After meeting the ML, he tried to get on his good side while planning his escape, which was to be introduced to society and marry. The MC thought that marriage would prevent him from being punished by the ML for living as a fake heir for 20yrs and would give his mother, who lied about her son's father, a way out as well. However, getting on the ML's good side was obviously pretty hard because he was very vocal about his hate for the MC. So to soften the ML, the MC would cry, show his submissive side and cling to the ML calling him "hyung". The MC actually thought his plan was working because the ML took him on a trip to meet the Crown Prince, a potential match. But on the day of the meeting, the ML abandoned the MC, which was actually very dangerous for a beta without a "brand". With no brand, or alpha pheromones signifying he was protected, the MC was kidnapped in front of a crowd & almost gang r*ped. After the incident, the MC learned he couldn't trust the gentle smile or sweet words of the ML, which honestly, he really shouldn't have needed this incident to happen to NOT trust the ML. The ML was responsible for a number of deaths in his past life, so I didn't understand the MC's forgetfulness or naivety. However this distrust in the ML didn't last long because as soon as the ML would do something nice again, while the MC would be initially suspicious, he would still give the ML another chance. Considering how traumatic the almost assault was I don't think his reaction or lack thereof made any sense. The MC just kept excusing the ML's actions because he felt guilty for living as his brother despite not being blood related. The need to accept the ML's poor treatment or pay the ML back made zero sense because remember, the MC had been reborn. He's already given up His life for something he had no control over, but apparently any ill will he had faded and he was ready to do it again. Which again made no sense because the whole point of being reborn was to one, live and two, leave his father's (the Duke) estate and live without a sword over his head.

He just asked his mother if they could take a trip together, which could've been done in the very beginning, but I guess then there wouldn't be a story.
