The day when Mi Yang finished paying off the mortgage, he laid down and slept soundly.

When he woke up, he found that the house was gone, the car was gone, the job was gone, and even his savings were gone =口=!

A young couple dressed in old military uniforms were still teasing him with a rattle, “Yang Yang! Are you happy?”

Mi Yang was not happy at all!!

But he couldn’t even protest, because he was now bound in a swaddle and had turned into a baby.

He had returned to 1988.

A very sweet and easy childhood friends to lovers story. Rather than a dramatic rebirth, Mi Yang's rebirth is all about the little changes and just enjoying life to the fullest. The story is very slice of life and follows Mi Yang and Bai Luochuan's years together, from infanthood to adulthood.

Bai Luochuan is cold to strangers/acquaintances, warm to family type. Very clingy and territorial to Mi Yang but like isn't too excessive about it. Mi Yang is very gentle and easygoing but dotes and indulges Bai Luochuan loads. At the... more>> end of the day, Bai Luochuan is so clingy because Mi Yang indulges him.

If you enjoy childhood friends to lovers, this is a good read. Growing up together, always intertwined in each others lives. There's no real love rival or misunderstanding, just some little jealousy here and there.

It's not too idealistic in that coming out to family is still a concern and they don't immediately start dating openly but it's not excessively realistic where there's the uphill societal struggle. There's also like two other gay/implied couples which is kinda funny considering the trope of everyone is gay in bl novels.

My favourite side characters were probably the grandparents of both sides.
Spoiler

I like how they were the most accepting and supportive just because they dote on the grandkids the most.

[collapse]

My least favourite character is definitely ML's dad. Very old school mentality.

The only thing that I never got was Mi Yang's opinion about Bai Luochuan pre rebirth. The timeline is a bit confusing but it's hard to get a sense of their relationship, was Mi Yang just very dense? Or was Bai Luochuan just very awkward. The rebirth itself does get explained and it's clear Mi Yang doesn't fully remember the events leading up until later.

Otherwise, still a peaceful and cute read. <<less
