Wen Chenxu has hidden her true identity as a woman since she was a child. Galloping across the battlefield and achieving countless military merits, she is the young general envied by everyone in the imperial court.

She had already made up her mind to live a solitary life until the end, but unexpectedly, the Emperor bestowed upon her a marriage to the least favored princess as a reward.

Rumor has it that the Princess is as beautiful as a flower, gentle in nature, sensible, and completely devoid of any royal temper. Everyone in the imperial court envied Wen Chenxu, saying that if a princess were to marry into a subject’s home, the subject’s family would be blessed by their ancestors.

However, Wen Chenxu could not bring herself to be happy. If the Princess were to marry into her home, would her identity as a woman not be exposed? That would be a crime against the Emperor, punishable by the annihilation of nine generations of her kin!

Unable to disobey the royal decree and even more so to protect the Princess, Wen Chenxu accepted the imperial edict and married the Princess.

After their marriage, she exercised self-restraint and adhered to propriety every day, fulfilling her duties as a subject and maintaining a distance to avoid offending the Princess.

When the Princess slept on the bed, she slept on the floor: “There is a distinction between a ruler and a subject; how could I share a bed with you?” I must not let her discover that I am a woman.

When the Princess rode in a palanquin, she rode a horse: “The Princess is of noble birth; I cannot ruin the protocols of hierarchy.” This way, I can avoid intimacy.

Half a year later, rumors spread throughout the capital that this young general was impotent; otherwise, it would have been impossible for them not to have a child after half a year of marriage.

These rumors reached the ears of the Emperor, who was furious, believing that Wen Chenxu was defying the royal family.

To save her husband, the Princess had no choice but to deceive the Emperor: “Father, my husband must not be killed. The rumors in the capital are not to be trusted, I am already carrying his child!”

Wen Chenxu: Could it be that she has cheated on me?

The Princess took her back home, feeling bewildered and lost, and blushed as she said: “Husband, in order to save your life, let’s hurry up and make a child”

Wen Chenxu felt she could no longer hide the truth from the Princess: “Princess, in fact, I am a woman. I am very sorry for deceiving you. If you wish to divorce, I will write the divorce papers right now.”

The divorce papers, on which Wen Chenxu had only written two characters, were snatched away by the Princess and torn to shreds on the spot: “You are a woman? Then that is even better. If you want a divorce, wait until the next life.”

One-sentence summary: Love after marriage.

Theme: One must be brave enough to fight against fate; do not believe in fate, believe in yourself.
