Cecil, an ordinary employee at a village inn, suddenly regains the memories of his past life. He realizes he is inside a game, and he is nothing more than a simple inn NPC.

Since he’s just an extra anyway, he wants to save up some money, travel around, and live a comfortable life. But for that to happen, the protagonist must save the world first.

Since he at least had a sub-quest to offer, he merely intended to prepare a special potion for the hero.

However, the very first person he encounters is the protagonist’s rival character, Derek Irnian. And he somehow ends up continuously entangled with him.

Derek let out a soft smirk. However, it didn’t seem like the gesture lightened the mood or meant he had any intention of giving up.

“There’s no need for that. I can just finish it off right now.”

“Ugh!”

Derek roughly yanked his sleeve from my grasp and strode forward. He never once looked back. I wasn’t sure if he was ignoring me because he had already warned me to leave, or if he was genuinely angry.

“Ugh…”

I couldn’t just walk away now. There is absolutely no way Derek can defeat that monster on his own. The storyline of this world has already dictated it. Yet, the thought of actually stepping up to help him fight the beast made me hesitate.

And for good reason. Because that monster…
