who is constantly afraid of being outed as gay. Bc in this school, if you are gay you get... more>> bullied and fall to the bottom of the social ladder.

the middle where all the drama happens is when the story fails for me.
Spoiler

when the ML lies (?) about his family situation and the MC trying to protect the ML and accidentally embarrassing him in front of the ML's whole family is where the story quality imo DROPS. After the ML gets humiliated unintentionally by the MC, the ML does this weird sh*t where he ruins the MC's reputation and lets him get bullied. Eventually, they figure their sh*t out with the ML protecting the MC from the acid attack.

[collapse]

For me, most of my love for this story comes from the STUNNING artstyle of the manhwa and the very well thought out characters, albeit imo the plot was lagging behind a bit. BUT! A very enjoyable story overall!! <<less

This is a novel that is difficult for me to describe. You read it and you feel pain from the reality, from the situations that arise in the novel, from the misunderstandings, from the actions of the characters. There is no forced tragedy here, everything is organic, there are light moments when you think: "Yes, everything is fine, " but at the same time it's not. However, this is the simultaneous advantage of this novel: it is what it is. At the same time, you empathise with the characters, but... more>> at the same time you think: "Well, you're an arsehole." I believe the characters in this story, they are not perfect, but that is what makes them alive. I'm reading it now and I'm very glad I found this novel <<less

I love how complex and morally grey the characters are, they aren't perfect but thats what makes me like them so much,

The MC is such a unique Character different from most bl mcs, he's selfish like most people and does everything he can to achieve what he wants and doesn't help if theres no benefits, he's also scared of being caught gay

And the ML is also complex at first everything he does is complicated to understand but as you read more and learn about him its like a firework... more>> went off in my head like "ohh thats explains why he did that" or something like that, he isn't perfect and he's not a green flag just like the MC he's in the gray zone not a sweetheart but not a pyscho he's just human that has desires and fears.

Also why did the chapters reduce like there was ch 10 pt 2 but now theres just 1 chp with 4 parts ? What happened <<less

Overview:

Usually I tend to avoid school period novels because I find the drama to be immature and feel like I'm past the age to enjoy them, but this novel was super engaging. I find the main characters to be so fascinating. Kang Jun and Go Yohan are so strange, but not in a bad way. They're very different from how I'm used to seeing characters be written. Both of them are very well developed multi-layered people with flaws, which is why the story is so interesting. I really enjoyed how... more>> the novel flowed, the author was very good at showing instead of telling. Which meant you needed to keep in mind to not take everything at face value and read between the lines. I found the power struggle between everyone, namely between
Spoiler

the MC and ML

[collapse]
really compelling.

MC (Kang Jun) :

The main inspiration for me writing this review is because I feel like he is mischaracterized by others and that there's a lot of misconceptions about him. As the story progresses it becomes more apparent that he is an unreliable narrator as some people have pointed out in the comments. I would compare him to Sul from Cheese in a Trap,
Spoiler

where his POV as the MC clouds our interpretation of people and story's events aka his thoughts/conclusions aren't always "right" or "correct".

[collapse]
So I hope people don't think too badly of him.

I liked that Jun is also a lot more mentally strong than expected and doesn't act like a damsel in distress. However, that doesn't mean he's able to overcome every problem he comes across. Which is fine! You can't win all the battles you fight. It makes him feel a lot more real because he's not infallible just because he's the MC. He's not perfect and understands his limitations.
Spoiler

Because he plays to his strengths, it makes him look underhanded. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the actions he took later on in the story. I really love characters that fight back despite the bad hands they are dealt with.

[collapse]

Keywords to think about: Love is blind.

ML (Go Yohan) :

His character is confusing, unpredictable, complex, and different from what I'm used to reading. I enjoyed slowly uncovering what his personality is truly like. It's a bit hard to talk about him without mentioning a lot of spoilers because a big part of the novel is trying to figure out his intentions, motivations, and background (something not elaborated until the literal last chapters of the side stories). Once you finish the novel everything clicks into place. From what I can understand he's definitely

[collapse]

Story spoilers:
Spoiler

if stalking the MC, beating up people that hurt MC, isolating MC, chasing away possible romantic candidates, and pretending to be pitiful to win over MC isn't a yandere I don't what is. MC is very lucky this takes place when they're high schoolers where his actions are much more limited compared to if they were adults. This hopefully also gives Yohan an opportunity to possibly grow and change.

