Please use proper spacing and paragraphs. In his previous life, Ning Shuyan served as the Crown Prince’s study companion, dedicating his entire life to helping that hopelessly incompetent prince scheme for the throne.
Reality proved one cruel truth:
No matter how hard two fools struggled, they still couldn’t outplay a single Regent Prince.
In the end, Ning Shuyan died miserably—alone, abandoned, and utterly ruined.
After being reborn, he immediately decided:
Screw this. I quit.
Ning Shuyan sighed at the Crown Prince. “Your Highness… since we clearly don’t have what it takes, how about we just give up the throne? I’ll take you traveling instead.”
The Crown Prince nodded readily. “Sounds good.”
But after they withdrew from all political struggles, the Regent Prince unexpectedly came to find them personally.
And he brought a proposal.
As long as Ning Shuyan agreed to marry into the Regent Prince’s manor as his consort, the Regent Prince would support the Crown Prince for the rest of his life.
Ning Shuyan nearly panicked himself to death.
“This is a conspiracy! He wants to use me as a hostage! Your Highness, you absolutely must not agree—”
Meanwhile, the Crown Prince’s advisors exchanged thoughtful looks.
“…Or,” they suggested carefully, “this could be the perfect opportunity to place a spy beside him. You’d literally become the man sleeping next to him every night.”
And just like that—
This absurd marriage was finalized.
After marrying into the prince’s manor, Ning Shuyan set himself two major goals:
First: Cause as much chaos as possible.
Second: Closely monitor every move the Regent Prince made.
Unfortunately, his rebellion suffered immediate setbacks.
The first day he planned to make trouble, he couldn’t even get out of bed.
The next time he gathered the courage to stir up chaos, he was dragged back onto the bed again.
No matter how outrageously Ning Shuyan behaved, the Regent Prince always cleaned up after him effortlessly.
Even when he damaged the manor’s reputation, the man would shamelessly twist black into white to protect him.
Worst of all, the Regent Prince insisted on sleeping in his chambers every single night—so often that court attendance was nearly delayed multiple times.
Then one night, while pretending to sleep to avoid certain “marital duties,” Ning Shuyan overheard the Regent Prince murmuring softly beside him:
“What exactly do I lack compared to him? Why were you so determined to stay by his side? ”
“This time… I absolutely won’t let you leave me again.”
