Bai Xiaogu is a white bone that has become a spirit. One day, he discovers an extraordinary book titled “Those Years We Passionately Adored Tianyu Mountain’s Chief Qin Jiuqing.” After studying day and night, this simple bone spirit learns three profound truths:

First, spirits must cultivate to achieve greatness.

Second, dual cultivation is the fastest path forward.

Third, and most importantly, one needs the perfect partner with exceptional qualities – a supreme physique, powerful spiritual roots, eternal talent, boundless potential, and devastating good looks.

And as fate would have it, a certain Sword Sect Chief matches every single requirement.

The first step to dual cultivation is falling in love. So Bai Xiaogu clenches his bony fingers and declares: This bone wants to fall in love with Qin Jiuqing!

So the question is, how can this little bone spirit, who has finally managed to disguise himself as human and lurk in the cultivation world, attract the attention of the Sword Sect’s chief?

Qin Jiuqing, the youngest Sword Sect chief in the cultivation world, is the object of worship for countless cultivators. He is talented, good-looking, and his temperament is the epitome of coldness in the cultivation world – ice-type cultivators have expressed their fear of getting too close for fear of the cold.

Such an unattainable and flawless chief has but one tiny flaw.

“What? You’re saying Qin Jiuqing is poor?”

Are you kidding? Everyone knows Chief Qin’s cave is filled with glittering gold and treasures from heaven and earth, each harder than the last…

Well, if liking hard things counts as a flaw… then yes, Chief Qin does have one minor flaw.

He likes hard bones.

Literally hard bones.

The harder the better, and his favorites are the coldest white bones that have absorbed the essence of ghosts.

Bai Xiaogu: “???”

Qin Jiuqing: smiles faintly “That’s right, it’s you.”

One-sentence Summary: What’s wrong with white bones? White bones also want to fall in love~

Theme: The protagonist strives to carve out an alternative path of warmth in a world where the weak are preyed upon by the strong.

Author’s Note: The writing is humorous and witty, offering a non-human perspective on the world and experiencing the beauty of human emotions from a purer viewpoint. The narrative is heartwarming and sweet, with the two protagonists supporting each other and growing together. The plot is filled with ups and downs, telling a tale about time, space, and self in a fantastical world.

Xiao baigu is a very cute and hilarious novel that follows a bone/skeleton spirit who has a huge misunderstanding of the cultivation world. His main purpose is to become a human and feast on food, but thanks to a s*x manual he misunderstood that humans has to dual cultivate (have sex) before eating. Due to this divine manual, his communication habits are skewed to being super le*d out of context and comedic so there's a lot of humourous misunderstandings that happened throughout his journey of becoming human.

As per most Longqi... more>> works, this is pretty light hearted and easy going to read. I've tried reading it years back on MTL but Longqi's works are hard to read in direct translations, so thank you for picking this up. I'll wait for the translated chapters since mtl is quite confusing for this. <<less

Very cute but then the plots twist the last 40 chapters is something I am not fond of though. It's HE but these type of stories make me feel empty when I am done. Story just would of been nice without the plot twist of several thousand year... would of been more happy if it just ended with parents and kids together after getting the body.

they relived their lives in an illusion/partially real but go through pretty much many lifetimes. I just dont like those type of stories that go through several lifetimes reliving a similar events. Then still getting separated then do again. It just not my cup of tea.

I still do recommend the novel bc little bones is super cute. <<less

ITS AMAZING, I LOVE THE CHARACTER DEPTH AND HOW MUCH THEY CHANGE BUT STILL STAY TRUE TO THEMSELVES.

Ngl, the plot twist was something you can see a mile away, due to the fact that the author has actually set up for it. You could always feel something wasn't quite right, and the author delivered it perfectly.

And the extras are just *chef's kiss* it really tied in the whole story together. I was expecting a short fluffy comedy, and it came out just like that, and more. Love the characters, love... more>> Xiaogu, and love Jiuqing.

A definite read. <<less

This is by far the best xianxia story I've read, I mean most of the time I can't finished them.

But this story just feels different. It has so much depths in it that you didn't even realized it would have.

I didn't signed up for this. I didn't expected the ending, the plot and its twist. It has just an unexpected twist but a deserving ending. I just wished it would have extra chapters of it.

I do not really want to write something that would devoid you as a new reader... more>> of this novel the enjoyment of reading it for the first time. Without any spoiler, but with the feeling of just simply yearning for the next chapter cause you can look forward for its every chapters as you go on.

All I can say is that, it's a deserving ending for our couple🥹 read it. It's so worth it. <<less

The first part of the story was very funny and adorable!!

The second part was both funny and heart wrenching 😭

Even tho it's HE, I still feel very very sad and heartbroken because of what little bone went through huhuhu

ML is really a big idiot ... more>>
Spoiler

i know he lied about his death to MC because he wants MC to live but it doesn't change the fact that he abandoned MC. When he left, MC was suffering all alone - wasn't that almost the same as being dead? I just think that what ML did was very foolish, such a big fool huhuhu

Even the 100 year training for MC - it just made both of them suffer!!!

I feel like instead of going through all that enduring and suffering- why not spend the remaining 100 years together, making the most put of it and dying together?

Way better than giving MC false hope and leaving MC all alone huhuhu

[collapse]

The extras are nice. But for me, the MC and ML in the extras might be MC/ML's reincarnation but they aren't truly my little bone and his beloved.

After all, they now live in a completely different world and experienced a completely different life which caused them to have slightly different personalities and experiences.

