Chen Sanshi transmigrated into the chaotic era at the end of a dynasty. Fortunately, he had the Liver-Busting System by his side.

He originally planned to hunt for money, save up, and one day join a martial arts school to learn a few moves—just to live a peaceful life as a wealthy man. But fate had other plans. Corrupt officials extorted the people, martial arts schools bullied the weak, and just to survive, he had no choice but to enlist in the army as an archer.

From [Archery (Beginner)] , he grinded his way to [Wielding a Ten-Thousand-Stone Bow, Every Arrow Unavoidable] , shooting down enemy generals from a hundred miles away!

From [Basic Spear Techniques] , he pushed himself to [Dragon Spear of the Nation, Stronger with Every Battle] , standing tall with his spear, single-handedly forcing back an army of a million!

Years later, after countless battles across the land, Chen Sanshi had become truly invincible, commanding an elite cavalry of two hundred thousand.

As he looked at the golden imperial robe draped over him by his generals, he let out a helpless sigh:

“You guys… You guys are really screwing me over here!”

Since I enjoy system novels and historical novels, I gave this one a try. I only read 2 chapters, and can't say much about the quality or plot of the work, so I won't give a rating. Stopped reading because of the way the transmigrated MC immediately focused on the physical attractive qualities of the 'child bride' of the original (who not only looked down on her but exploited her labour) and by chapter 2 continued the trend by sleeping with her while she is legitimately afraid of being sold... more>> to a brothel.

Clearly the author tries to portray the MC as caring and pragmatic, but this opportunism within the first few chapters made me lose all interest in continuing to read. <<less

It's alright.

The world's a desolate era cultivation type, where there isn't enough qi to cultivate where the protagonist is and such

Warring states, Military / nobility setting.

... more>> The system is a Panel type as in [Archery (Beginner) 0/500] whenever he advances he gains some sort of Attribute / title. that gives him something like a Physique helpful to the skill he's practicing for archery or Spearmanship, Photographic memory from reading, and others skills for Horse riding/commanding troops and such, I won't list them cause spoilers.

The battles are pretty nice, the Military tactics reminded me of Kingdom for a bit, it was fun reading that.

The protagonist just wants to live a peaceful life but obviously in this type of world you need to be strong to live like that, he's also righteous so he helps people when he can. and isn't the typical cultivator. counting lives as just numbers. he's careful when need be, doesn't trust anyone without need.

The interactions between characters is lacking a bit but it has no mistakes. the author's aware that writing dialogue isn't a skill he's good at so he doesn't which is honest.

his main wife is reasonable, there is no drama or angst in there relationship wish there was more words allocated for dialogue between them but it's alright

the story seems to be a harem, though not much is really happening with anyone other than his wife, he's definitely not just collecting pokemon and being shallow, if only other novels follow this type but actually have more interactions between the characters... There seems to only be a second FL for now maybe a third. she's also pretty reasonable.

The villains in this aren't all 1d surprisingly, though 1d villains still exist.

Overall I like this story, pretty good to pass the time. and for brothers who like Body Cultivation the first 180ch I've read so far are mainly that with Spearmanship alongside archery.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

as for what the other reviewer said (which is why I wrote this review in the first place, it doesn't have any good reviews sadly so I thought I'd just write one) , he didn't really treat the wife "awfully" in the beginning like they said, after all she wasn't even a wife then, just a child bride his father bought when he was young instead of her being sold to a brothel or something, The host before he transmigrated was trying to become a scholar essentially staying home in his room all day to study while she worked to provide for him after his father passed recently (sewing in the morning/washing cloths for others after) , he looked down on her because of her status, so they probably didn't talk too often, she's grateful to his father cause wasn't sold to a brothel so didn't really hate the MC, though she wasn't exactly infatuated with him like the other guy said, after the MC transmigrated even if she noticed he's different now, what will she do? she's just a s*ave pretty much, that's what child brides are in ancient times unfortunately. and he's doing what he should be doing in the first place, the host failed the exam last time, they're down to their last silver and he doesn't even have many books and ink to study, Following in his father's footsteps to try hunting is reasonable.

keep in mind Interactions aren't really the main point of this novel, the author knows he's not good at them or just doesn't want to do them so they're very brief, left to your imagination kinda.

okay that's it, sorry rant over. (that guy only gives one star reviews anyways.) <<less

MC is evil with twisted logic and justice but that's okay because everyone here is evil

Spoiler

MC has a wife

Thug wants wife and gets killed by MC at night, corpse hidden with no one knowing

Thug's brother from a martial arts school comes for revenge on pure suspicion and gets killed without traces as well

Thug-brother's martial school higher up gives a gift to make it up to MC due to his military status, letting bygones be bygones

MC after taking the gift decides this enemy is too smart to be left alive

Later on we get an internal monologue of this "evil person" who decides to backstab MC in the future because that was apparently the plan all along

[collapse]

Dude is a horndog - even as a malnourished weak hunter he works hard with his wife every night instead of spending that energy on getting food, bro couldn't even wait a few days to begin

The most immersion breaking part of this story is how the country is still standing since every single person (EVERYONE except for the people MC is friends with) is a paranoid backstabber

Spoiler

Corruption is extremely rampant even in the military, when paying money for martial skills if the person doesn't like you they can just take the money and teach nothing with no problems from anyone...

