The Heaven Demon Lord, leader of the Evil Sect:

“Return to my side and take up the Demonic Sect’s sword again. I won’t let you wander as you please anymore. If you don’t come back, you’ll die.”

And the Alliance Leader of the Righteous Faction:

“Don’t worry and accept the sword of the Righteous Sects that I bestow upon you. If you abandon the Demonic Sect and come to the Righteous Sects, I will personally keep you by my side and protect you for life.”

The two women representing the martial arts world glared at each other coldly across my restaurant. Having escaped from the Evil Sect and secretly opened this restaurant, it’s become quite troublesome now that it’s a famous spot in the martial arts world.

The story is kind of a drag, it starts to repeat a lot of things and got boring. Many of the chapters are structured as follows: customer (all are women except one) eats food at restaurant, customer has reaction to the good food, customer leaves review, potentially customer pondering how to get protagonist to cook for them every day, end of chapter.

Some of these chapters were interesting, but got bland after the repeating pattern. For context, there have been 13 new customers introduced in the above manner. On top of... more>> that these customers come again and there is another similar chapter and they leave another review.

There is a lot of repetition like this, just another example, is that the protagonist gets the line "the man who burned the marital world, now living as a chef" or something like that was repeated so many times.

The only interesting chapters I found were of the Heavenly Demon, but there wasn't much of that.

Aside from this, I have a minor critique, which isn't that big of a deal. The protagonist wanted to make a refrigerator so he stole a frozen pearl from a vault, but there are many other things that he uses that seem like there shouldn't be the technology in the martial world. The most egregious of these tools are the mention of a rice cooker. While I didn't think it was that big of a deal, I think the story would be much more interesting if the author attempted to do something where he tries to develop the tools, like the refrigerator, rather than just mentioning them in the story. <<less

So we start off with an MC winning a cooking competition which crowns him as possibly the best chef in the world and he credits it to a martial arts novel which he promptly gets sent to afterwards

He then becomes the Flame Emperor, the most powerful asset which helps raise the future heavenly demon.

However, this power is limited and he also made a promise that he wants to get out and pursue his dream as a chef which leads to him sneaking out the sect and settling in a backwater... more>> town.

The writing on the cooking is very vivid like the shokugeki no soma of KR novels except its from an ancient period. The writing is straightforward and you will be able to understand it.

The FMC's are well fleshed out but my only problem is that some of them feel too "trauma dumpy" which is my only con so far.

Despite that, the pros heavily outweigh the cons and this makes for a good read~ 4.5/5 <<less

This story is about a chef who gets sent into a martial arts webtoon world. He takes over the body of the Flame Emperor, a guy who's supposed to die. To avoid that, he escapes the Demonic Cult and opens a restaurant hoping to live quietly.

The writing is pretty clear, especially when describing the food. It makes the cooking sound good.

The main problem is his cooking is too good. It attracts powerful people. The future Heavenly Demon, Seol Arin, already loves his food from the past. The leader of the... more>> Righteous Sects, So Jinyeong, finds his place and becomes a regular customer too.

Joohyeok tries to hide, but his restaurant keeps getting more famous because these important people eat there and spread the word. Other characters; from the Righteous Sects, merchant guild people, and even a mermaid start showing up.

    Pros:

    • Cool mix of cooking and martial arts.
    • Food parts are well-written.
    • Funny situations with the powerful customers.
    Cons:

    • Might get repetitive with everyone loving the food.
    • You have to accept food is super influential.
    • More cooking than fighting action.
Overall a less serious read, to check in every now and then would recommend. <<less
