Don't be. All the ambiguous behavior occurs on Jae-yi's side with Seo-jin trying his damndest to not cross a line. He succeeds, but I really started to dislike Jae-yi's intimate behavior with someone else when he has a fiance. Jae-yi even gets jealous of other people getting close to Seo-jin. The final plus is that Jae-yi does break things off with his fiance before getting truly intimate with Seo-jin

There's quite a bit of angst with the "will-they-won't-they" tug of war at first, but it wasn't bad.

Also, for future reference to other people out there, don't use the term "homewrecker." It takes two to tango, and the party that should be more at fault in this situation is the one already in a relationship. <<less

Okay, I enjoyed this: I like the writing, plot, characters somewhat, etc. The bromance was clear here that was endearing for until it lasted

the vibes gives movie scenes, that really immediately had me interested. The writing in a way is straightforward while giving details a story would, I love writing like that and this was exactly that. For a romance story it was interesting and not a drag that it goes into the whole pilot day-to-day stuff. It was also not exhausting to take it in all the sudden characters... more>> because it was short and simple. That part feels very unique to me personally.

the other review mentions how MC gives home wrecker vibes. My opinion on that is he doesn't, but he's immature. Author writes him as someone professional and levelheaded, but more than a few chapters or before a timeskip MC is saying something the opposite of that. It got frustrating honestly but was he a home wrecker?? No he's heartbroken and really liked his friend while trying to convince himself he's this well disciplined man which yes he may be externally but clearly not internally, what's frustrating about this is I'd rather have be written to know that but no, what's as bad as a guy who know he's tr*sh? Is a guy who thinks he's not but is. MC is not tr*sh though, just an example. Other characters like ML, his fiancé I like how they were written. I like how the drama was resolved between the three, I'm glad the writing didnt change even then. Apart from how MC becomes with ML he is a professional-sensible feel character with how he interacts with everyone else.

anyway I did enjoy this. I think the writing was what stuck out most. A movie-jorunal like style. <<less

I do enjoy this novel to an extent.

It's a bit early to give it a rating but I feel this does capture what a unrequited love feels like, realistically.

I do feel slightly unsettled however at Seo-jin's inner thoughts...

  • Knowing your friend is to be married, and yet the unspoken things he ruminates about is really something else.
It does feel uncomfortable at times, knowing the circumstances.

Seo-jin gives homewrecker vibes.

It's an interesting read. Interesting characters, especially the MC. I liked how he transformed, his growth and character's development nicely played out. Like a reviewer said, using the word homewrecker to describe MC is disgusting and unbefitting. Man even relocated to another continent after realising his feelings fgs. He still placed multiple boundaries in place. ML was even the one who came to meet him.

I like the intensity of their relationship. Although, how it all folded out could be termed complicated and conflicting, I can't particularly fault one person.

Probably ML but his obliviousness was his fault. It's just adulting things, doesn't have to be pleasant all time. I kinda feel bad for his ex even though she knew what was going to happen and I didn't understand their relationship much; it was out of place. But taking ML as someone who risks things and was quite lonely at that time, maybe it is quite understandable.

Their big fight was intense too, lol. I could understand both sides too.

Anyways, it was a nice read. Although, ML's pov was kinda boring than I expected it too, I skipped most of the last volume.

Ups to the translator too, it was an excellent translation 🙌

Spring of Romance is an excellent translator, and I've been enjoying this story so much more because of their skill. (I read it using Google translate from Ridibooks, but Google translate is clumsy, and it is sometimes unclear.). This translation is really great. I think the original author would be pleased! (Shhhh....I'll never tell!)

I'm really looking forward to the side stories--The last sentences on the last page of the last book are some of my favorites of anything I have ever read. Not just BL, not just Korean lit,... more>> but EVER. <<less

I read this on a whim, it was honestly worth it. The comments will say it drags on the novel website. It’s a slice of life BL meaning you’re living with these characters in their day to day, week to week, month to month. And you’re absorbing all the emotions these characters go through and the life events. Like Both got problems but if you really sit and think it’s really an eye opening book cause of the layers. Like the humor alone will keep you and if you’re an... more>> angsty mf like me :D that means you already know to sit back and relax cause it’s a long ride. I appreciated the complexity of the emotions of both main characters and coming together. I think however the explanation of how they came to find out they loved each other and have been attracted to each other could have been better developed. I think it felt a little like and off to on switch. Perhaps had we had the MLs POV described a little more in terms of angst and what he found attractive etc it would have been helpful. I wish instead of the ML POV at the end... more>> it would have been throughout the story. Overall though this was a good read and I appreciated the international aspect. <<less

... more>> A brilliant danmei. One of the best things is its internationalism. It celebrates several countries. This is the first international slice-of-life I've read. MC, ML are in their 30s.

