However, as the people of the land had never reached the deep sea, the center of the rumors circulating among them always involved figures of the royal family of the undersea kingdom.
The undersea kingdom, Deltia. A kingdom founded by the ancestors of humanity who descended into the sea long ago, among the numerous sea races.
The royal family of Deltia ruled all the people of the sea with their unique divine abilities.
They spearheaded maritime trade, and boasted a brilliant civilization as much as they enjoyed the vast sea.
But even the rulers of the undersea kingdom were mere fodder for gossip on land. It had been an age-old tradition, ever since the kingdoms of the land were established, to wag poisoned tongues at the undersea kingdom.
The people of the land often mocked the former king of the undersea kingdom for having many concubines, claiming the saltiness of the sea was the sweat shed by the former king and his concubines every night.
When the concubine’s child, who had killed the former king and ascended the throne, took power, the people of the land began weaving new rumors.
‘The blood of those the tyrant of the sea slaughtered is this foul.’
When walking along the beach, there are times when the fishy smell of the sea drifts in on the wind from afar.
The people of the land, without finding it unusual, pointed fingers at this smell, calling it the stench of blood from those the monarch of Deltia had slaughtered.
No matter how great a tyrant the ruler of the undersea kingdom was, he could not escape those rumors. His legitimacy was questioned everywhere.
Pereian Richard, the current monarch of Deltia, who had just ascended the throne after killing the former king and his brothers, needed a tool to restore his prestige, which had plummeted to the abyssal depths along with the rumors.
