Shen Tang decided to completely cut ties with Jiang Chengyu. She packed up all her belongings from his villa and took them with her.

Jiang Chengyu: “What’s this act about now?”

Shen Tang blew out the smoke from between his fingers. The smoke drifted in the air as she smiled lightly. “It’s not an act. I just want to end our boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.”

Jiang Chengyu looked at her. “Then what kind of relationship do you want?”

While touching up her makeup in the mirror, Shen Tang replied, “A legal marriage. If one day you come begging me to marry you, I might consider it.”

Jiang Chengyu suddenly laughed. Beg her to marry him? Quite the attitude. He didn’t believe in marriage—he would never marry anyone.

________________________________________

When her friends heard Shen Tang had broken things off with Jiang Chengyu, they felt sorry for her. “It’s so hard to even know someone from Jiang Chengyu’s circle. And he treated you so well—how could you bear to let that go?”

Shen Tang didn’t respond. Precisely because it was so hard—like a mirage—she knew he would never give her marriage. So when she realized she had fallen for him and was sinking deeper, why tie herself up in a cocoon?

________________________________________

A year after their breakup, on her birthday, Shen Tang got a call from Jiang Chengyu.

Ever adaptable, Jiang Chengyu said, “Tangtang, marry me.”

Shen Tang replied, “Sure. Hold on. A lot of people are chasing after me these days. Let me check what number you are.” She deliberately paused for a few seconds. “Mr. Jiang, you’re number 250. Remember your number—I’ll notify you when it’s your turn.”

PS: A bold, realistic, self-loving and dazzling female lead × the second young master of the Jiang family who dotes on her deeply but refuses to get married.

I might not necessarily love every aspect of this novel, but I can only say one thing: the author reminds me of the strong story telling of Danielle Steele. The author doesn't write about perfect characters, she writes about the opposite: flawed and borderline toxic characters who fought their damnedest to achieve what they wanted in life. So, my rating is:

Story telling and technicality: 5/5

The story itself (subjective) : 3 to 3.5/5

Side note: I very much prefer the ML on this novel than the pos of an ML on Love... more>> You, which is another novel from this author. The ML on Love You makes my blood boil - with hatred.

Highly recommend.

PS. Kudos to the translator. Thank you very much for translating this. <<less

Rating: 4 stars (accidentally clicked 3)

I enjoyed this story overall but found the transition from the entertainment world to the business world super random. The FL starts out as a lesser known actress but eventually retires from the big screen to become a boss herself. Both her and the ML have to deal with a bunch of business related stuff for their respective companies (we're talking M&A, repaying loan payments, shutting off other companies' financing, etc. So pretty in depth stuff), so the tone of the story shifted quite... more>> a bit. I personally found the second half less interesting.

Romance was cute overall, but the author doesn't really explain why the ML's mentality towards marriage changed. The whole reason they broke up was because she wanted to get married and he doesn't, but not long after the breakup, he comes chasing after her and promises to try changing his mind about marriage. What changed for him? It's not clear. <<less

Absolutely loved the story. The FL is an arrogant character with a deeply hurtful childhood but it onlyadds to her charm. She gave up on those who hurt her and embraced the ML with a hope of a home, which after many twists became a reality.

I was hoping for her Comeback to acting but it didn't materialize.

Cute fabulous story but too long! Plus this universe is made up of business tycoons and the likes so whenever the author starts focusing on business talk and back stabbings and M&As am just like let's not get distracted now focus on the romance please 😆

I also wish Tang Tang had forgiven her parents and all those who wronged her. Carrying all that hatred and bitterness couldn't have been easy on her!

Update: 27/5/2026

Am reading Love You where the main character is TT's best friend and it's been so long since... more>> reading any of the other novels in this universe but reading my comment helped me remember TT's story. I remember reading she only had her grandpa but it didnt click... oh no grandpa 😭😭😭.

But I think I've figured out this writer's storytelling-they like breakups then the ML chases the woman for 90% of the story, always a HE though so no complaints. Not even halfway through, that novel is looongggg and the guy's still chasing hasnt caught the girl yet 🤣😅😂

Ah! Another thing, how come in every story the ML is the richest and best businessman etc but they are all from the same universe?!! 😅 It's like our parents telling us they were always top of the class in their days... so who exactly was #2?! 😂😂🤣 <<less

Was a nice and fun read. Both FL and ML were well characterised. I love their relationship, even through the separation, there was no negativity or misunderstanding, just a clear difference in opinion or position on marriage.

Shen Tang's background and storyline is so well-done. Sometimes, what counts as creative in stories is what would make a character believable but still effectively lovable. But here, the creativity lies in using the fact that Shen Tang is loved by everyone, almost unbelievably so, but after the fact. How did these people come to love her, how did they love her, how it affected her, and what she pursued. In the story, it was emphasized even, that she was not lovable at all or endearing in her actions. So... more>> yes, Shen Tang is a Mary Sue, but a very interesting one because she isn't at all but only in the initial association.

Men's attraction to her throughout the story was written to effect where the reader would not be able to know more about it. Because Shen Tang had no use to think of it. She understood, but she's inconvenienced, but she respected, and she went on about her true goals.

Her parent
Spoiler

's love to her was just plain disgusting and revolting. Abandonment AND sabotage is crazyyy. Doing it even more in the of love—their love for their own families—even more disgustingg. The resentment and grief in this is top-tier delicious.

Shen Tang and Jiang Chengyu's dynamics as a couple were also very well-written. I loved that they were an established couple already when introduced.

Everything else was written less of, not minded anymore, including Jiang Chengyu's aversion to marriage which was a big conflict but was not explained of extensively—which should be understandable because sometimes it is just what it is—but it is strange. <<less

this is too goood, I really like the flow and the complexity of the characters and their relationship with the people around them. The introduction doesn't show the depth of the story, you might think its some typical no-brainer story, but when you start reading you get immerse in it and enjoy the interactions. Not all villains remains as villains which I really like,