It would have been great if there was more French, German, Chinese words (and English translation) to showcase how international MC, ML and their circle is.

The happy ending is around c50. The more realistic ending is c102.

I'm so happy this is finally completely translated, thank you so much to the translators I was eaiting for a long time and it was worth the wait

I just love their love, if you like angst and novels that actually make you feel something while reading them then read this !

It was intense and realistic at the same time.

I cried a few times while reading it.

I would have liked it more if the ML relationship with Gisela was explained more in depth because.. I dont know I mean, if he even considered marrying her, I would have liked to know why.. Did he actually love her but no so deeply? Or was he confused?, I dont know I think that part was very undetailed and to me it felt like something was missing ?

nop MC isn't a homewrecker at least not in my opinion, because even Gisela knew about the feelings between the MC's, she knew it before they realized them, but she still decided to give it a go with ml.

So she was kinda of aware of what she was walking into.

So yeah Gisela was more of a homewrecker to me. It was not completelyher faulttho since ML gave it a try with her 😒

This novel truly captivated me (and it's a HE).

Told from the MC's perspective, the story follows someone who comes to realise they've fallen in love with their best friend of 15 years, just as their friend announces his engagement. The narrative explores the complex emotions and deep history between the MC and ML, unfolding slowly with carefully crafted time jumps and moments of reflection. The chemistry between the characters is electric, and the intimate scenes are steamy, detailed and are driven by the plot. The relationship's ups and downs, as... more>> well as the MC's journey feel incredibly raw and real.

One of the things I particularly enjoyed was the author's portrayal of the daily life of a pilot and the aviation industry. The fact that both MC and ML are of Korean and German descent adds a unique depth to the characters, and the author's understanding of different cultures and settings really brings the story to life. Events unfold across various locations (Korea, Germany, France, Italy, Singapore, Japan, the US,...) and the attention to detail in each setting is spot on, adding authenticity to the narrative and making it all the more immersive.

The pacing is deliberately slow, which allows the tension and emotions to build as the characters' relationship evolves. The story doesn't rush, and each moment is given room to breathe (the main development begins at around ch40). I especially enjoyed the portrayal of one-sided love - it made my heart itch, and I think I cried a few times. There's also a philosophical element to the work, reflecting on relationships, love, depths of connections and priorities in life.

There are some spoilers but as this is a slice of life, it's nothing major.

I'm about 3/4 through the book & started thinking about the reviews I'd read & kinda felt alienated from both sides of what I saw. Several reviewers spoke on the "homewrecker" reviewer, & remembering that convo made me think about how one of the more annoying things about the ML was how he was angry w/ the MC for not being a homewrevker lol. That he didn't react to his engagement by confessing his feelings... more>> & even was angry at the MC for having pride. Like he was suposed to suddenly confess to his seemingly straight bestie right after he tells him he got engaged?! Lol. &Amp; that's kind of an inflection point for what annoys me about this novel, the ML. I saw ppl talking about how this is an adult love story, which it is, but the ML can kinda be a b*tch. Why was it up to the MC to apologize for not confessing to an engaged "straight" man? I'll also add that I find that even more unreasonable bc the MC was rather shocked by his feelings. Not only did he realize he loved his best friend but suddenly a s*xual awakening as he'd always thought of himself as straight. The more I think about it it just feels more unrealistic to expect him to suddenly confess. Him running away makes perfect sense. All the issues they had were bc of choices the ML made, but yet he kept getting angry at the MC for his "pride". Also His unhappiness at one of the few jobs he could get in Korea was bc he didn't think & moved there with little planning. Like I could tolerate his childishness if the MC called it out more. It feels like the author wanted to portray a couple equally flawed having difficulties, & while the MC isn't perfect, he's not the one at fault the majority of the time.

