While faithfully continuing a marriage bound to end, he found himself pregnant with a child that had never been part of the contract, nor of any plan.

“I’ve always wondered… why wasn’t a child part of the conditions?”

“Because I thought it pitiful—being born without love, only out of s*xual desire and necessity. And if I were to have a child, I would have chosen someone else, not you, Go Igyeol. The better the genetic traits, the better.”

Seo Dohyeon did not want the child, and Go Igyeol decided he would protect it.

“If I were you, I’d also prefer to have a child with a dominant omega rather than a recessive one like me.”

“You understand well. There will never be a time when you give birth to my child, Go Igyeol.”

To safely give birth, Go Igyeol resolved to leave Seo Dohyeon.

To a place where Seo Dohyeon could never find him.

At last! A novel that actually deals with the pregnancy period and not just skip time to 3-4 years.

Also the prologe does not prolong to 50-60 chapters, MV run away around the 22/23 chapters and it seems he is gonna get forced back by chap 30...I'm hoping we can had a lot more chapters dealing with the aftermath instead of just rushing to a happy ever after.

As for the characters:

MC's circumstances to marriage are the well know "Grandfather best friend promise to marriage arregment". But his personal reason to accept... more>> it is a mix of both "love at first sight" and "desperate to leave his adoptive house/father"

As for ML, it seems he just accepted it to please their elders but also decide to make a secret Marriage Contract with MC. And yes, there were clauses in case of unwanted pregnancy.

About their relationship; I'm not gonna say MC is naive, he keeps misinterpreted ML actions without actually asking about ML feelings. ML is also at fault as he brings only "reasons" instead of trying to deep dwell on his feelings for MC.

MC is an unreliable narrator, he keeps saying ML is not affectionate but I read a lot of instances and scenes were he is. ML definitely has a rude and indifferent side (mostly in sex) but is cristal clear he do care about MC. The instances where ML forced something on MC are spotted on because we have a lot more where MC have more agency, is a fresh air to read about an ML alpha treating his omega as partner despise the age gap and not wanting to overwhelming control him 24/7. At least for the 20 first chapters let's see how this progress.

(updating as I read)

Oh, girl. Author didn't really spare the dog Bl00d. From chap 30 to 40 there's domestic violence (r*pe scenes, verbal ab*se, descriptions of malnutrition from a pregnant person and blood). ML didn't hit him but with what he did every night is enough to feel nauseous. You either read or skip because they are pivotal to form an "utterly broken relationship" and "Broken" MC for later chaps. ML crematorium scenes began around the 50 chap with him realizing how much of a bastard he were.

Spoiler

I thought the baby would die and thus ML will feel guilty but it was just a premature birth (chaps 45/46) to lead an eve more guilty trip

I read plenty of 'regretful top' stories but this one is GRIM - so grim that I honestly didn't want them to get back together.
Spoiler

MC is so completely broken by ML in every conceivable way that I felt nauseous at times. Reading about his hallucinations and self-harm was the worst.

[collapse]
Don't believe the review giving partial blame to MC, dunno what they've been smoking if they genuinely think him being friends with an alpha is somehow a bad thing.

Spoiler

ML is not only an as*hole but comes across as dumb for his insistence on the baby not being his. I know they use protection but no contraceptive is 100% reliable, why is it so impossible to believe it might be your baby? He's such a loser I swear.

[collapse]

The MC suffers so much that at some point it just started to get exhausting. Every time you think things might be calming down and he's free to heal some absolute bullsh*t happens.
Spoiler

I also felt like the ending of the main story was kinda abrupt and unsatisfying, but tbh they seem so miserable together that I dunno what would've been satisfying to me.

