After being conscripted into the 81st Monster Subjugation War and worn to the bone, the magic swordsman Yurian is swept away by a gate wave—

and finds himself transported, alongside the monsters, into another dimension.

A dimension of all things—modern civilization, sleek technology, and an unnervingly comfortable world known as the Hunter World.

“…What is this place? Why is it so… cozy?”

After experiencing the dazzling conveniences of modern life, Yurian makes a firm resolution:

“Make me… an honorary modern citizen.”

And thus, he decides to latch onto the S-rank hunter Gong Siyoung, the man who discovered him inside a dungeon.

“I’m curious about something. Do you, by any chance, have a lover? You just look like the type who would.”

“Wh—why… why would you ask something like that? Why would that even matter?”

Thus begins the slightly chaotic cohabitation between a bristly, catlike Siyoung and the carefree Yurian.

But one day, an unprecedented anomaly occurs—

a Gate within a Gate, a nested dungeon appears.

And suddenly, the hunters find themselves in desperate need of the walking monster encyclopedia that is Yurian.

“My job is literally to slay monsters. Shouldn’t I at least know a thing or two about them?”

And so begins Yurian’s grand mission—

to restore discipline to the Hunter World.

Can he unravel the mysteries of the Gate

and save these fragile modern humans from peril?

Effing hell, this does not deserve all the one stars.

I almost skipped over this as it had few translated chapters and was rated poor, but since Korean BL seem to be rated on the lower side as a rule, I gave it a look anyway.

Well worth it. I was genuinly sad by how quickly I had caught up.

Both the MC and ML feel atypical to me considering the subgenre. The ML in particular is a funny guy. Very tsundere- even said the iconic line: "I wasn't doing this for you.... more>> Don't misunderstand." He also has a tendency to let his thoughts go astray. By the time the MC finally comes around and acknowledges that he likes the ML, I'm sure the ML will have already concocted a whole five-year fantasy about their dating, marriage, and early deaths.

The MC doesn't feel fully realized yet, but I definitely like what I have read thus far. Whereas with the ML who you can probably guess his whole life and every trauma and nail it in one, the MC is a bit more mysterious. The casual drops of lore in his POV point to an interestingly led life, and each detail leaves me wanting to learn more about him.

Anyway, the translation is good. The characters are appealing, and the reading itself so far has been quite fun.

I look forward to future chapters. <<less

I don't know why the rating is so low when only 28 chs have been translated so far but as someone who has tried to read almost all hunter-verse BL novels, this is pretty good so far. I'm giving it 4 stars because we're still in the beginning and who knows if the rest of the novel is as good. This isn't the typical weak bottom and strong, nonchalant S rank top. The top, Siyoung is actually more of a tsundere character which is refreshing, considering how many nonchalant and... more>> arrogant tops we usually get in these hunter novels. I'm really liking our MC too, his personality is a breath of fresh air, a carefree and strong other-worlder who somehow ended up in the modern world. There is much to find out regarding the world and the mystery of the dungeons and other dimensions, so I'm really looking forward to the rest of the story. Especially loving the dynamic between our MC and ml. <<less
