Falls, fractures, and withdrawals—Koike Ren never imagined he would return to the competitive arena. That is, until a certain Seijoh setter appeared.

Oikawa watched the figure skating prodigy before him, who had just relearned how to walk and jump. “So, are you fully recovered now?” The genius skater gave a shy smile. “It’s probably a psychological issue.”

Despite that, he possessed incredible jumping height, superb flexibility and control, and physical stamina far beyond the average person. “In that case… why not try playing volleyball?” Oikawa mused. Oikawa wanted him. Oikawa successfully abducted the figure skating genius into the volleyball club.

Iwaizumi: “You tr*shykawa… you’re gonna get beaten up for this.”

Ushijima: “Koike, I thought you would come to Shiratorizawa.”

Victor: “Yuuri, your little junior is back on the ice! What? You said the Grand Prix? No, it’s the Spring High!”

“Aren’t you a genius? What an arrogant answer.” After losing to Shiratorizawa once again, Oikawa finally opened up to someone—but he received no comfort.

“To those who don’t even have the right to stand before this net, aren’t you also a ‘genius among geniuses’?” The curse of years finally shattered in that moment. Oikawa looked at the young skater.

“I always wonder where the baseline for a ‘genius’ is,” Koike Ren said, turning back and speaking with a cruel gentleness. “When I moved up to the senior division at thirteen, I naturally thought I was an invincible super-genius. It wasn’t until I stood on the world stage that I realized… even the person who came in last place in that competition is a one-in-a-billion genius.”

Those gray eyes gazed tenderly at Oikawa, leaving a deep imprint on the young setter’s life. “So, for what reason did you choose to play volleyball?” he asked.

Years later, during Oikawa’s championship interview, the legendary setter gave a secret wink to his black-haired, gray-eyed lover standing off-court. Countless versions of his past self seemed to speak in unison at that exact moment: “Because I truly love volleyball.”
