his parents had just gone through a divorce after discovering that his father was a serial s*umbag cheater living a double life

[collapse]
. To comfort him, his close friend Ruan Xi plans a cruise trip and accidentally books the only double room available, kickstarting over 2 weeks of an ambiguous time together in close quarters.

The FL transferred to a new city and high school due to her parents' job relocation, becoming the ML's classmate and neighbor. The two, along with the male lead's childhood friend, formed a trio and spent a wonderful youth together. The male lead took special care of her, and budding feelings quietly blossomed between them. Later, the three friends end up attending different universities and have fewer opportunities to get together.

The story begins with the ML reuniting with the FL in a port city while accompanying his mother on errands during summer break. At this time, the male protagonist's family has fallen apart due to his father's infidelity. The FL invites him on a cruise to clear his head, but due to a misunderstanding, she books a standard cabin, and they both have to share a room for 15 days.

FL & ML had long been repressing their romantic feelings for each other for years, but were afraid of jeopardizing their beautiful friendship. The many flashbacks give us readers a glimpse into how their relationship has always been more than just friends, but both lack the courage to cross the line. Their feelings and doubts only intensify the more time they spend together. Although he's acting nonchalant on the outside, ML is down bad for his girl. FL even calls him out for his ice cube consumption and daily cold showers without realizing she's the reason he's had to restrain himself.

After the FL gets drunk one night and some grievances are aired, they kiss, which then leads to a hot makeout session. This is the catalyst that gives them the confirmation and courage to confess and clear up prior misunderstandings. This couple is very sweet, and their interactions really showcase the charms of being in love during your youth-- working hard towards your career aspirations, sneaking in snu snu time, being seduced and seducing unintentionally, knowing and anticipating their preferences, thinking about and missing the other when you're apart.

From their tentative, tentative steps to their embrace at dusk, Shu Wei tenderly writes, "Love is instinct, and also a solitary courage." The story is incredibly heartwarming and even throws in some unexpected laughs. The pacing builds up tension and grants relief without dragging matters out, making it perfect for bedtime reading! <<less
