“It used to be soft and squishy, which was nice…”

“……”

“Why did you lose so much weight? Hyung is disappointed.”

His drowsy, languid voice tickled the nape of my neck. Along with that, the warmth of his body against my back made my heart flutter. His words, spoken so tenderly, stirred something inside me while simultaneously sending a chill through my solar plexus. There’s no way it could be good. Something like a wobbling mass of flesh, a sight so repulsive just to look at, couldn’t possibly be good.

Ha-min’s face noticeably fell at the playful, yet excessive comment. His slight, nervous movements came to a stop, as if he didn’t know what to do.

“……”

Sensing this, Tae-rim slowly opened his eyes. Beyond his previously closed vision, he could see Ha-min’s profile, quietly staring into space. It was a rare expression for Ha-min. Deeply sunken. Tae-rim, feeling something was off, furrowed his brow and once again tightly hugged Ha-min’s waist.

Soon after, Ha-min’s tightly closed lips parted. His voice was quiet, almost crawling.

“Because it doesn’t look good…”

“…?”

“When you’re fat, you smell… it’s dirty, so…”

The last syllable trembled slightly. His voice, muttering as if self-harming, and his bitter tone were unnaturally dark.

Clearly sensing something was wrong, Tae-rim tickled the back of Ha-min’s neck with the tip of his nose, like a puppy. With a rustle, Ha-min’s hair touched Tae-rim’s nose bridge, and he could feel Tae-rim’s skin nuzzling against him.

“Don’t say such foolish things…”

He whispered in Ha-min’s ear, comforting him.

“Hyung likes everything about you.”

Affectionately.

“Even the smell of grass and milk that comes from you.”

Sweetly.

“…Ever since we were young.”

With such unfair words.

A typical story about childhood friends where MC has an unrequited love to ML, however, funny thing is, MC fell first but ML fell harderrrr, way too deep that he just loves the MC soo much, to the point of being overly obsessive and possessive. I'm sucker for this type of stories where ML dotes to MC. Well, MC is a cinnamon roll that you really want to protect. He also had a lot of scars from the past which was really sadd. Although the misunderstandings really go circle and... more>> circle althrough out the story, I like how they manage to talk about it at the end. I actually enjoyed reading it. Five stars 💜 <<less

I have a love-hate relationship with books like this, and yet, I keep reading them. I just can't help but be suckered into stories with MLs who fall deep and hard for MCs who fall first.

On one hand, I hate how pathetically in love the MC is and how he is willing to accept the bare minimum from the ML. I hate how submissive and naive he is, and how he cares too much about what other people think, and how he doesn't ever really put himself first. In other... more>> words, the MC is the type to get punched in the face and be concerned about the other person's fist, rather than his own face. Don't get me wrong, I knew from the tag that the MC was weak, but it still made me disappointed in him. However, despite being cowardly, the MC, Ha-min, somehow had a moment of bravery, and initiated an unorthodox relationship with the ML, Tae-rim, who he had loved for over 5 years.

Spoiler

Ha-Rim offered to "help" Tae-rim, with his morning wood, claiming that he had learned how to service others from a friend. This was the start of their FWB relationship.

[collapse]

Tae-rim had always been fond of Ha-min because to him, Ha-min was his little brother's cute friend, who used to follow him around. He never expected their relationship to evolve the way it did, because he had only dated women, and Ha-min was supposed to be his donsaeng. But once the lines became blurred, he couldn't get enough of Ha-min. That's where we reach the other part, of my love-hate for these books. Though I wasn't a fan of their initial ambiguous relationship, I loved how Tae-rim fell head over heels for Ha-min. After the bullying Ha-min suffered in high school, he deserved all the love in the world.

Considering the Ha-Rim's trauma and Tae-rim's ex-playboy status, it's no surprise that they had a rocky relationship with lots of misunderstandings, insecurities, and hurt feelings. In spite of all this angst though, the reason I keep coming back to books like this is because when the ML or more specifically Tae-rim, falls, he falls HARD. Also, I loved that despite Ha-rim being in love, he didn't make it easy for Tae-rim. I don't know why but I like watching MLs chase after MCs and them suffering because the MCs will offer up their bodies, but they won't be open about their feelings. I feel like their emotional struggle makes them appreciate it more when the MC is finally honest. For example, Tae-rim went from being a selfish, sometimes indifferent lover, to becoming obsessed with Ha-rim and telling Ha-rim he'll treat him better and ACTUALLY trying to do better. It kind of made up for all the pain Ha-rim suffered while loving him one-sidedly. I love MLs who make it their mission to show their lovers the same or more love than they were shown, instead of them just passively accepting their lover's affection. Though, maybe Tae-rim loved Ha-rim a bit too much, because he was very possessive. Still, I even liked how they tackled this issue, because their confrontation showed how much each of them had grown. Overall, it was a good read.

