Yurkia became the private tutor of a young boy named Rubeteo, the illegitimate son of the emperor.

He was asked to teach the boy only until he came of age—after all, Rubeteo was destined to become the future crown prince.

Though timid and reluctant, Yurkia couldn’t refuse the emperor’s command and was forced to head north, where Rubeteo resided.

When they first met, the boy didn’t speak and showed no emotion. But perhaps thanks to Yurkia’s gentle and warm demeanor, Rubeteo gradually opened up—and grew especially attached to him.

Rubeteo wouldn’t let him go.
