She dedicated five years of her life serving as the Akarna of the temple while she was the crown prince’s lover.

“Do you not understand? If you cannot give birth to an heir, then you can’t become the empress. It’s just… It’s just a political marriage. But you must understand that I love only you.”

And yet, it’s as if he gave her something that’s perhaps nothing more than alms—the position of a concubine.

‘Are you telling me that you’re going to marry another woman and make me a concubine? And you’re expecting me to just accept that?’

When the carriage she was riding in rushed towards a cliff, she impulsively let herself fall. And when she opened her eyes again, she found herself at that place.

The forest where the empire’s most despised species lived.

Honestly so fun. I really enjoyed the character development and emotional development of the MC and her husbands. I agree w/ a few other reviews about the snu snu being a bit over done in parts. The author was going crazy there for a while lol but it calms down a lot later. I also don’t really care about the prince’s redemption either so I’m glad that IF side story was short.

Eh... 3.5, its not that I hated it or didn't read the tags (I got what I was expecting..), but yea...

While this story does have a decent amount of plot and conflict, one of the scenes got me bored... I don't mind the individual scenes, but then it just gets wild and a bit weird as more and more are introduced. I'm perfectly fine with harem novels (2-5 ml's) as I've read a bunch, but... ... more>>
Spoiler

the harem in this book is MASSIVE. 30+ freakin people!!! And there were like, ~8 chapters dedicated to that scene w/ FL blind folded. Kind of felt pity for FL

[collapse]

The premise of the story was very interesting, but IDK if it will be explored more. I don't have my hands on following chapters after ch 83, so I'm not sure. I don't mind reading more tho, I'm a bit too curious about what happens to drop this one

I like the main five because we get to somewhat know their personalities and... Misc... I really wish we got to know more about them, but IG it is to be expected in this genre (which is why I didn't give it a lower rating). So far, I wouldn't necessarily describe the story as a romance, but the main 5 Ml's are very sweet/friendly. The FL is not overly weak, and all her decisions aren't that unbelievable considering how
Spoiler

she was kind of brainwashed, and desperately clinging onto hope and love and a feeling of betrayal

[collapse]

Spoiler

If I remember correctly, the relationship is not exactly love but instinct to survive, however, it isn't completely mindless smut with overly selfish intentions (they did wish for her happiness). But when faceless and nameless others get involved, it kind of got dull and repetitive with no emotion (might just be me)...

[collapse]

First time I've read a story about supernatural creatures that are not the typical ones found in this genre (werewolf, vampire, shapeshifter, demon, angel etc), so I don't know if this is typical of these types of stories.

If you are here for reverse harem sm*t and some emotions, you'll like it for sure. <<less

I was really surprised by this.

Every once in a while I'll run into a story like this and think: this sounds intriguing, but does it have any plot if you skip the s*x scenes? And, it really did. It's a nice, heartwarming story about healing your body and heart, and finding a place for yourself. It was such a pleasant surprise that I want to go back and read it again. Now that I know which chapters to skip, it'd be a faster read.

At the same time, the s*x scenes... more>> aren't just added on gratuitously -- even by skimming so I knew where to skip through them, I could see they were nestled carefully into the plot to support it. Like a lover.

To be honest, I'm a bit floored because the r19 books I've read before either sacrifice plot for smut or they just act like the plot exists as a thread to string together someone's bedroom diary. Before this, I'd yet to find a novel that handled it really well as an extension of the story. There is also angst in this but, again, it's not there just to exist, but as a way to enhance and move along the story. The entire story also revolves around that our MC is an isekai and, after she is repeatedly given a chance to return home, she gives it serious consideration before making a choice. I guess I'm just really impressed with the fact that aspects that are usually treated as add-ons were handled with serious consideration here.

Folks who are against polamory or reverse harems won't enjoy this.

This story is definitely a 4.9/10.

The character development of the protagonist is one of the main points of this story. Moving on and accepting what happened to her despite the intricacies—despite what you think the truth to be not being all that it seems.

The truth about Akarna’s and their origin which admittedly is introduced very early, but it has a very big effect on Jiwoo.

... more>> The truth about the Crown Prince, rarely mentioned as his true name.

The truth about the Temple.

Nothing is ever as seen by Jiwoo, and in a way I think that is the biggest betrayal that she experienced.

The ‘elves’ technically aren’t the Empire’s most despised species they’re apart of the group that the Empire despises the most.

My favorite thing about the Crown Prince is that despite his name being known, health only ever referred to, even in his own POV, as Crown Prince. It symbolizes how even he only sees himself as the identity that holds importance to the world, and what influenced the way he treated Jiwoo.

Spoiler

The fact that around the end of the story when she asked if he even knew her name, he knew it. The only reason he called her Akarna was because of it’s second meaning: “lovely lover.” But she forgot that.

[collapse]

That brings me to my second point. No matter the truth about how the Crown Prince felt about her she never changed her mind and only knew one thing: his love never, ever made her truly happy.

I don’t understand people who believe every single male in this novel is manipulative.

The elves act the way they do because thats what is natural to them. They always respect her and never force her to do anything she doesn’t want. Why complain about that?

