In that time, they’ve faced many adversities together.

From the fierce opposition of an elderly duchess to the prying eyes of the world around them.

At the end of the arduous journey we had traversed, ironically, was my man’s boredom.

The questioning tone is perplexed.

“Stop doing what?”

For some reason, to Rasha, those words sounded like, ‘don’t bother me anymore.’

He took another glance at the clock and was out of the room.

Maybe I don't have the right to rate this novel so low, since I decided to read this novel by my own risk, despite being warned by the novel's description of the male lead's rotten character.

But the novel seemed to have such creative theme (boredom), that I couldn't let it go of my disappointment after reading the story, thus the low rate.

This novel is discussing something very interesting: the Neuroscience of Love, like explained in the following article:

"Romantic love often starts with a spark. When we fall in love, we... more>> feel excited and even euphoric. Our initial heart pounding is due to high stress hormones, leading us to be narrowly-focused. The focus is on earning the heart of the one we are attracted to. At this time, the frontal cortex of the thinking brain is less active. So, we tend to overlook their shortcomings. As a relationship is established, cortisol goes down and the natural mood stabilizer serotonin returns to normal. We become more comfortable around our partner than excited. And we also begin to notice more than their good side. The flip side of feeling secure is boredom.

When we get used to each other's presence, we tend to take them and what they do for us for granted. The brain has to work nonstop, so it tries to save energy as much as possible. The brain stops paying attention to what it perceives as normal. That is why it is easy to forget the positive qualities that initially attracted you to your partner. The brain's energy-saving function doesn't always serve us well. Love always takes effort."

Boredom in a relationship is a subject I never saw being discussed in the other romantic novels I read.

And it's super interesting, because I feel that boredom and daily routine are common things that happens in majority of normal relationships and that if the couple doesn't work together to overcome all that, it can lead to break ups, affairs, indifference and unhappiness.

But I think that when the couple go through this boredom, even if the passion and sparkles aren't there anymore, what shows that the couple really loved each other and what makes they stay together is the respect and fondness for each other. You may be bored, but you still respect and you still care for that person.

I thought that's what I was going to read in this novel. A couple struggling with their boredom, but due to the respect and fondness for each other, after seven years of staying together, they would struggle but try to find a solution, like said before, love always takes effort 🥰.

But the story was a bath of cold water because of the cliche troupe "douchebag male lead x weak female lead"... 😑

Spoilers ⛔️! Actually I don't even think that is worth to read my detailed review and spoiler to such short novel that you can finish in one hour. But I think the purpose of my review is more for me to vent than anything else 🙄.

The Plot

The story is exactly like is explained in the novel's description.

A beautiful commoner (Rasha) and a handsome noble (Chedev) fall in love.

They face adversities to be able to stay together.

But after seven years of relationship, the love started to cooling off, at least for the male lead and their relationship looked more like a way to release his pent up lust, than a romantic relationship.

So, the douchebag male lead gets engaged to a noble lady, without even notifying the female lead.

Female lead discover about the fact, ask for break up but male lead only felt annoyed. Female lead discover that she is pregnant and ran away.

Male lead regret deeply, look for female lead everywhere.

They reunite and live happily ever after 🤮.

She's kinda too weak.

People can even try to justify her weakness saying that she was only a commoner and didn't hold any power in the relationship and because of that she had to abide to the noble and powerful male lead.

But that's not true at all, because actually...

... female lead discovered a long time ago that she was actually from a noble family, but decides not to go after it because she thought that their relationship was enough.

Which doesn't make sense at all, since she refused to marry male lead, because she thought how a noble marrying a commoner would bring suffering and discomfort for both of them, that would need to keep facing the disapproval and prejudice of the other nobles... Considering that she could have fixed all that by going after to being recognized as a noble lady (which she did in the end of the novel 😑...) No comments...

Besides, I hated how she humiliated herself by...

... becoming only a hole that he could stick his d*ck whenever he felt h**ny. And she knew that, but afraid of annoying him, she didn't say or did anything (she only reacted after his engagement).

... with her naked having s*x with him, while he was totally impeccable dressed because he had to go to a meeting after the deed, and after finishing himself up, he would turn his back to her... Argh 🤮...

The worst about him is that...

he didn't even have a tragic past to justify his douchbagness... not abusive family or suffering of any kind, which is even worse because that only proves that his behavior was only lack of character 💩.

For me, if he really was a decent human being and really loved female lead, even after feeling bored in the relationship, he would still have respect and fondness for her.

But, nope...

... he got engaged to a noble lady, letting the female lead discover the fact by herself, only using female lead as a vessel for his sperm and getting annoyed every time she tried to discuss their relationship (aka break up)

My sadistic side got really happy and excited 😊 while reading about...

... his suffering after the female lead ran away (suffering that wasn't enough in my opinion).