[collapse]

Do not click if you want to enjoy the novel as it is supposed to be read:
Spoiler

His dad hit him so hard in the head (with an award Yohan himself won) that he got sent to the hospital. As a result, he developed memory problems and started to struggle in school. He pretty much has textbook symptoms of traumatic head injury and it caused him to be unable to process information properly like a normal person. Hence his super obsessiveness with the MC and why Jun constantly points out how Yohan doesn't act according to common sense and against the crowd/community. Especially when you consider how Korea follows a more collectivist culture.

[collapse]

Keywords to think about: Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.

Taesan & Junwoo:

It's interesting how initially Taesan and Junwoo almost seem more like the main characters because of how they follow the more traditional tropes of pure hearted MC and playboy bad ML we're all used to. Jun on the hand, seems more like a voyeur peeking at the protagonists. However, they leave the stage sooner than expected so that we can focus on the real main couple. But they don't disappear entirely, reappearing as background characters every now and then as if to emphasize their roles as foils to Jun and Yohan's relationship.

About future character parallels:

Spoiler

Especially since Yohan and Jun's situation later mirrors Juwoo's bullying of Taesan. Whereas Junwoo used direct physical intimidation/violence towards Taesan to control him. Yohan uses mental manipulation tactics to indirectly control Jun.

[collapse]

Ending Thoughts:

I think it's important to keep in mind Korea's cultural norms when reading this novel. Otherwise it's easy to miss some details in regards to personality and motivations. Thankfully, no smut until they go to University in the side stories. You can look forward to them because they are very well written. 👌👌👌

2024 Extra:

Spoiler

The extra really hits home how crazy omegaverse is from an outsider's POV. Too bad it's not canon. If you know about ABO, you can tell Yohan is an Alpha and is now trying to change Jun into an Omega. But if you don't know anything about ABO, it just looks like Yohan is taking drugs and trying to get Jun to take drugs too and accept his weird "worldview".

[collapse]

About Jun:

Spoiler

People who think Jun is the little lamb who got taken advantage of by Yohan, the big bad wolf, need to reread the novel.

I truly love the personalities of Jun (MC) and Yohan (ML), they're so complicated. I LOVE that neither of them are good people (morally gray tbh) and how toxic their relationship was throughout the main story (I find complicated relationships much more thrilling to read about). Honestly, Yohan isn't that terrible... ... more>>
Spoiler

he was a bright child but his father grew to resent him due to their similarities and hit the poor sleeping boy on the back of his head with a trophy, leading to Yohan's memory issues and unpredictable temper and this caused his grades to suffer and made him feel insecure. It's all that bastard's fault Yohan was like this.

[collapse]

CONS:

I don't have many complaints about the main story, but I do have a few points to mention.

    1. One issue is that Taesan and Junwoo's fates were never really delved into. They simply vanished from the main narrative and were seldom mentioned (I wish we could learn about their futures too, even if it's just a single sentence for each)
    2. There's an excessive focus on the MCs which leaves the side characters underexplored. There are some interesting side characters (besides Taesan and Junwoo) but they only appear for a few chapters before disappearing once they've fulfilled their roles.
    3. The MC remains friendless (even in the side stories). It's frustrating to see him attempt to connect with others but ultimately fail, leaving him with only Yohan in his life...
    4. Why wasn't Yohan's family background explored? The father clearly has some serious issues but the author left it untouched.
    5. Jun's clearly terrified of his parents finding out that he is gay (he even cried when the housekeeper found out and was extremely frightened) so why was this never addressed? How will he continue to make excuses once he reaches marriageable age (I can tell the parents won't accept it)... I need their reactions caused it feels so incomplete (it made me think they might just break up)
Side Story (Omegaverse) :

I seriously don't understand the omegaverse concept??? Here me out

Spoiler

They are already doing really well in the uni side story (plus I really enjoy Yohan's POV tho it was too short). Honestly, it's just smut and has no plot (the first two chapters were interesting but they're quickly abandoned because they just f*cked till the end).

[collapse]

You know what, don't bother reading it if you're looking for a plot. The only redeeming quality I found in this omegaverse is that I began to understand Yohan's father (in conclusion, he's just a crazy guy who clearly despises Yohan and Rosa because they are too much like him). <<less

As said by another reviewer, I don't recommend reading the omegaverse AU (or maybe read only the last chapter of the AU—chapter 39).

Would've preferred if Yohan's POV was written more instead of the AU, but it seemed like the author got exhausted of trying to think from Yohan's POV.

Sometimes there's no mention of who's saying which dialogue, so it really makes understanding some parts difficult even after re-reading.

... more>> Also I sometimes got bored at the high school parts, I liked the university side story more than the main story.

