This novel contains profanity, explicit content, vulgarity, and a good amount of raunchiness. This is not for readers looking for "wholesome, fluffy" romance. Know what you're getting into.

WARNINGS/TRIGGERS

PLEASE READ

Spoiler

THERE IS SA, PHYSICAL ASSAULT AND SCENES THAT MIGHT BE UNCOMFORTABLE FOR READERS (e.g MC mentioning his job, licking customers' privates, sleeping with them, ML mentions of banging women.)

MY THOUGHTS + CHARACTERS

Spoiler

I could feel the regret in these characters, their emotions and motives, even though I, the reader, am not in the same mud as them. The MC is a fantastic character, and just 9 chapters in, there's already so much to say. I could feel his hatred and regrets, even when he claimed that he shouldn't regret, that he got into the mess himself. That was a lie he told himself. He did regret his past, his decisions.

The moment that really wrenched my heart was when he berated himself for not even knowing his own hometown, the place where his roots were. He played around, but deep down, he wanted a normal life like everyone else. But he was never "normal." Born from a gigolo, not raised like one, but ended up acting like one. Every time he said, "I'm tired, " even if it was in a different context, makes him feel really suicidal.

The ML is also a great character, and I appreciate that the author gave depth to both of them. You might hate the ML, but honestly, I couldn't bring myself to. Yes, the ML assaulted the MC and kept getting entangled with him. His actions shouldn't be tolerated, but the MC tolerated them. He needed money, sold his body for a dream.

The ML is a playboy (or at least has that reputation). He's vulgar. When the MC got beat up so badly he needed facial surgery, the ML didn't apologize. He never apologized to anyone, so why would he? To a host? In his club? I didn't understand it, but it was a matter of pride. A kind of pride I don't have. However, he did try to apologize in his own ways, money. By bringing MC shopping, go drinking with women, getting him plastic surgery and so on. I really hope that the author does his character development good.

He has mental issues, both of them do, actually. The ML didn't know how to love. He was born from lust or that's what I believed. ML is a raw character, he is lustful, aggressive but.. He's gentle, albeit trying for MC

DEVELOPMENT

Spoiler

The development is not too fast, not too slow but just enough in a span of 11 chapters. MC didn't immediately become infatuated without doubts, ML learnt to pamper MC.

You can see their development, from being just a s*x toy to something more :))

"We ate heartily and drank. I grabbed the mic, sang, and he smoked, watching me with delight.

Barefoot in this fancy room I loved, I sang, danced, drank."

PACING

Spoiler

Great pacing, reading the chapters never felt like a chore.

[collapse]

However, all cute things must come with horror, the novel is not afraid of making the ML horrible, cruel and dangerous. I really mean it, I had to drop the novel because I couldn't bare the ml, he was truly frightening and I couldn't stand the more sufferings MC has to endure. <<less

The main pair are so toxic for each other that it actually works better than I thought. Truly a match made in hell.

That being said, I loved it as horrifying as it was reading it. I gotta hand it to the author, they really didn't hold back with how much of actual true s*um the ML is, being a crime boss and all. Usually, they either never go in depth of what gangster bosses do or they're portrayed almost in a good light/everything is vague and doesn't seem bad. But... more>> oh no, not this novel. Just when you think it can't possibly get any worse, it does! They really nail it in you that the ML is genuine evil LMAO. Never forget this. For what it's worth, I also think that he's a rather well written character as well. He fully acknowledges how he's a terrible and shameless person and is pretty confident about it because no one can really bring him down. Except for the MC, evidently. I think it's because he just fully accepts his shittiness and doesn't really try to excuse it that I can't bring myself to fully hate him, either. But don't get me wrong. And I cannot stress this enough, he's the ML because this is the MC's story. In anything else this man is in JAIL.

As for the MC, I love MC dearly. He is also NOT a good person but he is also not without morals, and not a terrible person either. Just deeply flawed in his own way that ties in with his environment as he grew up. Although, he is also influenced by the ML in some ways, take that as you will. He's a rather complex character and is honestly one of the most interesting MCs I've read in a while.
Spoiler

At first I was a little frustrated at how easy he sort of accepted an incredibly awful happening to him, but in later chapters you just sort of realize that this isn't really accepting it, it's coping and survival. He really doesn't have a choice. You kind of get tricked into thinking he might have been okay after all but it really just builds up.

[collapse]
I feel for him, and all of his grievances. I feel frustrated with him, and I do understand why he makes the decisions he does even though they're not the best decisions. It honestly just makes him really human.

That being said. Thank god this is fictional and god bless to the MC, idk how he does it. I would have KMS frame 1 ngl. The fact he lasted that long with that insane s*umbag before snapping is beyond me, but good on him, ig? Crazy work, this whole novel. It can be a tough read depending on your threshold. I'm used to reading heavy/darker stuff and this is definitely not something I can see a lot of people being able to stomach, so tread with caution! Interesting read, one hell of a wild ride. Almost enough to slap a psychological tag on it lmao <<less

Not for the faint of heart.

"Cherry Cake"´s way darker & seedier brother.

Grim, base, animal & unapologetically true to itself till the end. Explores the underbelly of the host & prostitution/exploitation world of which both main leads are part of.

... more>> Not a romance per say. The ML loves MC; whether that's a blessing or curse is up for debate. ML is a true black flag but devolves into a devoted brilliant red flag for MC only.

One thing's for certain: I hate tragedies and this ain't one. ML's got seventeen millions screws loose but he also likes to pamper ML. That's his brand of love. The kind that leaves me thoroughly entertained.

Plus there's a HE... for that trope.

So a clear 4 stars. <<less
