On the day of his spiritual root test, he was found to possess a fifth-grade root. In this lifetime, it would be nearly impossible to break through the Mid Qi Refining stage.

The immortal sects refused to accept him. The path to eternal life seemed forever closed.

Coincidentally, the Demonic Sect was collecting s*aves from across the lands, those with poor aptitude, branding them as “Spirit s*aves”. They used a forbidden cultivation art that burned lifespan as fuel, raising numerous batches of expendable materials. These s*aves would sacrifice their own cultivation to produce spiritual sand, a resource consumed by the Demonic Sect.

Wang Yu, captured from Stone Lake City, was taken to the demonic lands. As a spirit s*ave, he entered the demonic path. Fortunately, he possessed the mysterious [Idle Slot] , which could solve many of his problems!

Not a bad novel for this niche. I'd even say it was pretty entertaining in the first 200 ish hundred chapters.

In the later chapters, the author adds a ton of exposition, as well as non important sections of other character's POVs. This can lead to your reading 50 chapters in a row and feeling that barely anything happened.

This is honestly a very good one. It feels fresh while still having a familiar charm. The main character is well written; he makes a major mistake early on but learns from it and grows stronger. The side characters also stay relevant instead of appearing for a single chapter and vanishing, with their own plots and relationships that tie back into the story.

The world-building is excellent. Locations mentioned early on reappear later, becoming the stage for conflicts, schemes, and battles involving cultivators from low to high levels. The setting has... more>> its own history as well, which is revealed gradually as the story progresses.

The translation quality is also high, which was honestly one of the main reasons for picking this up. Overall, this is absolutely worth a try. <<less