So 3/5 but I gave it another star because Yohan converted and how religious he is (haha, I liked reading his logical nonsense) and also because I loved the way Kang Jun thinks, especially these lines—

Spoiler

Under the flickering streetlight and an old utility pole, as dawn was about to break, there was Go Yohan, drunk. I turned my head to look at the fingers gripping my shoulder. Three fingers of his right hand were hovering slightly, unable to hold onto my shoulder.

It's strange, isn't it? The fingers that couldn't actually hold me are the ones keeping me in place.

Love the main story and side stories. This really feels like A Midsummer Night's Dream, high school BL edition. *Note: the omegaverse AU side story (chapters 30-39) is weird and creepy af and I do not recommend it at all. I like omegaverse but this one is just bizarre and almost feels like it was written by a different author, like a fan-fic.

Anyway, this story is so interesting because it's almost like it's written from the POV of a second male lead. Taesan and Junwoo feel like the stereotypical main... more>> characters (poor stubborn bright MC w/ popular obsessive yandere ML). Kang Jun is Taesan's initial interest, connecting with him over books and always treating him kindly and saving him from Junwoo - we can imagine that in Taesan's view, Kang Jun probably seems like a kind perfect human being (how many of us often get second ML syndrome?). But in reality, Kang Jun is only driven by selfish interests. It's fascinating seeing the story from his perspective. I do wish we got more side stories from all the other character's perspectives too. Go Yohan's perspective was so fun (chapter 29) and I wish it was longer. <<less

This novel stayed on my mind for weeks after reading it! Go Yohan is my absolute favourite obsessive red flag ML of all time. Jun became one of my favourite MCs. I loved their dynamic and relationship development.

I couldn’t sleep until I fully finished the novel but I urge anyone who starts reading it — skip omegaverse AU. Forget it even exists. It completely ruins the characters. I wish we could have gotten 10 more chapters of Yohan’s POV of everything that happened instead. This is coming from someone who... more>> enjoys omegaverse and is quite thick-skinned with non-con. <<less

One of my favorite MC ever. Jun is the most realistic and relatable guy I've read. While Yohan is exactly the type of enigma I would never dare be associated with.

Eighteen's bed captures the essence of h*mophobia, puberty, social norms perfectly. I can't even dare delve into it without sounding like a devotee.

What's even better is the manhwa adapted the tension in the story with a cherry on top.

All I can say is I feel sorry for Jun on a spiritual level, and Yohan is a crazy shit. The type... more>> of crazy you'd see in a fever dream. Yohan is so well written I wanna smack him for making me doubt myself multiple times.

I highly recommend this story hands down. Better if you go blind and just read it without knowing anything <<less

Main Story - 8/10 I really liked how nuanced both main characters are and I appreciate how they developed throughout the story, especially how it seemed that

Spoiler

KangJun finally grew a spine somewhere near the very end, and Go Yohan got the karma he deserves with that acid hit lol. I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He deserves to be punished more, and a better, braver author would have made him go through harder punishments. Unfortunately this author seems to love him.

Side Stories - 4/10 I was hoping to see a braver, better KangJun with a spine in these side stories but

Spoiler

we don’t get that at all. In that sense these side stories are very unnecessary as they feel like a rehash of the main story from the beginning when the two main characters started getting along, with the only difference being the introduction of a new annoying side character to push KangJun around. It’s infuriating how he just lets it all happen. But more infuriating than this is how he still lets Go Yohan screw him around. I guess the author just completely gave him amnesia of his sufferings during high school lol.

I wish the side stories never existed. <<less

While the writing and translation are good, I didn't really like the characters but if you can overlook some of the things done both by the MC and the ml, I guess you'd probably like it since it's well written.

You have to bear in mind that the protagonists of the novel are in no way green flags, I definitely can't empathize with them as a few reviews/comments suggest however they are indeed morally grey, being neither outright good or bad ; each of their actions have a reasoning behind it... more>> though it might not be understandable (or at least I didn't).

All in all, I personally didn't enjoy the novel in it's entirety as it involves a lot of manipulation between both the MC and ml,

I was really bothered and disgusted with the ML because of the bullying, but as someone who have been through it as well, I'm probably more sensitive about it and couldn't forgive the ml, even when having his pov,

which led me to drop the novel but as long as you don't expect a fluffy green flags novel, you might want to check it out for its psychological aspect (not for its healthy relationship) and the way it's written (that's mainly the reason why I gave such rating, while not exceptional, had it been worse the rating would have been lower).

(Also I'm sorry for any mistake, English isn't my first language) <<less
