For years, Tao Ran harbored a secret crush on Zhang Zheng. After a failed confession, they spent four years apart, never seeing one another. During that time, the phrase Tao Ran heard most from Zhang Zheng was: “You can like men, but I will always be your brother.”

“But we aren’t related by blood,” Tao Ran would plead, over and over. “We could love each other.”

But even up until the moment he died of cancer, Tao Ran never received a single response from Zhang Zheng.

Then, he was reborn.

Zhang Zheng the man who had never compromised a single inch finally broke. After a desperate internal struggle, he pulled Tao Ran into a frantic, clumsy embrace, kissing him with a terrifying lack of composure.

His voice trembled as he spoke.

“Ranran, please… don’t forget me.”

“I was wrong. I was too stubborn, too slow to realize.”

“Give me another chance. This time, let me be the one to chase you, okay?”

At that moment, they had just survived a horrific car accident. A car driving the wrong way had spun out of control, slamming into them at high speed. As the driver, Tao Ran was critically injured, slipping into a coma for over a month and nearly losing his life. Zhang Zheng, sitting in the passenger seat, escaped with only minor scratches.

When Tao Ran finally woke up, he was weak and disoriented.

He feebly pushed away the “stranger” who was leaning far too close, frowning as he whispered:

“I’m sorry… I really don’t know who you are.”
