Go Hoon, a college student with no family and nothing but a sturdy body to his name.

The morning after a drunken blackout, he wakes up to find he’s suddenly turned into a cat.

“Hello, kitty.”

To make matters worse, the one who picks up Hoon off the street is none other than his classmate Bae Jung-yoon. Caught off guard, Hoon ends up under Jung-yoon’s care.

With celebrity-level looks, unmatched intelligence, and overwhelming wealth, Bae Jung-yoon seems to have it all. But the longer they live together, the more Hoon begins to see a darker, dual-sided nature behind that perfect façade.

“I told you, didn’t I? More than anything, I hate it when people touch what’s mine.”

Then one day, after finally managing to return to human form, Hoon successfully escapes Jung-yoon’s home without his knowledge. Relieved that everything is finally back to normal— that relief is short-lived.

On the day he returns to school, he runs into Bae Jung-yoon on campus…

Somehow, it feels like Bae Jung-yoon recognizes him.

As of now, I think maybe a 4/5.

The main issue is that it relies a bit heavily on making the MC and/or ML sick or getting seriously injured to move the plot along (or delay certain things), which is fine the first two times but starts getting sort of tedious. Also the side characters get a bit annoying.

This feels like a novel many who are perpetually broke/in debt would appreciate, as it continually presents the MC with the question of whether struggling against constant stress and setbacks is worth it... more>> for autonomy or if life being pampered and "owned" by someone else isn't maybe better. Especially since said life is as a cat and he gets to sleep like 20 hours a day lmao

Though, if this were some sweet ML or even the stereotypical tsundere sort, there would probably be more weight on the cat side. Instead, the ML is barely bothering to suppress extremely violent tendencies and is a controlling, possessive yandere sort. If the MC didn't get glimpses of that early on, he'd probably have been fooled into going back to his pet life, but he, unlike most others, is well-aware of the ML's real nature, so he also has to struggle with that.

So far ML seems like a really good male yandere, bordering on black flag. It's actually really funny to watch him struggle with and come to terms with the fact he's obsessed with the MC, rarely do these sorts of novels give us the ML going through that as opposed to just accepting their obsession right away.

Normally, I'm not a huge fan of stories spending a lot of time on the setup for this sort of thing, but the author did a really good job with this because it showed some slice of life stuff, yes, but also setup the ML's personality and actions.

Regretfully, almost half the novel translation is still behind a paywall, two chapters released a week, and the translation site isn't one of the ones that give you access if you show proof you've bought the raws, so I'm still debating what to do since I really want to see where this goes. <<less

Wow, this story was really a surprise to me.

If you like dark romance with a lot of interaction between the MC and ML, you'll like this. (Me! That's me! I liked it so much I stayed up until almost dawn, and I'm way too old for that shit).

It doesn't start out that dark, but really you have to be okay with characters that are messed up and who fully accept that part of themselves (my personal favorite). The ML is dark in a way that the MC is secretly weak... more>> for, although he denies it to himself and the reader. (There are times the MC does mental gymnastics to rationalize his choices to himself, which is how you can tell.)

You should know up front that the ML has relations with another man briefly when the MC is his pet cat. And he also goes on dates while he is pursuing the MC to try and shake off his obsession (but nothing physical after he meets MC in his human form). The couple's physical relationship also starts off with body betrayal noncon. Actually, the MC seems to have a noncon kink, though this isn't obvious at first.

The MC is stuck in his cat form for the first 20 chapters or so, iirc. Then, almost no cat time. If you are here for the cute cat fluff, you might want to try another story. <<less

I think the story is good it just wasn't to my taste

ML is a manipulative psychopath and emotional black hole, he adopts MC as a cat and straight away becomes dangerous levels of obsessed, the MC let's the ML get away with more than what I found reasonable (and I didn't realize it was a snow burn romance) so I personally found it frustrating

but it's still well written; don't be afraid to give a try if you're alright with the afore mentioned things;

The MC as a cat is really fun... more>> to read and the ML is interesting in that he isn't romanticized, his obsession with things doesn't mean he actually cares about it (or that he is necessarily able to), it's possessiveness

Personal rating: 3* but for some I think this could for sure be a 5* novel <<less
