Shi Yue returns to his grandfather’s old house in the countryside, feeling like a lost cause. His neighbor is a tall, rugged, and handsome man named Mu Ye. At first, Shi Yue thinks Mu Ye is unapproachable and is a bit intimidated by him. However, Mu Ye constantly brings him food and takes care of every little thing for him.

Shi Yue marvels at how such a kind person could exist, yet he can’t help but notice that Mu Ye’s gaze seems to grow more intense whenever he looks at him, almost as if he wants to swallow him whole.

One day, the old, termite-ridden door of Shi Yue’s house crashes to the ground. Terrified, Shi Yue turns pale, but Mu Ye rushes over, gently strokes his cheek to say, “Don’t be afraid,” and brings him back to his own home. Shi Yue is deeply grateful and even more thankful when Mu Ye offers to fix his door—though, strangely, the door never seems to get fixed, even after months have passed.
