Everything was from our female mc's perspective so we only read her POV and she comes to some conclusions without presenting any proof to us.

Based on the facts and events narrated, I have a different opinion than her assumptions^^:

The way I see it, this story is about a man who loved a woman for a long time and a woman who slowly fell in love with him after marrying him.

So I think he was in love with her all along, he tried to forget her who held no interest in him, which is why he eventually asked her to marry him, thanked her for marrying him willingly on their 1st night and again at the end of his life <3.

Our MC made some weird conjectures from my pov, even though he never said any of that stuff (like asking for her hand because he didn't want someone he loved or who loved him). His true love being that other woman is also our mc's misunderstanding, I believe :)

This was short yet poignant. Sometimes love is just... that. There's no magical moment. It just happens and you just realize it and that's it. You don't find the need to have it reciprocated - you just love.

Well, sometimes love is... just like that. It just there, no need to be said at loud.

A companion is the best compassion.

I dare to say that they love each other and they're thankful to each other.

Somewhere between walking together in the journey of life with him, she fell in love. She didn't realised nor even thought the possibility of it but at the end of the journey, looking back at the distance they've covered together she realised that indeed, this was love.

While about him, maybe he would've fallen for her or maybe not. We will never know about that but one thing is for sure, that he was loved deeply by her.

This story somehow brought me close to tears, even though it's very short. Almost wished it was longer. But I think this is actually its ideal length. Anymore than this, it wouldn't have been this beautiful and touching. Out of many stories I've read so far, I think this was one of the rare ones that gave out the true meaning of what love is.

I forgot to review. My previous self put this as "4" but I'm going to make it a "5".

I could see why I rated it as 4. It's quite short and feels like there's something else lacking. I'm adding another start just because there's not much story about this kind of love. It's bittersweet story despite MC technically winning the ML and growing old with him.

That was the most aromantic love story I've ever read. Haha. Very nice. The format was a long essay with a linear progression but with little inner details. That's why I call it more like an essay. The writing marches along to a goal, which is her realization and the book's title.

I couldn't believe I almost cried after reading this story. The story is simply beautiful yet heartbreaking at the same time. I wish I could read the story from ML's POV. Did he ever love her or simply just was comfortable enough around her all these times?
