The man showed up 20 minutes late.

A staged scene, a predetermined outcome.

She wished that this staged blind date wouldn’t start, but Yu-ju struggled to hide her true feelings and put on a smile.

“I’m going to marry you, Do Seung-han.”

“So, are we going to start dating or something?”

There was nothing to be gained by acting arrogant. She just had to put up with him for half a year. But he tested Yu-ju’s patience at every turn.

“Is tormenting people your hobby?”

“I’m thinking of making it my hobby from now on.”

What a j*rk. What a rude b*stard. This shameless…

He touched her as he pleased, probed her at will, and treated her arrogantly. Do Seung-han immediately threw Yu-ju into a state of confusion.

So that she couldn’t clear her head.

So that she couldn’t escape him.

“Behave yourself. As if you don’t even exist.”

A horrifying marriage charade was grandly unveiled.

What awaited at its end remained unknown.

Very generic trope arranged marriage, the runaway wife, the looming divorce arc, but rating it 5 stars for the sole reason that I love how the ML character is written here. I have a known weakness for cold, untouchable, as*hole male leads. You know the type. The ones who spend most of the story looking down on everyone else like feelings are a personal inconvenience, only to absolutely lose their grip on reality the second they realize they might lose the female lead. Watching a high-and-mighty man get dragged to... more>> his knees by desire is one of life’s simple joys, and yes, I will happily die on this hill.

Ive said it before, I don’t mind red flags. What I do mind is lazy writing. If you’re going to give me an obsessive male lead, make it convincing. Make it suffocating. Make it feel earned. I want obsession that starts subtle, seeps into every crack, and tightens until escape is no longer an option. This story understood the assignment.

I loved watching his entire world slowly shrink until she became the center of it. His once-empty existence gains purpose, meaning, and obsession all wrapped up in one woman. This isn’t a gentle love story. It isn’t balanced or healthy. It’s consuming.

This story is deliciously toxic. I should not have enjoyed it as much as I did, but here we are.

Big thanks to the translator, please don’t ever stop updating. I am emotionally dependent now. 🥹 <<less

I finished this but tbh I'd only give it a 6/10. The writing (translation) was good. There were moments in the beginning that were heavy and atmospheric and I appreciated the author for going to the trouble of building suspense and foreshadowing... There were bits where FMC compared the bleakness of her life to inanimate things around her, and I thought that was very nicely done.

However, the characterisation ultimately was incoherent and inconsistent. FMC claimed early on she wanted to "ruin" him, yet her constant running away and "giving up"... more>> didn't match up to that energy. She had moments where she'd slap her twin sister's adoptive brother that felt like it came out of nowhere. There was a buildup of that brother as the second ML but it also felt off and didn't have a great buildup. I could not for the life of me understand at which point ML started falling for her, which to me is a pretty important part of a romance.

That said, I think the initial smut scene was really well done. Their dialogue, how they ended up there—that was great. It didn't feel out of the blue; his shady comments in their last meeting was clearly leading up to it, so it was delicious. On the other hand, the subsequent smut scenes were less and less enticing until by the end I was just skimming ahead. Less is more, ya know?

Good writing, could use some improvement. I'll keep following this author to see if how her craft develops. <<less