Some can say, "OMG, he suffered so much! He even tried to commit su*cide after not finding female lead after a couple of months of separation... "

But I only thought, "So what? He only brought that for himself... if he didn't lack character, they wouldn't get to that point... "

Besides, the first thing he did after finding the female lead, was...

... cry his heart out, knee and beg while grabbing her thighs asking for forgiveness, right?

Nope, he tried to kill the man that he thought imp**gnated female lead (detail, he was the man that imp**gnated her but he didn't know🙄 - What an idiot!) and he also dragged her back by force and locked her up by his side (he even thought of using some shackles on her).

Also, the engagement with the noble lady...

... was nothing like "the Emperor forced me to get engaged for political reasons" or "the family of that noble lady was threatening my title and if I lost everything I would not be able to protect you anymore".

No, he got engaged as a convenience for him and what is even worse, while thinking rationally he didn't even think of breaking up the engagement because while trying to find the female lead, he postponed the marriage! (Does that means he would keep going with the marriage after finding the female lead?)

And he only broke up after losing his rationality after his future father in law offended the honor of his mistress (honor that he never gave to her to start of, since he let her have the status of mistress for seven years).

Another thing that irked me is that...

after seven years together, he never thought of improving the life of female lead, like helping her study and learn how to write and read, since as stated in the novel, she didn't have proper education for being a commoner and couldn't read a book.

In the end...

he cried and asked for forgiveness for only a night and to show his "sincerity, " he gave her a s*upid magic stone, that contained his blood 🩸 or soul, which contained a type of oath, and if he stopped loving her or betrayed her again he would die or something like that, actually I didn't even understand very well that part 😅.

And alas! As if a magic stone and death threatening would change his character and prevent him of getting bored in the relationship.

If that really worked, death penalty would prevent crimes of being committed around the world, but people still committed horrendous crimes even with the risk of being sentenced to death.

Which in my opinion, given his lack of character, only makes me think that he would get bored again after some years. And probably, RIP 👻 male lead, which would be the real happy end 🤗.

I've been craving looking for a novel with an ML who miserably suffered to the point that he was suicidal after losing the FL all thanks to his dumb a$$ - and this novel definitely delivered!

The smut part was just a delicious bonus.

It's a beautiful redemption story. Relationships are not battlefields but more like partnerships so when problems arise (because they will come) it's necessary to deal with them.

The ML grew accustomed to the relationship and started taking the FL for granted. Communication was skewed and so things went bad. They worked it out at the end and sometimes unless you put yourself or are forced to be in the other's shoe you won't understand their feelings and that's what happened here.

The story was beautifully written and the translations was awesome.... more>> I now understand why older couples advice you to continue dating and doing things together even after a long relationship because boredom can be such a scary thing. <<less

Um. Respectfully, not the most tr*sh ML but pretty damn toxic. Their relationship realistically shouldn't have turned out the way that it did, imo. ML didn't listen to a single word FL said. I was a little too distracted by this to pay attention to the smut. There wasn't really a satisfying resolution which is why I rated this so low. If you're there for the smut, then go at it but it's not much (and kinda vanilla >.<). It is of note that I am not a fan of... more>> the typical trope of 'the ML has a huge dong and will break the FL if he goes too hard' in smut. V*ginal tears are real and not sexy. <<less

A short repent version similar to cry, even better if you beg.

only regrets when it was too late.

This is a beautiful story, I'm here for short smut but satisfied after finished reading. It's a normal thing in life to get bored and forgot what important most to you.

Give this book a chance, read and try to understand point of view from both of them. It's deserved a 5 stars.

"Sometimes we wouldn't cherish what we had till it's gone" I think this sentence perfectly described ML in this story. Boredom was unavoidable especially in the long-term relationship but the way ML dealt with it put a strain in his relationship with FL. There's also another external factor such as ML's choice to have a business marriage without consulting her.

Then came the angsts. FL had enough while ML finally realized his s*upidity. While he arguably was a j*rk who failed to cherish FL when she's still by his side, it's... more>> undoubtedly that he indeed loved FL. So when he went through the agony (which was well-described by the author) after losing her, I also didn't have a heart to keep being angry at him, moreover FL.

I'm glad that things finally worked out between them in the end because they're each other's happiness. <<less

This actually good for a short smutty novel (angst + second chance)

I initially disliked the ML and his deeds, however, his actions and status of their relationship (noble and commoner mistress) were actually realistic especially during their time. Both of them thought that their love will last forever... that it made ML secure on their relationship that he took FL for granted. Bc she's always on his side that he momentarily forgot to appreciate her existence until she's gone.

Ending between FL (Rasha) & ML (Chedev) was really acceptable when... more>> they still loved each other in their own way. The ML already suffered consequences and realized his mistakes (despite turning on the Yandere Mode lol)

The half-brother (Kaim) was also gem in this story. He's funny and kind that he cared for his step-sibling despite being estrange. <<less

I was not disappointed by the review that said the ML suffered. I was always mad that FL always forgave the ML so easily in all the novels, so this really satisfied my craving to see them suffer.
