You are in a vegetative state. You’ve been lying in bed for six years.

You don’t respond to anyone’s touch, but only you know the truth—you can actually hear everything. You’ve endured the endless years in utter boredom, until the seventh year, when your attending doctor starts talking to you.

He shares with you his methods of killing during his medical career.

Flawless. Brilliant.

Your numb nerves are suddenly jolted, and you spend six months trembling as you listen. Maybe your nervous system was fully reawakened, because you miraculously regain consciousness. But you’re not particularly happy about it—because the first person to find out you’ve woken up will be your doctor. The one who shared his flawless mu*der techniques with you every single day.

Your muscles are atrophied, and your speech system is on the verge of collapse—

How will you escape?

Dr. Li Wei, the doctor walking toward you now, has many secrets.

First, he’s actually an assassin.

Second, he doesn’t understand human emotions at all. People who are too intelligent always know how to disguise themselves, see through rules, and disregard them. They fabricate emotions, offer kindness, and blend in seamlessly. By a twist of fate, he began confiding in the vegetative patient he’d cared for over the years, revealing his killing techniques—and once he started, he couldn’t stop.

But now, as that patient who has lain there for eight years wakes up with just a 1% chance of recovery, Li Wei faces an unprecedented professional crisis…

I really enjoyed the plot of this story. Given the synopsis, the MC's temperament was unexpected but quite welcome, I enjoyed his displays of wit throughout.

However, I felt that the main plot was rushed, and this story was just far too short. There was so much packed into this that I don't think could be fully explored in under 60 chapters. The exploration of trauma, the main characters' backstories, the stories of the side characters, the GW organization, and the religious and literary allusions and symbolism could all have been... more>> more fleshed out to create a more profound work with more chapters. I enjoyed all these subjects which is why I finished this story in a few hours, but I was left wanting more from all of it.

Li Wei's self-discovery and character development was done quite well, and Wang Jue was right, his "graduation thesis" was quite endearing. However, I would have loved to see more of his journey in recovering his memories, as we didn't get a whole lot for his backstory. Same with Wang Jue honestly, I feel like we were *told* about his backstory rather than *shown*, and I would have appreciated more if we were given more chapters to further explore the subject.

I found the side couple interesting as well, but I also found myself wishing for less focus on them (even though there already was very little) just so we could get as much out of the Main couple and main story plot in the limited time given. My biggest beef with the side characters is they didn't seem to be very well connected to the main characters, and they didn't feel like a natural part of the story.

Most of these points mentioned previously could have been remedied with twice as many chapters, which is why I'm only taking one star off. My threshold for a good story is quite low, and given these grievances I still thoroughly enjoyed this story, and will probably reread to get a better grasp on the subtle religious and literary allusions, which I live for. <<less
