I am quite perplexed how underrated this novel is. I think one of the reasons is because of the title. But anw, this novel flow is as the summerize part. The shou is a vicious water serpent who is fighting alone in the wilderness and becomes stronger over time while the ML is the only remaining dragon from his golden clan (there are other dragons)

There are times when I feel frustrated with the shou with how stubborn he is, but if you think logically, u will understand. Up... more>> until chapter 64, but we don't know much about the shou himself. Although they did mention it but it is not a lot of info. All I know is he was born alone to fight to survive in that vicious world and then become the top. If you are born to survive that way, I can see how he turned out. But overtimes u can see he has changed due to the ML not much but not as vicious.

I would say it is a solid 4-star novel without any complex plot. If you have time, please give this one a chance.

Normally I don't like stories where one of the pair lost their memory but this pair is adorable. MC was seriously injured and paralyzed after fighting with ML. ML was also seriously injured but being a dragon, he can heal faster. MC had no choice but to trick ML into believing they were blood brothers and that ML was a sea serpent who managed to turn into a dragon thank to MC's sacrifice. So ML took care of MC and took him to look for things that could help MC... more>> recover his lost cultivation. A few times ML caught MC red-handed trying to eat him but ML misunderstood and thought MC was trying to kiss him and that they were lovers but due to his amnesia, MC did not tell him. Later MC stopped trying to eat ML because he witnessed how OP ML was and knew he wouldn't stand a chance against ML.

Then ML was in heat and he forced himself on MC. After that, ML regained his memories but did not tell MC. ML felt bad about forcing himself on MC and decided to help MC heal even though at this point MC just wanted to leave and didn't want to have anything to do with ML anymore. Anyway, ML chased MC, they fought some villains together, met the family of sorts (other dragons and MC's demon subordinates) and finally got together. They're one of my favourite pairs. MC is such a tsundere and ML is such a sweetheart.

In the end, MC does turn into a black dragon and through some medicine gifted by an elder dragon, MC and ML had a few black and gold dragon eggs.

I enjoyed this novel, but it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea! The shou is the type of character that would be the final villain boss in a novel. He’s inherently greedy, calculating, and distrustful of others. Even by c45, he's still scheming and trying to take advantage of the gong, who genuinely cares for him. This personality makes it difficult from the reader’s perspective to root for him, which is what makes the shou/gong pairing interesting.

I think their dynamic is written in a very realistic way. Gong is the... more>> heaven’s favored and a proud, noble dragon revered by many. Shou has lived in solitude for tens and thousands of years, with his life goal being cultivating into a dragon. He's endured countless hardships and setbacks, and a moment of weakness would have led to his demise. It wouldn't be easy for him to warm up to someone just because they treated him kindly. There are glimpses of him softening throughout the novel, but he's a tsundemon though and through haha :)

Now that the novel has been fully translated, I thought that I should write a review. I like this novel because it has an unconventional wrtiting style from what I'm used to, I found that it sometimes says a lot without writing much about an event. Additionally, I like reading about an MC that is literally evil, and a ML that has to cut through it.

Most characters are demons with extended life spans, and are able to take on human forms. However, they don't have the same sensibilities humans do,... more>> and long stretches of time occur frequently in the novel. MC is a sea serpent with the one track goal of becoming a dragon by any means necessary, they're also somewhat a tsundere. ML is the last golden dragon who's meant to be someone that is incredibly strong and virtous, but gets amnesia and is tricked into thinking they're Mc's sibling.

The amnesia doesn't last for too long, and it's funny that MC caused his own love story by attempting to eat ML because ML confused it for kisses.

If you want to try this novel, there are certain things you should expect. This story is primarily about the MC letting go of his evil ways and learning to tolerate/love Ml, albeit really slowly. It takes ML forever to get MC to stop eating other demons, but everytime we see MC change for the better, it's rewarding and shocking. ML also changes, for the better and worse, because MC causes ML to be more perceptive and ML learns how to be deceptive. There isn't ever any force that is truly putting them in danger, so don't expect something like that. Side note, reading about how Mc's evil deeds tend to backfire on him is really entertaining.

