Light and naive MC.

Easy way to pass time.

The only issue is translator keeps censoring the content unless you pay. I gave up after seeing there is no way to access the censored content without paying. I don't want to read cut content.

Warning:

Translator censors content for money

-

... more>> I was really enjoying the novel, enough to pre-pay for chapters if that was an option. Unfortunately, the translators ruined the entire experience by removing a bunch of content and replacing it with red "CENSORED" text. The only way to reveal that censored text? Monthly Fee.

I don't care what is actually under the censored text, but knowing that I'm not reading the entire story unless I pay is very aggravating. It's like if a video game censored content and then later forced you pay to get it back, not an enjoyable situation.

Would probably give the novel 3 or 4 stars, but again the censorship fee just ruins the entire thing for me and I doubt another translator will come along.

Edit: Googling the books title "魔王神官I" I was able to easily find the original text and google translate it, the google translation is surprisingly readable. <<less

The story is slight above average, the translation, sadly not with a censored content that you need PAY MONTH.

Very strange of me finding a chinese novel that arent xianxia and more like a fantasy type (isekai japanese cough).

About the harem, ugh so far too much cliche.

Leaving aside that the premise is basically an exact copy of Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou.

Leaving aside the fact that the description is basically only a description of who he is at the start and what girls he'll collect in his harem.

Leaving aside the fact that a lot of numbers will be thrown at you from the start without anything to give them relevance, and in fact they're quickly proven meaningless ("I'm 4th rank" later "my barrier can definitely block an attack from a 6th rank").

I highly dislike the fact that... more>> when the protagonist meets the first harem candidate the author makes it very clear that he's attracted to her because she's immature (not even in spite of that) and in fact can barely hold himself back from attacking her. That and the fact that she saved him and he didn't even feel an ounce of gratitude toward her, only lust - while holding himself back only because it's shameful (not because she's too young, mind you, but just in general it's shameful to be attracted to women) - makes me disgusted and definitely not willing to read any further.

2/5 just because the reading experience is decent enough, but the content is not worth reading unless you can't get enough of japanese ecchi harem romcoms aimed at lolicons. <<less

This is a very good novel. Don't let the tags scare you or hesitate you from reading this. The character development is very good and the cast of characters is quite rich. Plus there multiple mysteries to be solved. One being why does our Protagonist wish to become Priest when there are so many ways he could help others? The novel is filled with good interactions and some good developments. It shows how our MC grows after obtaining the Book of Demon King. He doesn't become arrogant due to the... more>> power of demon king. The darkness strength the Demon King has, he barely uses it. He also doesn't get inflated and start looking down on everyone. He remains like he was before except a minor side effect from Cultivating the books of other demon kings. Most probably the MC is getting farther and farther from his dream of becoming Priest. But he doesn't intend to give up except the Book of Demon King's Familiar Aya doesn't seem to think of the same. Go read it if you know chinese. It's set in a Western Fantasy World with magic and swordsmanship.

Ps: the author is a lolicon so just skip those descriptions he gives if you find any. They aren't quite normal. <<less

Pretty average demon king Chinese novel. Your average fairly talented guy encounters danger then awakens to a new power. The first harem member he meets is pretty cliche too, a cute loli. Also cliche power system, ascending in number, but pretty pointless considering you can just jump levels like any cultivation novel. I’m gonna keep reading forward cuz it’s not terrible, but it’s nothing great either.

5 stars for harem tho, cuz there isn’t enough new harem novels being translated :)

The novel is fine, but is supercensored, and TL keeps doing it just for more in patreon... I totally agree with the TL wanting to earn his part, but I'd prefere 100 ads than that, and like most, I wont give a good review about this...

An average novel (so far), and it further happens to be not my cup of tea.

Let's go through things one by one.

Setting is okay so far, but the author is too much of an otaku. When this manifests in irrelevant jokes, it's okay, but when it manifests in introducing characters from Fate/Stay Night (Saber, Hercules and Ilyasviel or whatever was Hercules' master called) and keeps on spamming lolis (and s*x with lolis), I don't feel so good, Mr. Frodo. I mean, legal lolis are still fine (unless they're primary school... more>> students or worse in appearance), but... Well, if only the author could have such a bottom line.

Plot is kind of fine. It's generally an interesting idea that is being executed in an interesting way. It makes the reader anticipate what will come next, though I kind of lost it the place where I stopped because I can see what will happen next (there are two situations going on, and I dislike both), so I lost my already wavering will to read on.

The characters are good, objectively speaking. They have aspirations, emotions, thoughts of their own, inner conflicts, some degree of character growth maybe, and I can't really come up with any criticism right off the bat.

Subjectively speaking, however, I don't really like the characters all that much. The protagonist is too much of a doormat for me. I mean, given the setting, he's probably the only kind of harem protagonist that has the right to be as dense and accommodating as he is (as the synopsis says, he's always wanted to be a celibate priest, so why would these things be weird), but that sort of archetype doesn't fit harem genre at all if you ask me, so reading this story is a bit tiring for me as I struggle with my suspension of disbelief and general acceptance of the conflict between the protagonist and the genre.

As for love interests, like I said, stop with the lolis and Fate characters. Also, the author is too much in a hurry to introduce new characters when he has yet to flesh out the previous ones.

Regarding other side characters, so far, male ones are either forgotten or die lol. Meanwhile, all female characters are at least prospective waifus. Another minus. It makes you not care about any men who appear and there's no tension regarding future harem lineup.

Other than that, f*ck the translator. I appreciate that he translates the novel, but censoring s*x scenes and providing them at a cost is a joke, especially when this ret*rd even censors French kiss scenes. Like bro, that's not how you earn money - this is how you infuriate the readers instead.

If you want to read the censored scenes, just use google translate and copy-paste the Chinese book name in google. It's not that hard to find chapters as long as you know how to read Chinese numbers. <<less
