Important note! Translation for this novel is absolutely awful. There's either no spacing, or too much spacing. It's Webnovel translation though, so what can you expect? It does however improve after chapter 5! Before that, try to trudge through the - clearly - unedited horror.

You may be asking... is this reviewer an idiot? 5 stars for this 'tr*sh'! Okay, okay... you have a point - I was a bit too generous! But what happened between chapter 1 and 3 was such a wonderful cliche breaker! The protagonist gets framed, loses... more>> his v**ginity, and takes revenge all in 3 chapters! Is the novel rather chuunibyou? Of course it is, it's clearly wish-fulfillment!

But from what I've read so far, this novel has a different pacing than the rest of 'old monster reincarnates into modern setting' novels. For one, the protagonist is clearly acting like his age. Ruthless, and arrogant! Just as a hegemon ought to be. You don't become a hegemon by showing mercy, and letting your enemies build up traction! No, you simply assassinate them! Oh course... so far there's demonic vibes to the novel...I'm clearly loving that! If the demonic vibe is gone, then expect me to plummet this novel to a 1. It's only redeeming feature is the characterisation of the protagonist is unexpectedly dark.

Give it a try. Expect cliches, but for the protagonist to navigate them a bit different from the usual. <<less

Interesting premise, but bad execution.

The story tries to survive with exaggerated reactions and girls.

The writing is bad, the author clearly is inexperienced as he abrubtly jumps from one telling to another.

So far, it seems as if the author tried to fit EVERY SINGLE CLICHE into his novel at once.

  1. The cliche fatty best friend
  2. Meets multiple powerful people when he first arrives.
  3. The original is hated and useless
  4. He saves women multiple times
  5. Fights multiple bad people
And every single event seems EXTREMELY forced. Like he met that Rose woman and somehow impressed her by saying her drink suck like what???? Then her club is attacked and then the MC beats them up. He goes to a random party, and some random guy just picks a... more>> fight with the MC. <<less

It's tr*sh.

If you're after face slapping and reactions then you can consider this as a Poor rating; otherwise don't even touch it.

The main character is a Gary Stu that acts like a child despite supposedly being some kind of ancient demon emperor or something.

The story might get a plot in the future but there's nothing at the moment.

Avoid.

This novel is a cringe fest. Actual score 1.5/5.

When I read this novel, I understood personally what Koreans mean when they say their arms cramp, shiver, or whatever from cringe as I felt the same sensation in my arms today. It's a pity because I had some expectations for this novel.

The premise is good. A demon emperor (or whatever cliche thing) got reborn on Earth and he's acting cool. The novel also started well when he was at least pretending to be a student (not for long, by the way).... more>> However, it very soon devolved into a massive cringe fest where basically someone offends MC, he teaches them a lesson, they run away and then come back for revenge (sometimes rinse and repeat the three steps so far), and then they exhaust his patience and he kills them or beats them into submission.

This novel is basically the author taking cliches from face-slapping novels and BLATANTLY (this cannot be overstated) stuffing them into the novel. Like, the author's not even trying to hide it, or maybe he just sucks at writing, and that's why it feels that way.

The characters are cringe too. The protagonist doesn't really live up to the premise (he seems ok at first glance, but details are what gives him away), harem is big meh, and the rest, like I said, are usually opponents that are split into those the MC kills and those that submit to him. His fatty friend (the clichest of cliches) was also a big cringe in terms of how he ended up (if I can use this phrase having read only 100 chapters).

There's almost no original plot. It's all revolving around faceslapping, so the whole novel feels very stiff and artificial. Except the beginning, into which the author actually did put some effort, misleading me into having expectations for the novel and wasting several hours on it.

The only good thing is that there's good MTL that doesn't really feel like one (novelhi). You can still tell every so often, but it's very readable for MTL.

Don't waste your time like me. <<less