The most understandable part was the ML's guilt after his father dies suddenly. I can see how that fight bc his father didn't accept the relationship, saying harsh words, then his dad having a fatal accident, could totally fck the ML up. Guilt is a hell of a thing & can twist ppl up till their thinking becomes wrong. But still his reaction was all him & his issues. He insisted on pushing the MC to confess. To start this relationship right after the broken engagement. Even him realizing his feelings wasn't bc of what the MC did, it was his frustrated fiancé who could see his true feelings more than he himself. Like I'm just at the point the ML realizes he can't live without the MC & I hope to hell he really apologies, but I have the feeling the author won't let him bc so far they seem to feel the need to make the two equal is their "wrongness". I mean the MC really pushed himself to be more proactive but got a lot of almost indifference from the ML bc he was struggling with guilt and frustration. Again, None of which was the MC's fault. So for the positive, the novel is interesting most of the time, & even the parts about planes & being a pilot are interesting, but I keep getting annoyed by the ML & portraying that the MC equally wrong when issues arise. (Especially bc most of those issues arose bc of how badly the ML handled sht.) Maybe more so bc the MC's the one who always had to do the most changing.

Like even being confessed to by the copilot while the ML was engaged, & the ML getting angry later when he finds out about it (tho the MC nipped it in the bud real quick, like I swear I think the MC is autistic the way he deals with other ppl's emotions, except the ML's) is kinda triggering my frustration. Especially bc the MC wasn't hiding it, it was just so unimportant to him it never occurred to him to mention it.

I'll def finish this but gd I just wish the author hadn't tried make things so equal if she they going to write such an emotionally immature ML. It didn't have to be some long suffering MC trope, but that's kind of what they wrote, but without the catharsis of him telling the ML to get his sht together, & to stop blaming him bc the ML fcked up & made a bunch of rash decisions in his desire to fix it & to be with the MC.

so closing in on the end of the novel the ML is sufficiently doting on the MC which soothes my irritation. I guess it's hard for me bc I've been in a relationship where my bf was the one consistently in the wrong, but somehow he always twisted it to be at least partially my fault. It was miserable. I know that kind of thing starts to make you stop trusting the other person. You stop trusting them to not cause you pain. With the erosion of trust, slowly your relationship starts to erode as well. &Amp; to get back that trust it requires a lot of effort & work. It's not an instantaneous thing bc the loss of trust wasn't instant. I guess I just feel alienated from that aspect of the story bc I don't understand how the MC can't have some resentments. It's almost like he was so gaslighted into thinking he shared half the guilt that he's willing to take the blame. It makes him look weaker, as though so desperate for the ML's love that he was willing to believe he was as much at fault as the ML. Which in some ways is incongruous with the character that was written. Tho if the author has brought it up in relation to his childhood & talked about it, it could have made sense. But that would have required the author to portray the MC as more pitiful than she seems to have wanted to. Anyways I'm saying the same thing, it's just something that keeps bringing me out of the story bc it doesn't make sense to me. Still a decent and engaging read.

After completion I'd prob give this a 3.5. The ML gets his sht together & we see things that occurred through his eyes (he's super immature but I can also empathize with his confusion, but stilll shifting blame, inexcusable & I wish there been more of an apology.)

I can see why they both love each other bc they are both interesting ppl. Neither are cookie cutter tropes which is unfortunately the usual in Asian BL romance. I'm glad the ML wasn't the cold CEO, the younger puppy dog lover, or the psychotic sociopath. The MC wasn't weak, or strong but tsundere. He's just a meticulous guy whose passionate about only a handful of things: which matches well with the free spirited & seemingly interested in everything, ML. They compliment each other well. The ML seems like he'd be awesome to be around but I also think his personality could get old fast if you were in a relationship with him, if he couldn't grow up a bit. Fortunately he did.
The flow of the story is good & unlike a lot of "only gay for you" tropes, it's believable. I think it's only possible if a person is somewhat bis*xual but bc of societal reasons never explored that aspect of their sexuality, bc they didn't need to. As in it would open up pressures & you're fine with women, so why cause extra issues if you don't have to? To me that's the best way to make this kind of storyline feel realistic.

Also for an Asian romance the s*x scenes are good. My only issues is in the way they're written as in the words and phrasing. Maybe it's the tl but sometimes they feel a bit off. Like saying c0ck over and over & using phrases like "the c0ck" as tho it's a seperate being from the ML. But on the other hand it doesn't do the thing I fcking hate, where the scene is the dominant top being totally in control and almost seemingly unaffected, all while the MC is drooling & sht. Like come on, that feels so idk hentai coded. I personally find that unattractive. I guess I'm picky about s*x scenes and would rather there are none then a shitly written one, or written in what I see as p0rn coded.
So def worth a read & if it wasn't for the bullsht about blaming the MC for his own issues & shortcomings, I'd def give a solid 4.5 stars. <<less
