During a dinner party at a secluded mountain villa, while the invited guests are engaged in a strange game over an ultra-luxury clock, the owner of the villa, a female writer named Mori Reiko, is met with an unnatural death in her study.

With this, the curtain rises on a deadly game of deduction!

Embroiled in the game are Enomoto, a crime prevention consultant (whose main profession is a thief!?), and the lawyer Junko, who tries to solve the mystery of a perfectly locked room protected by the wall of time…

Note: “Wall of time” here means alibi.

This was an okay read. This seems to be a series of locked room mystery stories, with Enomoto as the recurring main character who comes in and solves it. The latter half of the novella (it's a short read) is basically Enomoto explaining to the rest of the cast (and you) how the crime was done. This is the fourth book in the series, so perhaps this would be more enjoyable if you read the previous volumes. As for Enomoto himself, ... more>>
Spoiler

the story repeatedly emphasizes how he's a thief as well, and it seems like he'll just abscond with the Mystery Clock by the end. However, the story just abruptly ends right after Enomoto explains to everyone who the culprit is and how he did it. Like, "he was arrested. The End." almost. How the crime was committed is just as nonsensical and crazy as you'd expect from a mystery story.

TL: Moonlight Novel's TL seems like a solid read. There were a few odd choices, like leaving the word for "obtain" untranslated at one point. They also can't decide whether to stick with square meters or tsubo. <<less
