Lin Wantang knew her Omega wife, Wen Zhiqing, despised her.

In Wen Zhiqing’s eyes, she was a lowly actress who had used their 100% pheromone compatibility to force her into marriage, leveraging a past favor.

Staring at Wen Zhiqing’s noble and aloof face, Lin Wantang thought that if she just offered her true heart, her wife would eventually love her, even just a little.

Day after day, Lin Wantang cared for Wen Zhiqing. She even took her wife’s place as a hostage when Wen Zhiqing was kidnapped.

During Wen Zhiqing’s Heat, she drove away other predatory Alphas, soothed the delicate Omega, and then tended to her own wounds alone.

When Wen Zhiqing was happily chatting with her White Moonlight after her return, Lin Wantang quietly withdrew, only to smile and prepare hangover soup after her wife came home.

But all she earned in return was Wen Zhiqing’s growing loathing.

An Omega only touches an Alpha during their Heat, clinging to the Alpha’s neck as they sink into a sea of desire. In the throes of passion, the two become intimately intertwined, their pheromones entangling and filling the entire room.

Upon waking, the Omega pulled her clothes tighter, concealing the red marks on her collarbone. A mocking curve formed at the corner of her eye. “Just a tool, Lin Wantang. Do you really think you’re worthy of me?”

The Alpha chuckled self-mockingly. Her Omega was the youngest business magnate, while she was merely a third-tier actress. She was indeed unworthy.

More importantly, she was terminally ill and didn’t have long to live. She could no longer care for her Omega as she had before.

When Wen Zhiqing coldly announced her intention to divorce again, Lin Wantang smiled calmly. Before the other woman’s disbelieving eyes, she produced the divorce agreement.

To her, Wen Zhiqing had always been a distant, luminous moon. No matter how hard a clown tried, they could never reach the moon. Now, she was letting go.

Lin Wantang performed one last act for her Omega: she left all the pheromones extracted from her surgery for the Omega to use during her Heat, then packed her meager belongings and moved out.

Loving Wen Zhiqing had become too painful. She chose to set them both free.

Wen Zhiqing loathed that calculating Alpha.

She despised the gentle look in Lin Wantang’s eyes, loathed her feigned tenderness during Heat.

Only when their bitter words left the Alpha pale and sickly would Wen Zhiqing feel a twisted sense of satisfaction.

She had prepared herself to hate Lin Wantang yet be forever bound to her.

But later, she frantically searched for Lin Wantang’s whereabouts, almost madly sniffing at the fading scent of her Alpha’s pheromones.

When she finally found Lin Wantang again, her partner lay weakly in a hospital bed, paler than the sheets, her eyes distant and devoid of will.

Wen Zhiqing tightly embraced her frail Alpha, her voice trembling. “I’ll mobilize the best medical resources to heal you. I’m your Omega, and we’ll be together forever.”

Lin Wantang responded with a bitter smile. “But I don’t deserve it.”

Wen Zhiqing had once believed Lin Wantang to be the vilest person on earth, a clown who foolishly tried to grasp the moon. But by the time she realized it was all her prejudice, it was too late. Her Alpha’s eyes no longer held any trace of her.

On a bright, sun-drenched day, Lin Wantang stepped out of her courtyard.

The moon silently followed, close enough to touch, yearning to shine solely on her beloved. But the former clown, now draped in the dawn’s glow and a celebrated Film Queen, laughed and chatted with others amidst clinking glasses, no longer willing to glance back at her.