Spoiler

Minor complaint: It hurts my soul when I read MxM and there's no lube. The lack of research, lube, cond*ms, and aftercare after Ha-rim's first time was beyond aggravating, because the pain he suffered could've been avoided. Tae-rim's neglect was disappointing. Thankfully, their intimacy became more natural or smoother later on, but the use of saliva instead of lube every time they got down and dirty was soul crushing. And I know lube exists in this book universe because it was mentioned in passing but never used.

Wow, well I dont even know what to say ive just finished this novel and im pretty suprised at how it was. Ive read hundreds of danmei and this one still sticks out to me. Sometimes when you fnish a novel youll think, 'well that was a waste of time' because besides from some enjoyable moments it lacked substance but this one despte not being incredbly deep made my heart pound hehe...

I like how a netizen descrbes MC that he reminds them of the nice innocent pretty boy from her... more>> highschool days, hes extremely kind hearted despite sufferng from terrible bullyng duriing his HS years leading him to try to take his life by cuttng his wrists which is a later plot point. He was also fat when he was young and his first love was his hyung ML who is wwoooo I love this man to death. Like beautiful top whos ver very gentle an affectionate infont of MC for most part but is actually a very crude deliquent psychoish type, I mean he lterally shot a guy in the past (he also wnated to shoot MCs bulles but ddnt because he knew MC wpuld worry] actually ML in the begining and later r kinda different he was always dottin too MC but he becomes much more later.

Their relationship starts with MC han min sayin he can help his hyung with his... ehem. MC has loved ML for 10 years even when he left to go to america so he lies that its normal to do stuff like that w other guys and hes also done it. ML who imo was already into MC but was a straight guy since altho he was promiscious and slept around it was only w women he even had a gf when he let MC do this so.... Anyway he gets jealous and possesive thinkin his innocent little ;btother; would do that to another man and well they evolve from there. I mean btw MC does after that learnin ML has a gf says he wont do it again so that mls gf wont misunderstand, so ML breaks up with her and they continue yada yada ML kinda treats MC like a FWB and says he doesnt care if MC gets w others as long as its not whne hes w him then goes crazy over a jouniro liking MC..... but when ur readin ML is to charsmitic even tho I knew he was really bein a sumbag I couldnt help but like him lol also this novel in general is interestin cause its different from the norm.

Side note I love that theres actual arguments een after they start dating like even thoo ML is very very doting to MC he does the typical yandere stuff like placin trackers not allowing him to stay overnigh w friends or go on trips or let him get close to others includin his brother Tae in who is MCs best friend since childhood an is the reason MC n ML met oo tae in is straifht btw so dont worry no lovee triangles. But I like that they show how MC and ML can sometimes say hurtful words more so MC when their angry, pretty realistic an juciy. If ur tired of generic af danmei this one is smthing <<less

I felt soooo many emotions reading this novel. It was really cute and sweet at the start, then you learn more about Ha-min's traumatic back story and it kinda breaks your heart cuz he's this sweet little marshmallow character you want to protect at all costs. Then when he and his hyung take their relationship to the next level - ngl I had to put the book down for a few hours cuz Tae-rim's whole attitude towards it, coupled with Ha-min's desperation just gave me the ick. I decided to... more>> power through and continue with the novel but man I was honestly so frustrated with them both. Ultimately I'm really glad I didn't abandon the novel, once Tae-rim learns the truth about Ha- min's past, and finally realizes his feelings towards Ha-min, he eventually redeems himself and his love is so crazy intense. His character shows a lot of growth over the course of the novel. His feelings of guilt and remorse are evidence of that and he goes through a pretty complicated emotional redemption arc, but MAN it felt like it took forever to get there. I do think that while I was impatiently waiting for him to change, the novel was pretty realistic in depicting the long, bumpy process someone goes through to change a deeply ingrained behavior. He does also grow into an extremely obsessive and possessive lover, going to some extreme ends to protect his sweet as all heck b**boobear Ha-min.

I don't know if I could say that Ha-min's growth is quite as drastic, but it was incredibly satisfying to see him grow emotionally, build confidence and value himself. Overall, I did really enjoy this novel despite the emotional roller-coaster ride it put me on. <<less
