The Leopold Team, composed of A-rank Espers from Sector 4, was led by Baek Eu-jin, an 11-year veteran healer-type Esper.

That is until an accident involving his team’s Guide changed everything.

An unprecedented event occurred: both an A-rank Esper and an A-rank Guide lost their abilities. The shocking incident sent Sector 4 into chaos, but Baek Eu-jin secretly celebrated, looking forward to a peaceful retirement.

But then…

“Choi Ran’s ability came back! And it’s a healing power! The same type as yours, Captain!”

Baek Eu-jin, who had been dreaming of a carefree, unemployed life, suddenly finds himself reawakening—not as an Esper, but as a Guide. To make things stranger, his and the Guide’s abilities seem to have switched.

Although disheartened at first, Eu-jin quickly adjusts to the comforts of a desk job as a Guide—one far easier than his days as an Esper.

He might have even been able to enjoy this peaceful office life, if not for Kwon Su-ho.

* * *

“Do you really like desk jobs that much?”

“Between the steady paycheck, safe work environment, and fixed hours, I’d say there’s no comparison.”

“… Fair enough.”

The man, surprisingly, agreed without much resistance. His quick acceptance made Eu-jin uneasy, and that unease was validated when Kwon Su-ho added something unexpected.

“In that case, I just need to make your job harder.”

“What?”

Rising from his seat, Su-ho tousled his hair messily, pressing his knuckles hard against his lips. His flesh turned red and swelled slightly under the pressure.

Satisfied, Su-ho ran his thumb over his reddened lips, then tugged at the black turtleneck he wore, as if regretting his choice of attire.

“I shouldn’t have worn this. If I’d gone with a shirt, I could’ve ripped a few buttons off.”

“What are you doing?”

“Getting ready to make things difficult for you, Baek Eu-jin.”

Su-ho’s deliberately disheveled appearance gave off the impression of a man who had just been through a heated make-out session.

With clear intent, he took long strides toward the Guiding Room door, leaving Eu-jin no time to stop him.

“Wait, no! Stop!”

Despite Eu-jin’s desperate plea, the doorknob turned, and the door swung open. The noise from outside flooded in as Su-ho stepped out and looked back at Eu-jin with a sly smile.

“I really enjoyed today, Guide.”

With an unmistakably suggestive glance, Su-ho shut the door behind him.

The Guiding Room fell silent once more. Eu-jin, stunned, muttered under his breath.

“That crazy bastard.”

Just as Eu-jin feared, the rumor spread like wildfire.

This one had an interesting premise and the MC, Baek Eujin was initially cool and reliable. But after a pivotal event happened, ... more>>

when Eujin became the team guide for the Delta Team where ML, Kwon Suho, is a part of,

things went downhill from there.

The MC is an 11-year veteran Esper and a former captain of his team. He's well connected with certain people in position. In the early chapters, as he's navigating his new life as a guide, we see this in play. He's composed and competent during missions. His emotional moments at this point,

having an outburst for being relentlessly pushed to the team guide role, and someone publicly digging into his past,

still seem reasonable. He's still human, let's give him that.

But when he and ML gets increasingly entangled, it gradually became a hot mess. It felt like they mentally regressed to their late teens/early 20s state. Could this be the effect of love? They have to lose some brain cells because it just makes them crazy?

Some things that happened include:

    • Spoiler

Pretending to be lovers for because MC can't be firm enough to say no to an ex-lover

    • Spoiler

ML being jealous and angry but not taking the step to define their relationship so he can have the right to act that way

MC assumes that returning former Delta team guide likes ML, and ML fuels that flame to make MC jealous

It's like a cycle of push and pull, but the frustrating kind - - which would have probably been fine, if some factors like their age, background, and setting had been different.

I held some hope because it was interesting at the start, and despite the setbacks, Baek Eujin and Kwon Suho did have compelling chemistry.

So after chapter 85, I skipped and checked if things get better, up until 115. While there were some cute events,

like Baek Eujin meeting some former Leopold team members and getting to introduce Kwon Suho to them, like a meet the in-laws scenario,

It's something, I suppose.

I also checked just the last chapters of the main story (Chapter 141) and the side story (Side Story 20).

The ending seemed intense, and the end of the side stories paints them as

a more established imprinted couple.

So maybe it does get better? I just don't think I'm strong enough to last that long.

If messy office romance with a hot guideverse couple is your cup of tea, then by all means, give it a spin. Personally, I felt the story could have been better considering how it began. <<less

At the beginning we have the Eu-Jin who is a seasoned Esper with 11 years of experience being a leader of one of the best teams and he is known for being reliable, well connected and friendly.

On the second later you have a Eu-Jin who became a new made Guide without his usual strength (powers) and being to be the object of attraction of Esper who were his former comrade.

Eu-Ji is weak on certain aspect He let us know before awakening he was sensitive and has anxiety. But now with... more>> his guide body it not as managele like before.

It was a nice read. I was loving it until chapter 75. Then the dynamic between Eu-Jin and Su-Ho become a little toxic. Lots of miscomunitation and denial.

I wish it was less angs and more sweet moments. But either way. Still like the novel. <<less

I don't remember where I quit—before the guide joins the team but after he has a breakdown from the team harassing him.

There's just too much unbelievable angst and drama.

Like, there's no way someone with the MC's history would be allowed to work as an entry-level plebe just because he changed specialties. Even making him do Guiding Training 101 is ridiculous—you think they'd knock down a spec ops officer to air force boot camp? Get out of here! Maybe he'd shadow someone with experience or get death by power point to... more>> brush up on his facts, but he sure wouldn't be training with the noobs. Also, his bu*t would be in military jail for a while for dodging service, I don't think any military is lenient on that. Instead, this guy gets to tell them what he wants to happen—and they listen to him? What? No, why? Another thing that bothered me: the MC threatens military punishment but never follows through. At some point, these things happen regardless of any action of the victim's part (like getting your head smashed into a vending machine in the break room in front of loads of people and cameras). I guess you can argue that the place he works is really corrupt, but I think with his history and connections, he would be monitored closely, and with all the money they sunk into him as an asset and how much they seem to fall at his feet, how is this not going to be dealt with harshly? Ultimately, the scenarios were just too ridiculous, and I didn't like anybody. It became unpleasant to continue reading.

Oh, but I did find it interesting that racism was brought up because the MC has blue eyes. This is not addressed with any depth, it's just meant to be another way the MC endures suffering. Might be sensitive for some readers. <<less