So despite this story being "HE" - I can't help but feel sad, can't help but feel heartbroken for little bone, can't help but think about all the pain he went through. It's just so bittersweet huhuhu

I know it's ridiculous but I couldn't even finish the extras because I remember little bone (the one from the cultivation world) and I feel so heartbroken huhuhu

Just me ranting, no need to read
Spoiler

i read stories to except the loneliness of my reality. That's why I go for comedy and avoid tragedy or drama novels. The first part of this novel was really good - little bone was so adorable and I was rooting for him to get a body and live a happy life with ML and their parents. Even tho MC's uniqueness and possible background was already being hinted, I just wish he'll live a good life.

Then, the second part of the story came. Its also funny but at the same time realky heartbreaking because I know they won't end well. A part of me wanted to stop reading already but another part of me became attached to little bone already and wants to know how it ends

i know it's just a story and I know it's s*upid of me to feel this way but I just feel really really heartbroken for little bone. It seems like their story ended as a happy ending

but I feel like it didn't. I feel like when the world recreated, my little bone got erased

i know he reincarnated but he's not little bone anymore

i just feel so heartbroken that im crying right now and even I feel it's ridiculous haha

a part of me wish I never read this story so I won't feel this way. Another part of me is happy that I got to meet little bone

waaaaaaaa

Not rating, just noting why I've decided to drop this.

I was expecting a more intelligent and nuanced characterisation and writing style from the author of Glory. That's not what I found in this story - and, to be fair, it's not really what this story is trying to be.

First of all, the MC is that type of cute and naive that is played up for comedy. He is a sweet and cute character, he has potential to mature, but there's no sign of it yet so it will be a... more>> very slow process. In the meantime, I'm not finding the comedy of him being naive very interesting, even though he's likeable. Additionally, a lot of the humour also comes from his innocent obsession with eating and dual cultivation, which prompts endless double entendre and innocently inappropriate comments etc. A lot of people will find this funny, but it's the easiest type of humour to create and so I lost interest in humour like this literally decades ago. It's not interesting to me personally. (And that's not the only type of humour I find a bit old and repetitive, for instance the demon sword's comments.)

I'm also finding the writing style and world-building a bit cumbersome and basic. There are a lot of mini info-dumps that slow things down (for instance, at one point they come across a group of cultivators and the author pauses the conversation and action to list each of the cultivators' names, their cultivation level and their cultivation speciality, which was not only extremely tedious to read, was just impossible for me to remember most of anyway; we simply could have had that info given about each individual separately when they spoke or did something... and most of them ended up not doing anything significant, so we didn't need to know anyway). Additionally, so far the world-building feels quite basic and limited. I don't yet have a real sense of there being a vast expansive world because it's written as if everything revolves around a few key places and people.

Finally, there have already been so many times when the ML could have just explained things but instead is either taciturn for no reasons other than plot/humour and so leaves the MC with misunderstandings, or decides the MC is too naive and simply deceives him instead. Even though from the reader's perspective we know he is being sincerely caring, things like that irk me rather than amuse me.

Ultimately, this is just a mismatch for my taste. The MC has charm if you like sweet and silly MCs. The ML seems like he'll be devoted. There is originality in the character settings for them both and there's potential for them to develop a more equal and really sweet relationship with proper understanding.

For now, though, I'm finding the plot a bit slow, the humour a bit repetitive, and I don't have the patience to persist in the hope the story will move on from this later. <<less

This was so funny to read. The MC's head was filled with yellow things that he could barely understand and the ML the whole time had to listen to the MC spout yellow nonsense. I enjoyed the background and side characters as they were fleshed out well and it all fit together well in the end with all the puzzle pieces coming together.

This must be the only time I've been stabbed by a fluff story to the point of tears :') At its core, it is indeed a feel-good story with one of the cutest and fluffiest MCs I've ever read. The first half had me either laughing or punching pillows to ease my cuteness aggression... then came the last arc. It was like stepping into a completely different world! First, Bai Xiaogu's character development during those parts was immaculate (and equally heartbreaking). Second, the number of lines I had to stop... more>> and re-read because of their beauty—whether from their brilliance or heartaching pain—psh, I lost count!

I sincerely recommend this to anyone who enjoys xianxia; I guarantee you'll have an amazing time. I'm giving it 5 stars to help boost its rating a bit, but in all honesty, I'd rate it a solid 4.3-4.4.

Ahem, now comes my personal "rant" part, eheh... This is totally subjective, so take it as you will.

Spoiler

Honestly, I didn't expect to like this novel to this extent, to the point of being borderline mad at the author because of how much more grand this story could have been! I get that its essence is feel-good fluff with a nice dose of angst, but... BUT—I think this could've easily been a god-tier xianxia that people devour fervently.

First, some of the Chiti fruit chase parts was unnecessarily long. Yes, it was filled with cute MC moments, and ML's domestic life but I don't think it add meaningful progression to the overall story. Second, the parts that needed more depth (like the MC's tribulation years, his alone cultivation parts and most importantly, where is his origin comin from) were rushed through. Third, the technical details (illusions, time-space mechanics, divine cultivation) were either glossed over or unclear. I constantly re-read illusion sections trying to make sense of them. While I don't expect perfect logic in xianxia, more robust world-building would've been wonderful; it felt too abstract for my taste.

Lastly, while I generally enjoyed the author's writing style and pacing, some scene transitions were jarring and events sometimes accelerated illogically. Especially near the end, most of their intimate scenes were like: One moment they are talking and the next ML jumping his bones. While not enough to make me disconnect from the story completely, these moments did mar the experience somewhat.

[collapse]

So yeah, all in all, I think it's an amazing story. Not the best xianxia out there, with plenty of aspects that could be improved—but nonetheless a great novel to warm your heart with its cuteness. <<less

Very devoted MC and ML. Kind of innocent/dumb MC but the way it was written for comedy, humor, made the MC much more likeable for me. <<less
