Wings are a divine grace bestowed by God, and every angel wears theirs with pride. Mianmian was born to the Six-Winged Archangel,
destined to be the next candidate for Archangel and the most noble little prince of the Heavens. Yet, when the holy light shone upon him
during his Wing-Bestowal Ceremony, his back remained tragically bare.
He was a wingless child.
The angels, proud, disciplined, and supposedly compassionate, despised him. While their self-righteousness stayed their hands from taking his life,
they could not endure his presence.
Mianmian was exiled to the Demon Realm and branded with a new name: Seroia, meaning “The Child Abandoned by God.”
The first time the Demon King met Seroia: The King’s expression was icy as he pinched the boy’s chin, watching the child tremble, too terrified to speak.
“Crybaby,” the King sneered. But that night, he secretly ordered nutrient fruits to be delivered to the boy and commanded the sacred birds of the Abyss to sing him a lullaby.
The next time the Demon King met Seroia: Seroia stumbled backward in fear, falling to the ground. “Idiot,” the King barked, his face darkening.
Yet his actions betrayed his words; he bent down to scoop the boy into his arms, his palms brushing gently over Seroia’s bruises.
The nth time the Demon King met Seroia: The King’s expression was nothing but tender. As Seroia lunged into his arms, the King lifted him high,
and placed him upon the throne beside his own. He took the boy’s hand in his and declared:
“In the name of the Lord of the Abyss and the Third Demon King, I crown you. You shall possess boundless magic, vast territories, the unwavering loyalty of demons, and the adoration of the entire realm. You are my only godson, the undisputed Fourth Demon King of the Abyss.
My dearest Seroia.”
Years later, after Seroia evolved into a unique, eight-winged entity, the Heavens came crawling back. The Archangel looked down upon him with feigned magnanimity,
“forgiving” his perceived vulgarity and offering him a return to grace.
“Kneel and give thanks,” the Archangel commanded coldly. “This is God’s mercy.”
Seroia looked up at the power within his reach, then turned his back on it without a second thought. With a single strike of his sword, he sealed the gates of Heaven
and ran toward the horizon. Gold ornaments shattered, pearls scattered, and the magnificent jade palaces collapsed into ruins behind him. As the angels hovered
in the dust, disheveled and humiliated, Seroia leaped barefoot into a cloud of black mist.
“Godfather,” he whispered. “Take me home.”
Seroia never truly meant “The Child Abandoned by God.” In the language of the Abyss, it means “The Darling of Darkness” and “The Treasure of Demons.”
The angels were blind to the treasure they held, mistaking a priceless pearl for a common pebble.
