To be honest, I don't understand the attitude of our MC throughout the novel. While I know it would be unrealistic to change your mindset and world view as soon as you transmigrate, he is unnaturally rude to the ML. If he was soooo averse to ML, why even marry? He is capable and would have thrived even if he ran away. I really feel bad for the ML, making me unable to read it further. As I said, it wouldn't be realistic to change MC's attitude as soon as... more>> he transmigrate, but what is being called his 'cold' and 'aloof' nature is just plain rudeness and selfishness. When we are not expecting MC to change his attitude, us and also our MC shouldnot expect the same from our ML too. He is an ancient man with the values and worldview of that time period. MC was supposedly a businessman in his past life too, how do you succeed in business with such close mindedness ? He is also a misogynist who has very weird ideas of what and how a man should be and ML is clearly not that because ML washes MC's clothes and is kinda submissive to him and not cold and aloof like MC while also simultaneously ordering him around. How is an ancient man like ML more progressive than our modern MC ? Also the r*pe story of the side couple frankly left me with a bad taste because at the end of the day, there wasn't any need for it. Was it to add to the shock value of the story ? And making him even forgive and fall in love with his r*pist? <<less

I was going to give it 3 stars, but this random bear child suddenly appeared sticking to the MC and calling the MC father. The kid is a legitimate stranger, they have never met before, yet the kid won't take no for an answer no matter how many times it's said. I couldn't stand it so I'm dropping this here.

The most important thing to know about this novel though, is the r*pe. It starts with a r*pe where neither party consents but is drugged. Later there is a Male character... more>> (m1) who promises to marry and bear the child for the guy (m2) he likes. Then m1 takes advantage of m2 being drunk on the wedding night, drugs the guy with pregnancy medicine and r*pes him. Although the MC says he wouldn't forgive m1 if he were m2, he says m2 will probably forgive m1 in the end. I think the novel should have taken a harder stance on this. Instead it kind of is glossed over a bit. It left me feeling uncomfortable. The MC and ML, neither of them were responsible for what happened. But m2 is a total such and isn't worthy of being a teacher. <<less

This is the way to write icy shou. So fluffy. Bit angsty in the start but it gets better. Seeing their relationship develops bit by bit is very satisfying. Gong is ideal husband. Ignore the previous comment; the random kid won't be in the story for long. The r*pe and r*pe victim to lovers tags is there for a reason; dead dove don't eat.
Spoiler

Side couple does have trust issues in the beginning, with the marital r*pe by WX towards PH. They reconciled and later in the story WX changed to be the one getting knocked up, consensually this time.

Mtl on shubaow is easy to read and understand.

I like this book, I really do but my heart aches for the ML so much.

At first I was really excited because this was going to be slow burn but it turned out to be the kind of slow burn I didn't want. The MC was too cold and indifferent.

At the beginning, I was fine with it. When he threw hurtful remarks at the ml, I was fine because the ML didn't seem to mind but as the story went on, even if their relationship started to get better and... more>> better, I feel like nothing seemed to change.

The MC would order the ML around like a servant. And what even made me sadder was when the ml's entire family would fuss over MC and the child, sometimes forgetting him completely.

Spoiler

When the ml's mother said something like he only ate and slept while letting his wife wither away, the ML was shocked because out of everyone, he did the most jobs. He would run around checking their business, fuss over his wife, do chores, stay up late to take care of his child, etc. Then rinse and repeat and no one seemed to notice. The MC would be concerned for a while then order him to do something the next.

[collapse]

Not only that, but the MC would also make comments undermining the ml's masculinity just because he didn't fit the mc's standards of a 'real man'. He was from the modern world but his mindset definitely belonged to the ancient times.

I COULDN'T TAKE IT 😭😭😭

I came to the point where I was starting to question whether the ML was just too loyal or just martyr.

I kept thinking that if the roles were reversed, the readers would definitely rip the ML apart. I tried to be so understanding of the MC, hoping he'd change but I've come this far (chapter 112) and the MC is still as close minded as he was at the beginning chapters. <<less

I like this farming story. It's a little bit different than the common troupes.

The MC (shou) was a company boss before he died and transmigrated to the body of a rich man's son.

Although he accepted his fate married into a poor farmer household and got a mute husband, he took almost everything calculated, in a cool-headed way.

It took a long time for MC to open his heart to ML, especially since their union born from malicious plot.

