Novel is 10/10 - it's written so beautifully and vividly, especially the interactions between the main characters. I could really feel their complex emotions with them..

The plot is also so good, I felt like the author wrote with a lot of thought and care into crafting the story, and one thing I really liked is how this novel didn't force stereotypes that I've seen in other novels. In other novels, I feel like certain misunderstandings would've dragged out longer but in this story, because the author put a lot of... more>> thought in character development, as a reader, you're able to trust (?) the characters to act in a way that prevented dragged out misunderstandings? I don't know if this makes sense, so just read it.

Spoiler

I also really love the main character, Echinacea. Most of the times when characters go back into the past, they use their knowledge of the future for self-gain, to get richer, etc. which is fine (I'd totally do the same), but she uses it purely to save people, to the point she's willing to risk her own life, multiple times. She's so strong and isn't afraid to put shitheads in their place, but she's also extremely hard on herself because of what happened in the first timeline. Her self-loathing is intense, and the author described it so detailedly that it's very very sad to read... like you can understand why she feels the way she does, so it's not annoying like when other characters victimize themselves. I cannot think of two main characters who are kinder to each other but unkindest to their own selves, and I think that polarity is what makes me love their love story so much more.

Also this had the best ending and side stories imo. It might not be a lot of fluff, and while I wish there were more fluff but at the same time, I felt like the story was perfect the way it is. Like a perfectly content meal. Honestly this is my #1 favourite novel, beating even In this life I'll be the lord. <<less

Came from the manhwa. I actually like that MC goes back in time and then uses her knowledge to save people. The internal dialogue is funny. I kind of enjoyed the banter with the sword that's always inciting her to kill while she tries to keep a calm facade. Also her behaviour with the other knights is interesting. I liked how she was indifferent at first only wanting to get rid of the sword but then she actually forms bonds with people and she doesn't hesitate to guide them or... more>> help them even going to danger to save people. I like that about MC. I actually enjoyed how the author gave more details of the world so it feels somewhat fresh even with typical time travel trope. Also MC and ML have a good relationship but I did find the build up a bit lacking as it's mostly through past memories. ML though is a good foil for MC.

Overall though it's a good read

3.7/5 for me <<less

Honestly, I do not get why this has a low rating. This book is a masterpiece. While I read her part, I'm always curious about what the other party is thinking. You could imagine that both of these characters has a serious expression on there faces and the conversation is usually dry. It's the internal mologue gets me giggling. The story is well thought out and the internal monologue really conveyed the feelings of the story. In reality, the struggle is always internal which is shown pretty well here, I do not think both of these characters will be able to fall completely in love without resolving the internal struggles. They are wounded souls that need time and healing.

Amazing translation and a must read.

If you want to find a TRUE green flag guy, I suggest the protagonist. He is so upright and lovable it's unbearable. His kind of delulu but aren't we all. This man is the definition of devoted love, he is so in tune with his emotions that you would rub your eyes asking if it is real.

The female lead is also smart, knows what she wants and will not let anyone get in her way. Admittedly she is OP but hey, if you've gone through what she has gone through wouldn't you be OP too? The novel presents a limitation on her OPness, which is the current condition of her body. Which is logical and good.
She truly wish for people's happiness at the risk of her own.

What I like the about the story is that the characters are not unnecessarily complex. Love story is pretty straight forward but man the butterflies in my stomach reading the journey unfathomable.

Spoiler

I felt that Yurien love for Echi started due to guilt because he blamed himself for the ruined Roaz Family. But because Yurien loves swords more than anything else he eventually fell in love with Echi's prowess at it more than anything else. I think the story sufficiently pointed out that it was not her face but her sword which they fell in love with.

The story follows our FL, Echinacea, and ML, Yurien. And it's a relatively complicated, yet new, plot. Basically, our FL is someone with a hidden talent for swordsmanship and mana, but given she's a lady, she's never noticed. UNTIL, she's forced to take hold of a giosa*, which in this situation is a specific one which leads its handlers to bloodthirsty madness. Usually it would tire her out, and shed die since she can't handle the mana and bloodlust from the sword, however she's as mentioned, an extreme talent. She... more>> holds out and grows stronger with the sword, having to watch herself be commanded by bloodlust. She meets ML, who can see that she's actually struggling and he decides to believe in her, hoping she can take control. Which she fails in, causing another massacre and meeting him again shortly after, where she kills him. Now, in this life she soon gains consciousness and resolves herself to fix everything, she turns back time after becoming OP, and proceeds to change the future, not knowing that ML also remembers the past. But, surprisingly, he doesn't hate her, instead he loves her. She continues to face shenanigans to change the future, and eventually communication happens!

