Zombies rampage across the campus, biting and chasing people. In her panic and helplessness, a strange woman suddenly grabs her and pulls her into a storage room.
The door locks. Outside, zombies slam against it. Inside, there’s a beautiful woman—cheeks flushed, leaning against the wall, breathing unevenly.
She lifts her wet eyes, stares at Xie Li, and says hoarsely: “Come here. Mark me.”
Xie Li presses her back against the door, throat tight, trying to keep her distance.
The woman pants, her gaze sharp: “If you don’t want to die, give me a temporary mark.”
With death hanging by a thread, Xie Li closes her eyes and leans in, biting the woman’s flushed gland.
After escaping the chaos, the woman pushes her away, lowers her head to smooth out her wrinkled shirt, her expression already calm again, “It was an emergency. Don’t take it to heart.”
Later, Xie Li learns that she has transmigrated into a harem novel.
The woman she temporarily marked is the female Omega lead, Jin Zhaoye. Jin Zhaoye already has her destined partner—Xie Li is just a minor cannon fodder character who doesn’t survive past a few chapters, existing only to hand over a golden-finger spatial ability to the protagonist.
One day, after witnessing Jin Zhaoye being abandoned by her fiancée and falling into silent sorrow, Xie Li quietly approaches and whispers in her ear, “I’m not worse than her. Want to try liking someone else?”
Jin Zhaoye stares at her for a few seconds, then curls her lips into a faint smile, wraps an arm around Xie Li’s neck, and kisses her.
They kiss in deserted corners, interlace fingers while keeping watch at night, and stand in front of danger to shield each other.
Xie Li never asks what she means to Jin Zhaoye.
And Jin Zhaoye never says.
On the day a tide of zombies crashes through the base gates, Jin Zhaoye rushes without hesitation toward her fiancée.
Watching her figure grow more distant, Xie Li lets out a self-mocking smile.
Cannon fodder really doesn’t live long. Forget it—no more competing. She can’t win anyway.
She closes her eyes and lets the zombie tide swallow her.
When they meet again, Xie Li pins Jin Zhaoye against a door and whispers in her ear, “Your fiancée is calling for you outside. Aren’t you going to answer?”
Jin Zhaoye’s eyes are filled with the relief of regaining what was lost. She asks hoarsely, “Do you want her to hear the sounds I’m making right now?”