In fact, the only manipulative males are the Temple's Holy Priests and the Crown Prince (he manipulated me into thinking he loved jiwoo gently and warmly)...

But, yeah.

I really recommend this novel.

-.1/10 because the smut was good but I usually just skipped it. It’s usually minimum 2.5 chapters which is pretty long.

This is an amazing book. It has angst, growth, overcoming betrayal and low self-esteem to grow into yourself. I think I really appreciated the reality of the situation in the FL overcoming her negative mindset. It doesn't upset the reader because we kind of understand or try our best because it's all explained.

Plus! The Smut! Is amazing. I hate just mindless smut. It really had context and I love the way the plot goes and the character growth and development. The smut doesn't take away from the whole story but... more>> rather compliments it. And it really grips and holds you. If you like character development, healthy amount of smut, and just amazing plot, I definitely reccomendate this one!! <<less

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review before finishing a book but within 5 chapters I was hooked. The translation is smooth and the story is engaging. I like that it seems like it will be a true reverse harem and I hope FL will give up on returning to the temple quickly.

Thank you for picking this up translator!

It's angsty and I like it that way lol.

The story can be confusing due to the *angsty past* chapters randomly inserted that disturbs the flow of the story (you'll get what I mean when you read it.). Translation is ok and understandable but also confusing at times.

I'm enjoying this story. There was a point where the author seems to have gotten fixated with the smut 😅. They eventually got it together and the story progressed. The main character has personal growth which is great but I was impressed with the character development of the crown prince; I don't come across antagonists that make you question if they are actually the bad guy. It's a good story and best of all no r**e.

Much like its manhwa translated name "A breath at the end of verdure", I gotta say this novel is a breath of fresh air. Belleresevoir does an excellent job translating as well.

The bulk of the plot and action is concentrated within the first 90ish chapters (the main story), and the rest are "side stories" but really, it just feels like the author has chosen to slice-of-life extrapolate on the fascinating world they have built. I'm on chapter 207 and itching for more.

What sets this novel apart for me is that... more>> it finally balances the p*rn WITH the plot. There's gratuitous p*rn. Like every other chapter is p*rn. And boy are the p*rn scenes long, creative, sometimes hilarious because they're so "wow yeah this is someone's kink I guess", but done well. What compels me is Jiwoo's healing after a significant and unending period of trauma; the detailed and immersive goings-on in this fantasy world; and learning more about each of the thirty husbands. As of chapter 207, we have the five main husbands that we see from the beginning of the story, and now we are introduced to

, and I'm hoping this author never stops until they cover all of them because I'm a seasoned medium-to-high fantasy girlie and this is exactly what I crave. Give me characters! Give me lore! Give me SMUT! <<less

I really enjoyed this book.

To be honest, the plot isn't very developed, there aren't many complex schemes or twists, but I had such a lovely time reading it. I adored imagining the beautiful elves living in lush nature, and watching the main character slowly fall in love with them while gently healing herself.

The atmosphere was incredibly calm and cozy, sometimes sad, sometimes deeply heartwarming. Honestly, that's why it has become one of my favorite books.

... more>> The illustrations were absolutely stunning, and I truly adored them.

The smut was also very well written, although I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of one scene

the marriage moment when she couldn't see

. But that's just a small detail.

If I had one criticism, it would be that we spent a bit too much time focusing on the Crown Prince. Personally, I couldn't really grow to like him.

Overall, I highly recommend this series if you enjoy elves, harem dynamics, and pure cuteness. Just be prepared for a lot of smut. <<less

Another web novel adapted to manhwa. The 'tragic love story' as the main plot really intrigued me. The resolution for the conflict also written beautifully, it made me cry because circumstances can really drive love apart. Pro: A true reverse harem end!

Cons:

  • The heroine. (She gradually stopped feeling wronged as time goes on tho) ugh the way she handles herself with problems is just too selfish for me. Her quest of searching true love made me think she only thinks of herself, others around her are of little significance. Esp in the main story, she didn't appreciate all the things crown prince did for her love. Although maybe his love is borderline obsession, she isn't entitled to be only receiving efforts the CP did for her, without giving the same to him.
  • Spoiler

Because he can't give a first dance + a position in court, she sleeps away with another without his consent? (Despite still in relationship). Cheating because of a broken heart is an absolute no for me. She just let the flow drives her to depravity. I can't root for her because of this reason, she only thinks about her own happiness? What about the one you ghosted?

    [collapse]
  • Also the way she's drowning in sadness at all times (before the split with CP), is just too painful. You're not the only one miserable in this story, honey. Thankfully she learns to love herself and those around her as the story progresses.

While I can say it's an awesome and worth to read story, I can't really explain the actual mood of the story. It's a bit fluffy but also a bit angsty because of the MC's former lover, the crown prince. Tho the angst ain't stressful and it really add depth to the story. Love how their 'tragic love story' balanced the heartwarming love of the elves to her. And while it has many chapters, the main story is actually pretty short and the rest are just side story, including the... more>> IF story. Love how it satisfies almost all readers with the added IF story. Yeah, it's definitely worth to read, try it. <<less