Anyways, my opinion on this is that it's a story I love. The ML is absolutely suited to my taste, and the FL pines for him almost as much as he does for her. It's sad we don't get to see her display her own affection as much, but I don't mind it. Now the obvious, both ML and FL are OP, and are designed to be direct counterparts to weigh each other out. However it wasn't done too perfectly, since the story focused more on 'glazing' the FL than displaying the fact that both of them are equals. I don't hate it but I don't love it, since close to the entirety of the end is spent praising FL and constantly mentioning that she's stronger than ML, and I honestly would've preferred for them to be clearly equal. It tickles me better, and fits both of their ideals (FL wanted to rely on ML, and ML wanted to be able to protect FL more, despite her being stronger). It's a recurring theme which threw me off, especially when ML became one of my favourites for his appearance and character. I get that he doesn't really mind truly, but I also feel bothered by the fact that she isn't able to rely on him as much, especially since she's on a whole 'nother level and can just rely on herself. But otherwise I love them, they communicate, the ML is so vulnerable with her in such a cute way and she always tries to reciprocate that affection. Full spoilers below.

Spoiler

Now, continuing on with the theme that she's stronger cause feminism. The only time she's wished for his help was when she was pregnant, obviously, and even then he was practically weaker than her. In the scene the pregnancy happened and was announced and such, I actually found it quite nice. He was obviously experiencing the morning sickness himself, but it was in such a way I thought he'd be the one bearing children. But then more drama happened and she rushed into a battle because obviously she's OP, and he also went to fight. Only problem is she needs to care for a baby as well so she can't go all out. I don't know why it was necessary to add in that scene but I didn't bother myself with it.

Anyways, main plot. Things happen, ML reveals his feelings but FL doesn't accept them because she feels guilty for the past. Roundabout things happen, ML has an engagement partner he didn't know of and FL finds out and sulks. He gifts her a sword which she absolutely treasures, and they both try to deal with their feelings. They grow closer on a secret mission together, where they save a giosa user, who was a healer. They go into a node things like that and escape. After that, more things ensue and eventually she decides to accept his feelings, but doesn't date him. He manages to change the engagement into a fake one and things like that, he tells FL, and they also soon start dating after they establish that they don't blame each other for anything. It's secret, and most people just assume it's a one-sided crush. Actual drama happens, we find out ML's older brother is crazy and tries to frame ML as the demon user of the cursed giosa (FL's sword) since the sword disappeared completely. To explain, the 2nd Prince and Emperor planted the sword at FL's house for the scheme and planned to take knights and eliminate the house to increase their status. It failed both times due to her talent and also to her becoming the master of the sword. Prince tried to frame FL but failed unexpectedly and turned his frustration to ML. ML gets cursed and FL fights him, but nerfs herself and almost loses because she doesn't want to hurt him. Eventually succeeds but there's a 2 chapter amnesia arc since he'd earlier given up his sword*2 to make it easier to take him down. This scene showcases her love a lot, but it also doesn't forget to show how he loves her so much it even leaks into amnesia. Despite being briefly cursed, he can still use his own giosa, Rangiosa. Which if not mentioned was surprising because there's a condition to never commit evil to use Rangiosa. Gains back his memories, feels terrible as FL had exposed herself to protect him. She goes under the radar whilst he works to get her acknowledged as a giosa owner and not a demon. In short she helps in a civil war and gets the crown prince to the throne but also kills the former emperor after finding out how little he cared for ML, i.e. His own son. She loses herself to bloodlust and almost kills ML, but stops herself and manages to change her own giosa so it isn't as bloodthirsty or something. She becomes an actual admired knight and her relationship goes public and they're both really admired, FL especially. She spars with ML and wins, they get married and so on.

Now writing this I wondered why was FL always on a pedestal compared to ML, who always helped her onto this pedestal and I realised it's just the format of these stories. A format I dislike but don't hate, and I don't usually enjoy them because in some cases, the ML being put down are exceptional, amazing. Especially this one. I saw that the trope were equals who weigh each other out but the scales seem unfair. If it wasn't for the plot, the story would've just been an essay praising FL for her strength and it overshadows the ML, who's extremely strong himself yet constantly was outshined by the talented FL. It's my single complaint. Don't write a pairing meant to be equals if you can't actually do it. Other than that, I love them. One of my favourite stories.

[collapse]

*May not be the write spelling, but essentially special or magical swords with consciousness. There's a few of them, and they all selectively pick their owners. The only one which doesn't follow procedure is the FL's giosa, Valdergiosa (?).