Additionally, expect Non-consent because ML r*pes MC, for the weight and respect such a topic requires, it just kinda gets glazed over by the setting. MC only gets angry because, as an infamous great demon, he feels that he was embarrassed by Ml. MC doesn't suffer any trauma or is particularly bothered that it occurred. If you can stomach that it happens and it's not taken very seriously, then you should read this.

I'm pretty sure that the story even attempts to justify it, but it's never directly stated. There's a force in the setting called the Heavenly Dao, it explicitily is meant to balance things out through your karma. Therefore, by Mc's own evil actions, it can be stated that he brought it upon himself because Ml's heat is only ever stated to happen once and it caused MC to be r*ped

I loved this novel so much, it's an enemies-to-lovers of an unconventional pairing.

MC is a vicious demon who is obsessed with cultivation and wants to be a dragon, ML is the last golden dragon of his clan so he is favoured by everyone; and they encounter each other thanks to the appearance of a fish, a female demon fish.

It always cracks me up whenever MC mentions the fish and the fact that ML saved her hehe.

Seriously, people are sleeping on this webnovel. It has got a great storyline and characters. It is well translated and short too... like it's literally perfect. It has been a really long time since I have completed a webnovel in one go. It's that good. And it has been completely translated. The uke is villainous but slowly changes for himself for the golden dragon. The character growth is natural. The couple's dynamics feels very sweet and natural too, like not abrupt. The golden dragon melts the hard hearted sea serpent... more>> with his love. The story revolves around the their relationship, the action in the novel all revolves to strengthen their relationship. Honestly a well structured, light hearted, sweet novel. Needs more recognition 💖 <<less

I stumbled into this story, and surely found a gem! 💎

Summary: Highly recommended!

Characters: 9.8/10, There was no idiotic/flimsy characters. Everyone, even the main villain, was fleshed-out. Well, except the villain girl, all characters are solid. The side characters are especially funny (even the extra demon 1 and 2 in their lair is funny HAHA)

Plot: 9.5/10. I love how the MC was treated in their world (well, he is not some white lotus misunderstood MC, NO). He did wrong things and he suffered because of it. No whitewashing, no face-slapping.... more>> Just straight up taking responsibility for his actions through karma. There is a trigger warning, though. Be careful with that. I understand that it was a plot device to push their relationship deeper and that I can't use human morals to apply in animals but like... I'm slightly against it (I skipped it but it's okay). And the end, ohhhhh I love love love the suprise at the end😍 BWHAHAHA

Protagonist: 10/10. I mentioned before that the MC isn't a good guy. And he isn't. He's not human, he's a serpent. And I love how the author embodied his character. I also loved how there was character progression as the plot unfolds and mind you, it was subtle. No immediate change of behavior—just slow character development which was perfectly executed. You can clearly see him change—from a serpent chasing for power to a serpent that knows that there is more important than power. And the MC is not the only one that's changing, but the ML too. You can see him change for MC in a good way. I especially love how both of them just influence each other and is always caring for each other despite that one tsunde (mc) saying otherwise.

Translation: 10/10. Perfectly translated. No gibberish words.

Okay this could just be me but in case anyone else thought this would be a super serious novel, it is not. Based on the translator’s warnings on CG about the cruel world and tons of lies and no grand warnings I thought this would be a heavy story, but I found it to be honestly not the that at all. And yes, fair warning, there is a noncon scene and you have to remember that the MC is a DEMON at heart with a moral code that doesn’t align... more>> with humans and an (initial) inability to not view the ML as a mere cultivation aid.

I found the novel to have a simple, straightforward plot and good character development. Overall I would rate it a 4.0 but the last extra was so gosh darn cute that I’m bumping it up to a 4.5/5.0 stars. <<less
