As enemy forces invade from the south, the nation teeters amid war and chaos. A young cavalry soldier is ordered to secretly journey into the war-ravaged northern frontier, only to find himself stranded alone in an abandoned fortress halfway through the trip—where he encounters a fearsome tiger bandit blocking the road.
The moment they meet, the great tiger bandit smacks the young cavalryman unconscious and proceeds to tease and toy with him. Humiliated beyond endurance, the young soldier fights back fiercely.
“Boss, why’re you pinning that little kid down again?”
“If I don’t pin him down, how’m I supposed to keep him under control?! Look how stubborn he is! I barely exchanged a few words with him before he slashed my face with a knife!”
“You touched me!”
“What’re you getting embarrassed for? I’m not into men! Who’d want to touch you?!”
Neither of the two men—who start off beating each other into a heap the moment they meet—could ever have imagined that before long, they would become comrades bound by life and death, sleeping beside their weapons and standing together against the nation’s disaster…
Ants are silent creatures, spending their entire lives crawling meaninglessly beneath the earth. Only when driven into utter desperation do they gather together, scraping their bodies against the ground to produce the thunderous cry of desperate struggle.
That is the Cry of Ants.