*2 When you become the owner of a giosa, it allows you to retain memories, usually. So that was how ML had remembered the past and also everything else. When he gave up the sword, he forgot it all, especially FL. <<less

I wanted to love this. In fact, there is a lot to like about this series. The setting may not stray too far from the OI formula of vaguely European aristocratic fantasy, but the author goes the extra mile of building in details to make the world feel somewhat fresh. The concept is an OI banger: regression, romance, angst, action, political machinations. The characters are all well defined (including side characters!) without falling into well-worn tropes. The author does a good job of expressing feelings and writing dialogue between FL... more>> and ML that is filled with tension and unspoken yearning. It's also nice to get a good amount of the ML's POV.

The bad: a lot of the development of the relationship between the FL and ML plays out as internal monologues and flashbacks so the basis for their relationship feels underbaked compared to how much they actually interact. They are almost instantly smitten once they meet and there's a lot of wheel spinning with the FL's internal thoughts. The pacing gets bogged down by this as well: there's a mystery/politicking sub-plot but it's almost an afterthought. We the reader spend a lot of time in the ML's POV and I'm not sure the payoff will be all there when you consider that the FL and ML have basically reached the same conclusion with a certain mystery.

That being said, the writing has an addictive quality and I look forward to reading the rest. <<less

This is one of my favorites! The plot is original and interesting, there’s no unnecessary drama, the conflict feels important and organic, and the main couple are perfect for each other while at the same time unique! Nothing is too drawn out, the miscommunication (which I usually hate) feels realistic, and the female lead Echinacea is super bad**s and OP but not annoyingly so since she earned her skills and is not invincible. Also ... more>>
Spoiler

she’s actually the strongest, not like in other novels where the FL is supposed to be so strong but somehow the ML is always stronger so that she can still be cute and protected by him. Echinacea is actually the strongest which is super satisfying but the main couple still protect and support each other. It’s really sweet!!

I hiiighly recommend reading this, especially since it isn’t that long. I’ll be keeping an eye out for anything else this author writes. Plus the translator worked really hard to get all the chapters out at an amazingly fast pace! Thank you translator!! <<less

I surprise to find so many 1 star rating here. Do these people even read the story enough to judge?

The entire plot is beautifully written. This is not a story about revenge, but a story of growth and a journey to claim the lost happiness. It's much deeper than just turning back in time and have an happing ending. MC really work hard to earn that happy ending, literally sweating tears and blood.
Spoiler

She and all other victims were merely sacrificial lambs in a grand power scheme. Someone deliberately send a demon sword to create havoc. Her family was targeted because they were a well-off noble family without strong backup.

The strong malice in the sword took control of MC's body and used her body to start a killing spree, but her soul resisted. After struggling for 6 years, watching people being killed by her own hands, MC finally able to suppress the malice and regained control of her body, but damage has been done. So she spent another 9 years, risking her life, gathering the other swords to turn back time.

[collapse]

The built up is a bit slow, but it's happening at steady pace. Not all details are presented at the beginning, but later through flashbacks and reminiscences. Yes I admit that I also struggled a little bit in the beginning. Even I found it ridiculous to believe that someone can wield sword easily while wearing dress, but just bear with it. A little bit of plot armor is acceptable, after all this is a rofan.

We will have better understanding about the whole story once ML's POV came out, around chapter 64. It explains why ML also remembered the erased past, his seemingly unfounded attraction to MC and why he felt guilty for her misfortune. The dots start to connect. The misunderstanding was resolved at chapter 135.

One thing that I find pretty unique is the characterization of ML It's very rare to find ML who is strong physically, good in strategy, and adept in political maneuver, yet very honest about his emotion. He cried more than MC, yet he was not weak either, and I find this refreshing. There's also funny banter between the sword and its master which is quite entertaining and lighten the story.

This is a good story imo, characters are quite fleshed out with the characters feeling quite human. Hiding major secrets because yes, when guilt and trauma clouds your judgement, it's hard to think straight to capture hints/clues from one another. There is a bit of misunderstanding plot but I feel it doesn't drag too far out unrealisitically whilst having relationship progressions move at a steady pace.

Character both feel like they can stand on their own but also realise they are wounded and can rely on each other and become better... more>> people when they come to it, if you want to read a romance story with a side of action I can highly recommend this! <<less

This is my first time posting a review online, but I couldn't hold back, because how beautiful a story can be. Few may find it repetitive but this was a perfect plot for me. I loved both the FL and ml. FL is overpowered but rightfully so. 10/10 novel. I want to read novels like these, if anyone have recommendations please mention the names.

Those reading my comment, I wish you all the best for the emotional rollercoaster you will go through while reading the novel. But trust me it will... more>> be worth it.

Enjoy reading! 🥰 <<less
