'Grandpa' in the ring. Worst cultivation world, without much spiritual energy. MC has the worst roots, 'mortal roots' meaning he can't cultivate. The grandpa gives him an elixir that helps him cultivate but it's very painful (of course). There is a girl who joined the sect the same time as him, she's a mysterious 'ice queen', probably the romantic interest... you get the idea, it's all the same generic stuff. The women get abused, or need his rescue. A powerful elder takes notice of him but then has to leave for a long period of time, leaving him unable to help the MC. The same bloody plots. in every novel. He has special 'Taoist heart' that makes cultivation even more difficult and treacherous (because of course he does). People in the sect are villainous and petty, they disrespect him because of his roots.

He cannot join the main sect because of his roots, so he goes to outer sect. The place he stays at coincidentally is the place where there is a demon. When fighting the demon, a ghost of dead disciple who was possessed reveals a disciple, nephew of an Elder, abused her (because of course, she's a woman right in a chinese novel), and is planning to abuse her sister who is an inner disciple. Now MC will fight against the demon, and also be enemies with this guy, and when he kills him, he'll be enemies with the elder (probably) and so and so forth.
