[Illegal Skill ab*ser ‘Shinbi (Full Name: Shinbi-jui)’ has been detected.]

It’s been a whole year since I got trapped in the game for using one skill incorrectly, living on the run from the anti-cheat program.

“I told you it wasn’t imprinting, it was a stigma skill! Ack, go away!”

I was ensnared by a man who appeared along with a disturbing dream.

He was none other than the chief of the ‘Varg’—a race of wolf monsters deleted because of the players’ skill ab*se.

They are a race that hates players, calling them ‘Destroyers’.

“I’ll hide your identity, so you must act as my mate.”

I bit the bullet and accepted just to stay alive.

But every day, he’s only interested in that damned mating.

He shoves me into dungeons without a single word.

It feels like he’s just waiting for me to die, day by day.

“I’m your mate, right?”

“Even if they find out I’m an Awakener… you won’t let me die, will you?”

“I don’t think there was such a condition in the contract.”

I knew it.

This rotten bastard.

Fine, in that case, I’ll be the one to abandon you first.

I took the first chance I got and left him.

I thought he wouldn’t care anyway.

However.

“Why did you follow me? I told you I don’t need you.”

“Where in the world is there a Varg who doesn’t need a mate? Come here, Bi.”

He suddenly came chasing after me, eyes blazing, and declared he would never let me go.

…Weren’t you the one who hated me and wanted to kill me?

Love this! Hard to find a good werewolf story. This combines the Hunter/gate trope with video games and a system. But the system isn’t annoying and the use of skills is natural within the story. Snu snu is well written and the characters have depth to them as well. I really like the world building and looking forward to reading more!

I am actually screaming because why was this SO fun to read?? I went in expecting nothing but came out emotionally attached and slightly unhinged. 105 chapters sounded long at first, but somehow it was not enough. I finished it and just sat there like... that’s it?? Author-nim please I need more Karvan and Shinbi immediately!!

Karvan is absolutely feral in the best way. The possessiveness, the territorial instincts, the raw jealousy, everything is peak werewolf mate energy. He is intense and overwhelming, but it fits so perfectly within the bond... more>> dynamic that it never feels random. Watching him lose composure over Shinbi had me grinning like an idiot. I love a man who folds only for his girl!!

Shinbi is smart and capable, but emotionally she lags just enough to make me yell at my screen a few times. The misunderstandings stretched a bit, yes, but when things finally fall into place, the payoff is delicious. Their chemistry grows stronger and stronger, and once they are on the same page, it is game over.

The worldbuilding is seriously impressive. It feels structured and expansive like a shonen action series layered with romance. The hunter and gate setup, the skill mechanics, the power system, it all feels properly developed. The action scenes are exciting and actually matter to the plot. This is truly where smut and action are done right. The heat is intense, the fights are thrilling, and both are woven into the story instead of feeling like random additions.

Oh! And huge thank you to the translator for bringing this story to us and making it accessible. I had way too much fun reading this that even if the pacing dips slightly in the middle, I was still invested because the overarching fate connections kept unfolding in interesting ways.

Anyways.. if you love obsessive werewolf mates, solid power systems, shonen-level worldbuilding, and romance that delivers both spice and adrenaline, please pick this up!! <<less

This is so good and an easy reading for me. It has rawness of a werewolf's emotions, his turmoils, and enough possessiveness that make him 'inhuman' yet believable since I believe at this point we already knew Werewolves' behaviors towards their 'mates'. This book gives enough butterflies when it comes to jealousy, and it isn't stiffly. What frustrated me was the common troupe of 'smart but not sensitive FL' that dragging too long (for me), but compared to other stories, actually this one wasn't that bad, I guess. Recommended.

Easily one of my favorite reads this year. I genuinely devoured this story like a hotcake. The pacing is fast and the writing is very easy to digest, making it incredibly bingeable. There's barely a moment where I felt bored or tempted to skim, except for a short stretch around the 50-ish chapter mark where the plot dragged slightly.

Despite containing smut, the overall vibe is surprisingly shoujo-like. The story carries a strong comedic undertone, balanced nicely with light drama. The way the main characters' relationship develops feels very wholesome and... more>> organic, especially once misunderstandings are thankfully cleared up around chapter 44.

One standout aspect is the worldbuilding. For a rofan, it's impressively detailed and well thought-out, making the setting feel immersive rather than just a backdrop for the romance. This is further enhanced by the use of multiple POVs (not just from the male lead, but also from side characters) which adds depth to both the characters and the world itself.

The past plays a huge role in the narrative, and the way the characters' fates are interconnected genuinely caught me off guard. The novel leans heavily into the werewolf obsession trope, complete with mates and destiny, which fans of the genre will likely enjoy. However, readers unfamiliar with MMORPG terminology might struggle a bit, as some terms aren't fully explained.

One noticeable downside is the lack of female characters. Aside from one other female presence,

women are barely mentioned throughout the story, which feels somewhat limiting.

If you enjoy shoujo-like romance, supernatural/game elements, and surprisingly solid worldbuilding in a rofan, this is definitely worth picking up.

Now we wait for the side stories... <<less