Additionally, great merit to the country means the emperor rewards you with a delayed poison wine to control you

[collapse]

Like damn

The Martial arts growth to eventual immortality and various lore going on in the background is actually pretty interesting but all the people in this world are terrible sub-human scum <<less

I've been hesitant to start this because of the reviews until I was bored but now, after reading, I urge people to give it a try and see if it's for them (edit: especially since I see some people are, for some reason, purposefully ignoring whole plot points and twisting narrative to paint a different picture).

So far its really good and gets better and better. The writing flows nicely, its very detailed (especially power progression, fight choreography and world building) and the pacing is good.

Romance is really not a focus... more>> of this more like motivation, but The main complaint I saw was his wife and its really not not as bad as its made to sound.

She's technically a "child bride" but its more like she was saved by MCs father when she was going to be sold off and brought home and they grew up together (they're both arounf 18 or less at the start of the story) but he never saw her as his wife and didn't treat her well but she was never physically ab*sed. The original MC took advantage of the fact she was willing to work and left all the expenses to her while he was hellbent on becoming a scholar, the same thing he did with his father.

Two maybe valid points are that post reincarnation he changed behavior too quickly and that he shouldnt have been so quick to sleep with her since she still was a bit afraid but:

1) his change in attitude could be attributed by the shock of his father dying and then being in the verge if death (no money, no food, tax collectors knocking) wich is a little flimsy as an explanation but not that bad,

2) from his thoughts he believed he was reassuring her when he slept with her because she didn't believe he wanted her as his bride and looked down on herself. Its still taking advantage in some ways but it's not as opportunistic and malicious as it's made to sound as if he saw her vulnerable and coerced and targeted her like some villain

The MC is pretty realistic and level headed, compassionate when he can be but also calculating because it's a pretty hard world to survive in. He stays consistent with the fact he wants to be able to live without fear, but over time the world just shows that without power he's lamb for slaughter for people that will trample on him and his loved ones without reason. No matter how many times he tried to lay low or play the game someone tried to kill him and those near him, and he's been forced to protect himself and kill. He's not a Gary stue or a saint and never tried to kill himself for strangers, but since chapter 1 he's not forgotten the hopelessness and powerlessness of commoners as himself so whenever he can he helps or at the very least avengers those that don't have the strength to do so, or even gives them the chance to take matters in their own hands as seen as thr growing army of loyal followers around him, most of wich started as commoners that survived with him (reason why it makes no sense to me how someone can call him "evil")

If I had to name my favorite part I'd undoubtedly say its the hype. Ths writing style and the way the battles flow truly make it feel like watching a legend in the making, it's gradual and satisfying and every struggle is rewarding and its not just endless killing, everything that happens comes back later and is used, from the people he helps, to his reputation and previous battle strategies, its just satisfying to read through especially when you get past the initial period when he really had to struggle for every inch he got

The romance isn't exactly a focus but they have a great relarionships and she's great emotional support (And as rime passes shes showing shes smart abd nay eben be hiding other qualities). The strong point of MC I'd say is his being level headed and hard working, in just a few chapters he faced multiple setbacks that he just kept grinding through so I'd say for now he's a good MC. The power progression, world building and fight choreography are the focus and I say they're pretry well done.

At the end of the day what I want to express is: if the tags or the synopsis picked your interest I have yet to found anything bad enough to prevent you from giving it a try, and if you like army and reputation building so far I think this is actually great. <<less

It starts with the cliche plot of a thug lusting after the MC's woman. Of course, the MC's wife (who happens to be a beauty) was treated like sh*t by the MC, but is still infatuated with him. And even with her being his wife, why would he not try to subtlety change over time. If someone who treated you like shit, looked down on you, and was considering selling you suddenly changed overnight and became caring, that'd be a little suspicious. Not to mention he disdained hunting and wanted... more>> to be a scholar but suddenly sold all his writing materials and decided to go hunt. All these changes at once don't seem suspicious?

I kept reading and MC is too nosy and keeps sticking himself out to help other people when he can barely protect himself and his wife. Without plot armor he would have been skinned alive by now. <<less

agree with Rinren's review, dialogue is lacking but it's alright, story is entertaining, the thing that bothers me the most is after a certain change of pace ... more>>

he gets to the cultivation world

[collapse]
it's like the story just ignores the fact that MC is absolutely overpowered to the extreme with his system.. All of a sudden every single character just starts catching up with their magical physiques and heavenly talents just so that the MC still has some connection to former allies and enemies have a chance vs him instead of introducing new enemies/allies and having the other characters slowly catch up with an event (like idk a time freeze for MC or something? Need some way to slow him down if u wanna keep the extras relevant)

As for previous complaints of a child wife, I think it's a mistranslation it's not actually that the wife is a child and he is an adult it's that the father bought her as a child as a wife for his son or another possibility! The father was a s*umbag and bought the child wife for himself, then after a few years the father died and now the son takes over? It's not really made clear but it feels like her and MC are similar in age to me so I believe my first conjecture. <<less

I cant believe this novel has such a low rating. Right now im at chapter 147 and its amazing! Mostly focus and cultivation and war strategies. The war plot and characters are very well written.

I love that our MC had a very decisive and ruthless personality. If you nice then he is nice back to you, but will not let even the slightest $hit against him slide. And the "harem" part is also not excessive at all. None of the female character is annoying which is shocking lol.

If you are... more>> considering this novel, please give it a shot first. Its really worth it! <<less