Spoiler

MC open his heart to ML on chapter 25, it's on the 100/177 page when I mtled from sto. Cx

[collapse]

I like how MC never became feminine even after he got pregnant and gave birth. He educated ML's family not to be pushover anymore. And how he did business - he managed them, not doing the labor.

ML was a scholar from a poor farming family. He became mute after being ill and never cured until the end of the story. He was very sweet and attentive, a jack-of-all-trades kind, also a super dad. He fell in love with MC from their first union and tried his best to be useful for MC, knowing very well that he didn't deserve him. He never give up though, and after a long journey, his hard work finally paid off.

ML's family : the father was a hard worker tea farmer and the mother was a housewife, she's good at cooking.

They were honest and kind, but also a pushover until MC came.

Song family : OGMC's family, consist of a vain father and a malicious sister. Rich and arrogant on early chapter, their end was quite satisfying.

Shen family : ML's big family which was a scholar's family. Consists of grandfather, grandmother, 2nd uncle family, and 3rd uncle family. The great toxic family. ML's father was the eldest son but despised by the grandparents because he wasn't good at studying.

2nd uncle actually not that bad. He was a businessman and went away a lot. He wasn't helping his eldest brother's family when they were at their lowest but he was trying to reconcile with them.

3rd uncle and grandparents can be considered as the villains in this story.

He was a scholar managing a school at their village. He was vain, inflexible, and plain arrogant with the grandparents backing him up.

  • Overall I like this story. Some parts may feels draggy and there were some characters that were unneeded but it was good.

Song Jingwei is completely unlikable to me.

He just oozes condescension and superiority throughout the majority of what I read (up to chapter 70 of the broken translations, not exactly sure where that lands in the real chapter list).

I dropped it because, up to that point, he makes zero effort to understand what the people around him are like and is only thinking of running away. He thinks that leaving the people who are exceptionally kind to him with money after he runs away is doing the right thing, but he... more>> doesn't care about the emotional ties and relationships he has developed. Worst of all, he either wants to abandon the baby he's pregnant with or he wants to run away with the baby, it's unclear to me at this point. Which... while running away with the child is worse because of how much the family loves the idea of a baby, both options strike me as incredibly selfish.

I appreciate that he doesn't accept that he's a man who can give birth, and that he's not comfortable with the idea of a romantic relationship with a man when he previously believed he was straight. It was a nice change of pace that he wasn't quickly comfortable with either situation, which I think is more realistic for someone who's forced to live in a heteronormative way, believing they can't be gay. But... He's just not likable as a person even if the way he rationalizes his situation is more realistic than most.

Because he's so cold, detached, selfish, and condescending, I came to hate him. He doesn't change, at least not up to that point. And I can't see him changing. <<less

This novel is not bad, very simple. The personalities and development of the MC and ML was also interestingly flipped. You know, usually you have a cruel, overbearing ML and a softhearted, optimistic MC. Here, it's the exact opposite LOLOL. I ended up not finishing it because I took a break to sleep and then lost interest after waking up. I may have continued if I didn't fall asleep, but I can't be sure~

_________

SUMMARY: The MC of this novel is a workaholic that had died of illness in his... more>> first life. Upon waking up in this new life, he discovers that he had transmigrated into the body of Song Jingwei, the son of a wealthy family. Here, the world is a bit strange, I don't understand it much myself because of the MTL quality. But let's just say that gender differences have been a bit blurred. As a male, Song Jingwei has the right to legitimately inherit the family wealth, however, he's not a legitimate child. The only legitimate child in their family is female. And this girl hates Song Jingwei to death — to the point of wanting to ruin his virtue and forcing him to drink the magical river water that can allow men to give birth to children. The novel starts right when this overbearing female villain starts the plan in motion, and affected by aphrodisiac, the MC and ML are forced to go through with it, tying themselves up together.

As for the ML, his name is Shen Junxi. He was once a promising scholar, but because of an illness, he lost his ability to speak. In contrast to the MC, who is cold and indifferent, he's warm and optimistic. The romance between them is terribly unequal, since the MC enters the family as a daughter-in-law with a lot of wealth. He also doesn't intend to take his relationship with the ML seriously, which he tells to the hopeful ML outright. Prompting a slow and somewhat bittersweet romance — which I currently have no idea as to how it ends. <<less

I liked the story, the MC transmigrates into a world where men can give birth and into the past. He’s cold but he looks for a way forward. I think the relationship development is nice and more realistic. The only issue I have is with the side couple (there’s r*pe) and how it’s treated.