This is a very typical omegaverse novel. MC has a very cold personality and shows no interest in ML and only married ML to escape his previous life.I think ML really cares about MC, he supports him many times in front of his friends and family. But MC interprets everything as something else for himself. The novel is not that toxic and violent. Their relationship is so cold and meaningless that I wish they would really get divorced because they can't make each other happy and they're not even in... more>> love. Many people might side with MC, but MC has done so many s*upid things, and why would he even spend time with a college friend who is also an alpha?? And lie so s*upidly about it, causing misunderstandings. MC is also to blame. It's true that ML thought MC had cheated on him and got pregnant by someone else, so he acted that way, but MC is also to blame.I really don't think I would care if they got divorced at the end of the novel. Overall, their marriage didn't have a good relationship and their life was loveless and boring. If you're looking for an omegaverse novel between alpha and omega, pregnancy, and family conflicts, read this novel. But if you love toxic novels, this is very ordinary and not satisfying. <<less

I am not really good at writing reviews so fair warning, I also just wanna preface this by saying I completely skipped the first twenty chapters, I thought I would skip the MC's suffering but NO.

Warning!

This novel contains eating disorders, self-harm, thoughts of su*cide, attempted su*cide (?), r*pe, and ab*se.

... more>> For reference it took me around 6 hours to finish the main story.

Objectively the plot is good, its realistic and theres a good regret/ chasing arc.

Personally, this novel is horrible. The MC suffers so much this is not an understatement. The ML is absolutely horrible to him. I want you to ignore the review that puts the blame onto the MC he is completely innocent and did nothing wrong it is all the ML's fault.

If you are reading and think you've gone through the worst, you are wrong. He suffers more and more every chapter. It only really starts to get better around ch92.

The MC suffers the most from ch28 till like the 90s before he starts to get better. Even at the end of the main story he has not healed from what he went though. He has not forgiven the ML yet.

I shed tears throughout, but mostly at chapters 65 and 74.

Spoiler

The MC runs away in the mid 20s but gets caught around ch30ish. The ML does not believe the baby is his, he r*pes the MC continuously. The MC has bruises all over his body and is completely broken

Spoiler

ch 55/56 The ML r*pes the MC and is even more rough because of his rut and this causes the MC to go into early labour. He suffers so much, he self harms and is depressed. He gets beaten up by his mother-in-law as well. He only starts to improve after his aunt visits him. But even then he has hallucinations, hates himself, and self harms.

[collapse]

The ML is so toxic I really did not want them to get back together but whatever. The ML regrets everything he did so much so if you want a regret/ chasing arc you're in the right place.

I'll try and update when I finish the rest of the chapters.

Edit: I just wanna say that the novel was good. I know I talked a lot about how the MC suffered and how the ML is an as*hole but it is really well written and the characters have so much depth to them. It was a hard read but I did enjoy it, if you are not sensitive to the themes I mentioned above then I'd definitely recommend this novel

edit: Is it just me or not because I cannot access the link

edit: I'm so annoyed because I finished the main story and decided to finish the side stories the next day and slept, only to wake up and not be able to access the link. <<less

I really loved the plot, even though it follows the typical trope of the abusive ML who later feels regret. However, the writing is exceptional. There is a lot of physical and psychological ab*se that some might find hard to stomach. I cried throughout this entire part because it was truly shocking.

What I liked here is that when the ML discovered the truth and realized what he had done, his personality didn't suddenly flip into a rush of apologies like in many other novels I've read. The portrayal of emotions... more>> here is much more realistic; the story is heart-wrenching, and the description of what the MC endured is so painful it makes you ache and cry alongside them.

I appreciate how the author used the ML to facilitate the MC's healing process. In psychology, it’s often said that while an apology might not fully heal the pain, we still crave an explanation from those who hurt us. This is because an apology helps restore our self-image; it validates that we weren't to blame, helping to mend the sense of self-worth that was shattered by the trauma. Since those suffering from psychological trauma often struggle with self-blame and feelings of inferiority, the mind struggles to comprehend why the ab*se happened.

In this story, the ML recognized his mistake; at first, he couldn't let go, but he eventually realized he had shattered the MC and needed to step back. Yet, he didn't abandon them he tried to mend what he had broken. One of the most touching and realistic elements that helped the MC endure the pain was the presence of the Aunt. It made me think: yes, they truly needed a 'safe person' to overcome this trauma.

I believe this novel isn't for everyone, but I’m glad I looked past the bad reviews and decided to read it. <<less
